297: This is what we've been practicing for
The (real) SSENSE sale is here...and Bottega is 70% off.
The real SSENSE sale didn’t go anywhere, it was just hibernating. To be honest, I was getting a little worried whether we’d have a real chance at collecting the long-awaited saves from our wishlists at the discounts SSENSE has become so (in?)famous for this year, what with the sale becoming a permanent fixture on the site. The retailer’s winter sale opened today (after kicking off Private Sale last week—the deals culled there are still relevant), and in a furious whirlwind of tabs, I can now assure that the tentpole event has lived up to its reputation.
For the sake of expediency, this post is eschewing pics. But in the links below, you’ll find an embarrassment of truly incredible, wardrobe-uplifting clothes at prices worth the patience we’ve practiced. If you have an account, make sure you’re signed in, as some of the below do veer into Private Sale territory.
To start with the obvious beeline: Some of these The Row prices are nuts. Here’s a khaki cotton trench (while still a pill at over $3k) for 55% off, a suede duffle bag for $1,400 off, and cropped legging-pants for $550. If you win the last-size lottery, you could also get calfskin boots for under $500, a column skirt for $447, or a gold-hardware leather belt for $390. In the men’s edit, theres a nylon Banana Bag for 35% off (about $900), a corduroy overshirt for under a grand, and my personal pick, this terry v-neck down to $500.
Issey Miyake is a serious feast, and I’m being pulled in so many directions. This low-belted black trench for 60% (!) off; an über-elegant wrap-cowl blouse for under $550; a quintessential Issey “movement” dress for around $600; and, while it’s only 17% off, this new-season wool draped blouse is of the utmost importance (likewise the matching pants-skirt).
This most baffles me, but a Bottega intrecciato leather mini skirt is 70% off. 70! This Bottega leather column skirt is also 70% off. 70! So is this double-faced wool sleeveless dress. 70! And not only is this Bottega sweater, yes, 70% off, it’s also under $600.
Many of Leset’s first-name-basis styles are on pretty heavy sale, including the Yoko skirt, the Laura and Margo tees, the Yoko cargos, and—for 60% off—the Jane painters. Relatedly, Eterne’s wide-leg lounge pants, lounge tank dress, and Esme wrap skirt (winter sarong!!) are all 40% off or more.
Heres a Khaite raffia bag for under $850, and here’s a leather one for barely over $1,000. Jeans for under $400 and a jean jacket (also in black) for less than $600. One left of a suede shirt jacket for $1,755…especially tempting to me. Alaia’s best include suede wedges for $300ish (70% off!) and a cutout pencil bag for under $800.
Some miscellaneous, very “me” things: a gabardine Lemaire trench that’s 37% off and a woven leather tote for 40% off; MNZ Olympias because I recently realized I’d love to have them in black, for $351; the Carven coat I keep dreaming about, now 28% off; Auralee tanks for 40% off; similarly, the Flore Flore Hannah racerback for less than $80; and my long-wishlisted Dunton Ellerkamp two-halves ring is thrillingly nearly 40% off.
And many unexpected, aggressively discounted articles that lifted my heart rate: a pewter Tom Ford skirt for under $400; a palest-yellow Jil Sander velour turtleneck (sounds a lot, is very doable) for $357; one left of a Hodakova reworked-trouser dress for only $200; a Valentino PP pink puffer mini coat (actually very elegant?) for 70% off; Chloe hidden-wedge boots for $330 and a polished leather desert boot version for $308; a leather trench from Marie Adam-Leenaerdt is 60% off ($1,600) and her cute-as-buttons white slippers are down to $341.
Men! Not to be forgotten. An Our Legacy “evening cardigan” (I can see it) for $285; phenomenal shape to these 46% off Lemaire pants; theeeee Auralee check shirt is finally on sale, albeit at 17% off; a tasteful Camiel Fortgens raw-edge overcoat for a whopping 63% off; a shrunken Connor McKnight fleece for 60% off—I might get this; a Dries cable knit for under $400; big discounts on deserves-your-attention Jan Jan Van Essche all around, but namely this objectively perfect sweatshirt for 60% off; very nice Magliano field jacket for 70% off; and it’s only 16% off but look at this unbelievable ROA pointelle polo…
From the Everything Else sale—yes, Tekla is included in the discounts (but Magniberg has better deals). This Audo Copenhagen candle care set is super gifty, as are the (half off!) Ormaie candles. And this Clement Boutillon table lamp, Jil Sander throw, and Sunnei Murano dildo-objet are all 50% off or more.
