170: Slow fashioning Cyber Monday
Maria McManus, La Garçonne, Babaá, and more small brands take over. Resale is coming, too.
Hopefully you’ve enjoyed the week’s doubled-down sale coverage and not found it too redundant. We tried to organize these sends so you weren’t reading about the same sales 10x (at least not from us). So, in keeping with that effort, all the sales you’ll see covered below are new to this space—but! That doesn’t mean the sites/promos we listed in our past sends are moot.
You probably already know that SSENSE is still going strong, having dropped additional discounts to 50% this morning, but many others from our Early Black Friday roundup are getting just as aggressive with their markdowns. Nordstrom hits up to 85% off (and there’s a big thing about the Dyson Airwrap, which I only mention because it came up at my dinner last night), while Saks has folded in over 48,000 items and MyTheresa has 24,000+.
Our Black Friday proper edit, which skewed more independent, also holds strong (it was only a couple days ago, after all). Tory Burch tops out at 60% off, Agmes’ 25% code has yet to expire, Mansur Gavriel lobbed another 15% off its sale, and Janessa Leone stays 30% strong and you get a ballcap on the house with $500 purchases.. Like that send, the below Cyber Monday list focuses almost entirely on slow fashion and resale, because those are going to yield the pieces you end up wearing the most anyway.
It’s worth taking another click through those earlier sends for the galaxy-brain shopping experience. But here. Well, here you’ll find only the most novel of off-priced deals. The cyberest of sales. We’ve written this whole newsletter without repeating a single letter in the alphabet once, that’s how much we care about keeping your content fridge-fresh.
If it sounds like we’re starting to lose the plot, that’s because Em is dreaming in discount codes and I am sinking further into the quicksand of brown boxes amounting in my apartment.
One of the greatest indicators that we’re evolving as a consumer culture is the emphasis on resale I’m seeing this cyber season; many of yesterday’s guest shoppers were on top of their vintage game. That’s made easier and more affordable then ever with twin promos at The RealReal—get a site credit of up to $500 with a $2,500 purchase, plus shop deals up to 90% off. A few pulls from my saves folder to hopefully spark inspiration: a Comme des Garçons Lumps & Bumps-era flax-tone linen dress; a current-season Miu Miu chiffon top like the one I wore to the optometrist (if you have any idea what I’m talking about…); a High Sport vest for $310; a vintage Hermes priest-collared shirt on sale for $147.
Vestiaire Collective, too, is staying competitive during Cyber Monday, with a name-droppy selection of 90% off designer goods, plus an extra 10% off with SPARKLEVC. Again, inspo: a Magda Butrym leather trench at the best price I’ve seen for one so far (still not cheap, ofc); a very CBK Calvin Klein Collection slip dress under $150; a The Row cropped red sweater (v-neck styled to the back on runway); winter nymph fantasy shearling Toteme slipper-flats.
I really wasn’t banking on a sale from Maria McManus this season, so this one’s nothing short of cause for celebration; a section of the site goes up to half off, including 30% off on some current season. Here’s where to start: the ladder-knit dress I wore during NYFW, evening-appropriate drawstring pants, an impossibly elegant first winter layer, perfect pants.
La Garçonne won in a very weak-handed debate it had with my wallet—I walked away with a pair of white leather Marséll flats with an extraordinary slashed toe and these Stephan Schneider trousers that are just over $100. If they’d had my size in this Loulou Studio dress I regret not buying when I tried it on in the store this summer, I would’ve had it in my bag, too. This Plan C nylon coat with an attached foulard is probably the best thing anyone could ever buy anywhere, though. To be fair.
The Babaá sale is known to all and resistible to few, a condition that’s not helped by the fact that its sitewide sale includes knits like this stinkin’ adorable cardigan, the lounge pants that followed me around in the algo for months, and the brand’s insane tomato soup colorway, as in this funnel-neck shared by Brittany Bathgate in yesterday’s guest edit.
We’ll forgive the dad pun of Marc Jacobs’ “Marcdowns,” because the 50% off deal is so good: Its quilted, chain-strap purses in faded grape, retro top-handle handbags with matching scarves included, and more pieces well under $300 look much more compelling than Marc’s BF sales of yore.
Stylist and Maryam’s right hand, Thistle Brown, saw his eponymous sunglass brand meet immediate success upon launching earlier this year, so it’s a bit of a coup to find it on sale today—Thistles are 25% off with THISTLESLOVE23.
It’s becoming that the only bras and underwear I can bear to wear are Kye Intimates, which—bless—is extending 25% off permanent collection and swim with INNERCIRCLE. The String Bikini and Triangle Bra are where it’s at for me.
