419: A heatmap of mouth-watering deals
The deals spreadsheet extracts the best and most discounted gets from all the Black Friday sales.
At time of publish, the deals spreadsheet contains 144 products across womenswear, menswear, and home. The highest discount stands at 80% on this Tibi cashmere dress, a Marie Adam-Leenaerdt jersey-knit dress, and an Italian-made shearling coat down to $600, among others. The lowest-priced item is a $30 Aritzia sports bra (the only one I work out in). The highest-priced is a Phoebe Philo cashmere-wool coat at $2,868, still over two thousand off its original price.
Every Black Friday since 2021, Magasin has published the deals spreadsheet. What is the deals spreadsheet? Basically, it’s a repository for the pieces deemed worth buying—at the product level—from all of the sales that cross our desks. A place to put the many things that (as for so much of this newsletter) inspire urgency and are great deals, but physics and budgets prohibit us from buying for ourselves, as a whole.
We started building out the sheet on Monday (when paid subs got early viewing access), and we’ll continue adding individual deals to it all weekend as we shop and work our way through the new sales coming online by the minute.
New this year to the sheet: a deal heatmap that offers a quick visual cue of the highest percentage discounts, and a notes column where the Magasin team can add color and context to the various deals they’re contributing: so far,
found the Rier fleece for 30% off and the Nudie jeans he wears marked down to $117, and I’m basically using the sheet as a placeholder for things I may still buy (e.g. some 80% off Margiela pants, this 30% off Western Ralph Lauren belt) or happen to own (Olga Basha jeans from Tangerine, my Skims hoodie).See for yourself:
Here’s the deals spreadsheet.
Back in the day, I used to invite readers into the active Google Sheet itself, and it was a lot of fun seeing new anonymous esoteric animals crop up as people joined. Now, there are tens of thousands of us, so it would probably break if I tried that. Instead, the sheet has been published to a webpage that refreshes with new, updated content every five minutes. It’s better as a desktop experience.
Happy thanksgiving, I love you.
