Itinerary

9a Maria McManus show — painstakingly thoughtful. Featuring the jewelry of another brand friend of Magasin, Le Sundial and denim, a first for Maria, in collaboration with Agolde.
10:30a GapStudio press preview — everyone has a lot of opinions about the Zac Posen show going down at Gap…and a lot of that comes from the fact that everyone genuinely really likes Zac. It’s easy to pan a turnaround project of a household brand, especially when we all seem to have such strong ideas of what it should look like, but much tougher when the guy in charge is a sweetie with genuine talent.
12p Calvin Klein show — the gem in NYFW’s crown, as I messaged the PR when my invite finally came through just the day prior. My favorite bits were those that called to ‘80s CKC, like the silk tile dress and the gathered, waist-tied dresses. I also suspect the intimates merchandising worked on me, because I’m curious to try out those strapless bras that were peek-a-boo styled under square scoop necks; they’re sheer, unlined, and seem mechanically promising.
2p Fforme show — I left buzzing. Lots of ideas for where I’d want to wear pieces I saw go down the runway, which I’d almost forgotten was the whole point. “Next summer in the Hamptons” said one intrusive thought about a gold satin dress.
3p Ashlyn show — featuring jewelry by one of my faves, Lara Sonmez! But overall a great collection from a brand that’s become an editor pet fave over recent seasons.
5p Presley Oldham & Louisa Jacobson cocktail at W Hotel
5p Rùadh press preview
8p Calvin Klein Collection after party
9p SC103 show
some skips
Outfit rundown
In House Studio Suit, inquire / The Row Marlo 12 Bag, $4,900 / Aeyde Daphne Leather Sandals, $495
Shopping gossip

Not so much shopping gossip as it is wealth rubbernecking, but my friend Vesper, who won those gypsets at the Jessica McCormack party at the Frick, went to go pick up her spoils at the brand’s boutique, from where she reported back (hey, that’s the name of the franchise). One couple casually bought a pair of earrings she ballparked to be in the $500,000 range while another client was ushered into a private shopping area, ostensibly because they’d be spending quite a bit more. It’s truly something to fathom…walking out of an Upper East Side townhouse several million lighter, with a few pocket-sized spoils to show for it.
Ran into Roxanne Adamiyatt of Town & Country on the fashion train to Fforme. She was wearing the Yuni Buffa loafers, and when I asked how she was liking them, she mentioned she’d worn them though a rainstorm and they came out the other side without any patina. From my vantage point they looked brand new, despite their pale color.
I teased Sonia of Still Here that I’d need to keep tabs on her vintage collection to get a preview of what’s coming for the brand in future seasons. She was wearing a 2009 Jil Sander nylon tan belted blazer that I’m hoping and praying has inceptioned into her design brain so that I can cop one in the next collection.
My fashion crush of the day is Oscar, who was assisting on the Ashlyn show. Oscar wore Dhruv Kapoor shoes, United Arrows pants, an Aldo Maria Campillo (ex head of menswear at Valentino) shirt, and his father’s silk handkerchief from the ‘60s around his neck. Oscar emanated kind energy.
The Connor McKnight bag I wore to open the week is now live!