Everything on Aussie brand St. Agni’s site is 30% off with TAKE30—I’m about to give the internet one more whirl and then circle back for this suiting tank and these caned loafers.
Garmentory is basically Google for independent designers, aggregated from small boutiques around the world. You can and will get lost in the pages upon pages of unheard of labels mixed in with Maryam, Rachel, Lauren, and Caron—with whom you’re of always on a first-name basis when you’re here. The “search engine’s” Cyber Monday sale draws upon discounts from its enormous network of mom and pop shops to offer discounts up to 70% off.
The most recent season of Ludovic De Saint Sernin’s gender-agnostic gear is up to 40% off, from ruffled poplin blouses and pants with lace-up flys to the brand’s iconic mesh tank tops, emblazoned with rhinestone logos.
The “biggest sale of the year” has struck at Saie, with 25% off almost all the makeup offered on its site—here’s a lineup of best sellers like the cult-y Dew blush if you don’t yet know the ins and outs of the brand.
CM15 takes an extra 15% off COS’ Black Friday deals, bringing Yves Klein blue plissé pants down to $51 from an original $120, striped long-sleeves to under $30, and wool coats subtly printed with dark florals to under $250.
You’ll be prompted to enter the password N4N9SH7A to access Nanushka’s archive sale, which greets you with deals that set our BFCM spreadsheet alight—kitten heel boots down to $305 from $1,025, an all-weather crocheted hat $70 from $245, and more such 70% off deals, quickly selling out its stock.
Take 25% off full price and sale items at Mara Hoffman with GRATEFUL25, where a color block popcorn dress (not as chaotic as it sounds) rings up under $300, as do braided bustiers made of repurposed strips of past seasons’ fabric, and more colorful finds.
The internet’s hottest club is the Issey Miyake seasonal sale, and all its wares are up to 40% off, including midi skirts in a purple/yellow combo that is genuinely revelatory, dresses that reinvigorate polka dots by imagining them as 3D tufts, and many more pieces of wearable art.
Kiko Kostadinov’s BFCM sale takes up to 60% off slanted lilac shoulder bags, mesh cowboy boots with a devious double heel situation, convertible tank/blouses, and more—its menswear selection is also stacked with weirdo gems, as investigated in our Saturday send.
Enjoy 40% off Emilia Wickstead’s lineup of dresses with great alibis: sophisticated without veering into dour territory thanks to skin-baring, deniably scandalous cuts. Matched with a capelet, they winterize well.
Medea is offering 60% off a selection of its cheeky leather goods, with the star of the show being its iconic shopping bag facsimile in more than 10 different colorways, each under $300.
Elleme, $275 / Guest in Residence, $296 / Nordic Knots, $930+ / Neous, $483 / Skims, $24 Elleme shaves an extra 20% at checkout off bags already on sale for up to 70% off—their experimental shapes range from a rhinestone-encrusted tube to a purse mimicking the base of an electric guitar and beyond.
Sunnei’s Magazzino collection is up to 70% off, with knit water bottle bags and back-strap sunglasses setting the sale’s nerdy-cool tone at well under $100. If you need it, the password is SUNNEISUNNEI.
Guest in Residence’s full array of cashmere is 25% off at checkout, with v-necks and shrunken cardigans aplenty alongside more unique applications of the fabric, as in slouchy lounge pants.

Jolie’s showerheads have made appearances on prestige wellness podcasts like Poog and many a shower-taker claims its water purification has made noticeable differences in their skin and hair—all orders made today come with a free branded boat and tote.
Take 30% off Hudson Wilder’s hand-blown, retro homeware with HWARCHIVE-30, bringing some sets of two glasses down to under $35.
In addition to a stiletto-stacked archive sale, Neous is offering 25% off full-price shoes and bags with PRIVATESALE25, including these origami-like kitten heels hewn from a single piece of leather and a classic shoulder bag with a golden, egg-shaped clasp.
At checkout, enjoy 30% off all full-price items at B Sides—there are cute jeans, of course, but also gorgeous wide-wale corduroy pants, five colors of the consummate crewneck sweatshirt, and more pages of clothes to pore through.
Skims is widely known to be best in its shapewear selection, and with discounts up to 50%, prices down to $22, and event season only a week or so out, that’s the section of the sale we’re eyeing.
Sandro’s flash sale takes up to an unholy 80% off stuff like cable-knit underwear-as-outerwear (perfect for dipping your toes into the phenomenon—they’re under $30) and trousers in a rousing shade of purple to wake up your winter wardrobe.
Parachute’s linens and home accessories are all 20% off, with a best-seller section to guide you through the duvet-pillow matrix.
