146: The fall '23 shopping spreadsheet is here

Over 1,000 unique data points on what we're buying, wearing, and wishlisting for fall.

ICYMI: A year ago, I asked readers to tell me what they were buying, wearing, and wishlisting for fall. I compiled all of the responses (around 600 of them) into a doc that I published for everyone to read and shop.

Last week, I asked you to do the same for fall of 2023. I received over 1,000 unique data points and have added them to a fresh, fully shoppable spreadsheet.

After two years of polling the Magasin community on your fall shopping practices, I’ve doubled down on the belief that social shopping is the way. There are only a few short weeks to switch over our warm-weather wardrobes to our cool ones, and the sudden turnover can feel like less of a mad dash when we’re all sharing notes.

For instance, a ton of people submitted that they had loafers on their to-buy lists but didn’t have a specific pair in mind yet. Meanwhile, other readers wrote in to say they’d just bought some they loved from Emme Parsons, COS, Freda Salvador, and Margiela.

Red sweaters, too, cropped up frequently as a thing to shop for and a trend being forecast, while a handful of responses pointed more specifically to their own buys from Ciao Lucia, Loulou Studio, even Old Navy.

Suede jacket seeker, meet vintage Banana Republic bomber wearer. Cord shopper, meet this pair from The Row—or these from Agolde. You get the idea.

I’m an absolute data head, and sometimes more interesting to me than the curve of a line on a graph are the individual points that, together, make a trend a trend. So here they are, presented in raw form and enriched with closely considered links out to cosigned products.

A few notes on using this sheet:

• It’s a living document! If you’d like to contribute, feel free to answer all or some of the prompts by replying to this email or commenting on the post. (I also added a new question that I’d especially love to hear your answers to, even if you wrote in already: What were you most-worn pieces last fall?) I’ll be updating the sheet regularly as new entries come in.

• I've linked exact or near-exact product or landing page matches in blue text and I've linked some of my own suggested buys relevant to the phrase in green text. The purple highlighted cells are my personal responses. And the orange highlighted cells are submissions that I’ve loved and since added to my wishlist, too.

• Because of viewer limits on Google products, you’ll have to request access, which will be granted within a few minutes at most. Feel free to share with your friends and fellow shoppies, we’ll be monitoring the request queue and getting people through the door swiftly, promise.
