506: What's nightgown summer without barbiturates

I know every girl has been having their nightgown summer, and I have too. My nightgowning has been done exclusively around the house, furiously steam-cleaning hardwood floors (I don’t know if I’m supposed to do that) and frightening parakeets off their window ledges. Just as the god of hysterical 1950s housewives intended, except instead of amphetamines and barbiturates we have NAD+ and GLPs. (Shopping newsletter tax: It’s this If Only If gown, usually with these white JH flats.)
The late-summer mania that makes me dress with abandon, tear my apartment apart, and avoid the West 4th Subway stop has set in, and I also blame it for my most recent purchase: a fringed OGBFF phone case, spotted on Maya Kotomori’s IG story two days ago. It’s just that I need the experience of reaching for my phone, and it’s wearing this, and I am pulling it out of my Emily Dawn Long Urchin bag.
Anyway, some fringe for thought. Many more fantasies realizable with credit cards below, including the whimsical Bode comic book scarf I’ve wishlisted for myself and this new-collection Toteme bag that has a certain Garden Party-ness to it, don’t you think?

What’s new
Last month, we established that everything is Dries now, which makes Dries AW26-27 super-Dries. The brand is all about unlikely combinations, which run free in these new arrivals: floral jacquard pants, pattern-blocked bustiers, and embroidered blazers all exist in intentionally clashed harmony. (We can’t wait for more of these pixelated-print pieces to be available.)
The Tory Burch FW26 collection has arrived in a very matchy-matchy fashion. There’s a really good pairing—the embellished linen top and skirt set in a structured brown linen, the natural follow-up to the reissue of the crystal tunic—and a kinda questionable one—a matching lettuce-hem style striped flared skirt and floral-embellished tank that feels in the manner of Sharpay Evans. There are some fabulous shoes though, like the Reva punk travel ballet.
We have first access to Toteme FW26, and this initial selection of pieces is just enough to whet the palate for future drops. The biggest standouts are the scarves—both on the naplack slingbacks and the fixed cable chain-wrapped accessories. Silhouette-wise, the gentle A-line from the crepe turtleneck tops and fold-over snap details on the Mercer leather tote add verve to the black-and-white offering.
There’s also first access to Rohe’s FW26 range, with an emphasis on the tactile, for both the wearer and the admirers of their clothing. Take the double waistband trousers for example—a garment made to look like you’re wearing a white pair of high-waisted pants underneath a wider pair of black pants (genius). The outerwear is specifically fantastic, like the gorgeous rounded silhouette on this shearling jacket.
Metier introduces us to the Tilt bag, a relaxed bucket-silhouette bag with a custom clasped handle and a funky, trapezoidal way of laying in both the hand and the arm’s crook. The Tilt is available in both a mini and medium silhouette, as well as five different colors of suede and ultralight calfskin.
There’s also: exclusive access to Victoria de Piante’s FW26 collection, full of A-line silhouettes in a very ’60s persuasion; Lauren Manoogian’s AW26, full of long shawl cardigans and cap-sleeve dickeys; Leset’s citron-tinged FW26 drop; FW26 by Sophie Buhai, including a $3,700 dragonfly cigarette holder (!); two new Jamie Haller suede penny loafers, the regular in taupe and the unlined in smoke; and Cécred’s Restoring Lash & Brow Builder, a dedicated product for lashes and brows following up the viral edge drops.
Men’s releases
Bode’s taking us to the rodeo. Aptly called the Bodeo collection, this just-landed offering is the stuff of true country culture—Western yoke shirting and all. While earmarked as womenswear, there’s a lot of quirky (and perhaps more successful) styling opportunities for the menswear category, like this fringe Appalachian jacket.
Birkenstock and Seoul-based brand Adererror team up on this new iteration of the classic close-toe Boston, and it’s good. Adererror combines its multidisciplinary view into fashion (namely, through architecture) with the Birk silhouette for a Boston whose zig-zag embroidery and nubuck leather toecap take it from an undergrad dining hall staple to genuinely fashionable daywear.
Home releases
Olive Ateliers is now dabbling in French art and tapestries, in case your home furnishings need something on the wall to tie in the rustic charm. A lot of the current run of tapestries has already sold out, but there are plenty of still-life paintings available, like this very kitchen-y piece depicting fresh produce, or this parlor-appropriate piece with soft bundles of lilac.
There’s also: Round II of BENI x Flamingo Estate’s LA mythology-inspired wool rugs; and the Lanzarote-inspired sun-worn green homeware collection by Pascale Naessens, now available at Serax.
What’s on sale
Long live 6397, truly the people’s mid-priced-luxury princess, and its a killer warehouse sale. A lot of pieces from one to two seasons ago are 40% off, like this pair of their signature colored acid-wash denim in a turmeric-like sunchoke wash, down to $210 from $350. Bigger discounts in the 50–60% off range fall on pieces like the high crew cardigan in chlorine, but have limited size availability.
There’s an extra 20% off all sale at La Garçonne with AUGLG20, and it feels like a little summer’s end send-off. LG stocks some of the greatest sleeper brands in the contemporary/modern luxury retail space, and a lot of product from said brands is on sale, like the Giulia cotton jacket in grey check from Bergfabel (down to $864 after the extra discount) and Setchu origami polo shirt, discounted to $473 from $740.
Mirror Palais is known to be rather cards-to-chest, and this archive sale opens a prism into the brand’s lesser-known ouvre. Aka, it’s a BTS sale where items from past photoshoots or development are sold to the public at proper archive sale prices—like the Opera lady in pearl sample priced at $600, whereas the retail version went for $1,495.
Renggli has an archive sale on, where basics come to be reborn. In preparation for fall, look to the cashmere long sleeve polo and tailored trouser, both 40% off. In the spirit of our final orange creamsicles of the season, there’s the terry crewneck sweatshirt and shorts in peach, each 70% off.
There’s also: 25% off NikeSKIMS, from skort to tabi; up to 50% off Araks swimwear and some lingerie, like the Yanelis bralette in hibiscus; what Mejuri calls the “sale of the summer,” a semi-blowout including these lab-grown baguette-cut sapphires; the “final few” sale at Gardenheir (some cotton moleskin pieces are 25% off); and 30% off at the CUUP swim sale, benefitting one and two pieces alike.
Home sales
It’s the CB2 August sale, and discounts span the gamut. Some of the best deals are in the lighting department, like the Abryn textured glass wall sconce at 30% off. Certain colors of specific items are also discounted accordingly, like the extra large Playa faux ball priced at $60 from an original $130 for the travertine colorway, whereas the black terrazzo is $100.
