The SSENSE private sale opening will always mark the beginning of the season to me, and once things get started, they don’t slow down until sometime in early Jan. MyTheresa is also hosting a flash sale, and La Garçonne’s pretty extreme sale-on-sale ends tonight. Oh, and this is separate from all of that, but I found The Row’s Alexia bag listed for 30% off (at Savannah’s of all places).
Let me save my breath for the piece-by-piece breakdown below, but in the meantime, just bear in mind that SSENSE’s sale requires you log into your account (and even then, it’s not guaranteed you’ll be able to access the discounts). MyTheresa takes 20-40% off new-in and already-on-sale items, just scan for the red text. And La Garçonne takes an extra 20% off sale in basket with NOVLG20…for a couple more hours.
Private sales will continue rolling in through next week, at which point it’ll flip over to Early Black Friday, and then to Black Friday proper. It’s all semantics, if you ask me, but what I’m trying to say is get ready for the barrage of laboriously considered sale content!
SSENSE
In the era of barn jackets, the best by fit and quality come from a trifecta: Prada, The Row, and this one from Auralee, $886 $1,030; a La Collection brushed cashmere coat that’s truly no notes on all fronts, $2,362 $3,235; the culture’s color of the moment, in jewelry form by Corali, $482 $560; a “scene cool” It bag by Hodakova (or, dare you wear the boot bag instead?), $1,246 $1,780; Leset’s slim-fit Laura tee is never a bad call, $64 $90; and belt loop-less Max Mara pants for more seamless layering, $360 $765.
A very wearable rugby tee from Dries-for-Dries’ last women’s collection, $368 $920; ohhhhh to be a Fidan bride... $1,891 $2,590; it’s still up there, but under $2k for a Magda Butym leather jacket is exceptional, $1,903 $3,020; Alighieri fishbone—it’s a hair clip! $261 $435; feeding the conspiracy that I’m getting everyone to own some form of this Lauren Manoogian cardigan by year’s end, $593 $770; and a Gimaguas bag doing lovely things with canvas…exactly what I like to see from a brand that keeps prices low, rather than shooting and missing with cheap-looking fake leather, $262 $345.
Love the narrow sleeves and high buttons on this St. Agni blazer, have been wearing so much of the brand lately, $458 $705; these Vaquera zip leather gloves remind me so much of these ones by Phoebe…I’d buy them if there were still a pair in my size, $515 $620; great wool-cashmere coat from Dunst, and unbeatable at that price, $298 $355; this Rier wool jacket, but honestly the little vest and embroidered skirt two make it a three-piece would be so the move, $806 $1,020; I credit Cawley for winterizing the baby bag—this teeny leather bucket and a coat, a dream, $216 $540; and The Row’s Eglitta cords are among the most-discounted pieces from the brand, $683 $990.
One of the most objectively perfect leather jackets I’ve seen since I bought my Fforme one this summer, this one’s by Alainpaul, $2,956 $3,695; have yet to find a leather tote comparable to this hardware-free one from Studio Nicholson, I wear mine often and always a bit smugly, $725 $1,050; I just know I’d get so much wear out of this office siren-y strapless dress from Gimaguas (most imminently, for all the holiday parties), $162 $225; aptly named “Favorite Trousers” from mfpen, $273 $325; and I talk about it a lot, but it’s only fair that I pay the wear tax on this Skims hoodie (I have it on right now) by including it here, $56 $75.
MyTheresa
A suede fringe jacket from Polo Ralph Lauren giving cowboy formal, $1,720 $2,150; I would have bought this twisted Courreges tennis dress months ago if it were in my size…alas, I hope someone else sees what I see…on huge sale $472 $1,180; theeeeeee nymph boots from The Row that they themselvses knocked off with a worse, cheaper version, will never understand that move as the originals knocked the wind out of me, $1,176 $2,100; my two-tone Co shoes, $426 $710; I’m bringing back the winter sarong agenda this season, this one’s Toteme, $347 $620; and a knockout deal on a timeless Acne coat that feels like “old Acne” IYKWIM, $924 $1,650.
A loud, fun coat from Toteme, which is where I’m heading myself this winter: a little noisier with my wardrobe, $2,688 $4,800; wrote about these freaky Maison Margiela tabis recently, but I need the visual up here, too, $610 $1,090; Extreme Cashmere made the best t-shirt, it honestly should never go on sale but here we are, $156 $195; quintessential Dries skirt styled very correctly (play it down, methinks), $548 $685; and this Fforme turtleneck would be the last you ever buy, $1,432 $1,790.
La Garçonne
Still an astronomical number to wrap one’s head around, but this The Row coat, should any be shopping for (requisitely at this rate) forever pieces, is at a very big discount all things considered, $4,400 $9,250; Maria McManus’ fastidious design so fully captured in this snap-down, $128 $400; a huge markdown on Toteme’s genuine lamb leather pants, $396 $1,650; ditto Lemaire’s lamb leather overshirt, unlined for more pan-seasonal wear, $1,107 $3,460; a great Dries summer dress for sure, and an easy under layer until then, $206 $430; we’ve reached the days of High Sport going on sale, $627 $980; and a truly beautiful Auralee coat—again, I would have bought this in a heartbeat if there was any way it’d fit—for sample-sale price, $412 $1,290.

My corneas are crispy dry as leaves as I got the Ssense email last night here in LA & “I chose scrolling” so thank you for highlighting the pieces I missed in my military-grade search of the site 😵😵
Including the SN bag which I’ve coveted & not seen on sale & .. the expression “winter sarong” was not lost on me last year .. despite the earth 🌍 of LA gluing me here like a statue (so only a few stabs at winter sarong were attempted)
I did clock that Toteme skirt tho.. so noodling on that for here xo
