477: Twice the Magasin
Plus Khaite exclusives at Net, Primark x MNZ (?), and a host of private sales.
Find a list of only-here discounts up to 25% off in the Magasin Code Index.
Greetings from Magasin’s first second news send of the week! The weather is great and we’ve been drinking out of coconuts every morning.
It turns out, what happens in shopping over seven days could fill a book and, even when edited down to just the good stuff, is enough to cut off in your inbox. From here on out, we’re delivering more often, with briefer and more timely updates. Plus, with added real estate to play in, I can share more of the inane items that land on my watch lists…like this Wales Bonner soccer ball I’d attempt to wear as a purse. All this and more, coming to you Tuesdays and Fridays.
Some immaculate links to celebrate: Gucci eelskin pants (I’ve been influenced by Gabriette); an almost inappropriately good wedding-guest-y Rosie Assoulin dress; I’m still thinking about the Saint Laurent taffeta heels from Paris and could retch at not finding them in my size; I’ve never seen a bag more worth its $10k price tag; a good Jude shoe—under $600; OG and new-G Herbert Levines; a Stein canvas jacket superior to its Prada, Miu Miu, Row counterparts; an Hermés angora jacket on TRR I should just buy instead of linking out here…
With News Editor Maya Kotomori.
What’s new
Net-A-Porter just dropped a capsule of Khaite exclusives, including a very Khaite take on a neon coral. The fluorescent pink-orange hue arrives in the satin-twill Timy camisole which, when paired with the matching Robbie shorts, lands somewhere between hotel pajama dressing and downtown dinner attire. And then there’s the Milly pump—a whipstitched topsider kitten heel that is a cheeky hybrid of trends. There’s still that brand-safe severity in pieces like the Poppi satin blouse and the white denim Kendra skirt.
Primark opens its Herald Square flagship on May 8 with a little downtown seasoning courtesy of…Maryam Nassir Zadeh. The retailer partnered with the designer, who’s previously collab’ed with J.Crew and BA&SH and now designs Paula’s Ibiza at Loewe, on “The Herald,” a limited-edition Primark-blue bag with a glass charm by Genarro Pepe Ciller. It’s not for purchase and only available in limited quantities at the opening; a smart incentive strategy if we’ve ever heard one. (Did we mention Primark is turning the Empire State blue for the occasion?)
The latest wave of The Row accessories is coming in, with standout pieces reading beach club parking lot in the South of France. At Net-A-Porter, the Malick leather sandals use a simple toe strap to tap the ’90s. Over at MyTheresa, the India 12.00 and Georgia totes reinterpret raffia-adjacent resort bags through leather and woven canvas, practical enough for poolside hauling.
Bergdorf Goodman has launched the seventh installment of its Radar initiative, the retail incubator first introduced in 2019 to spotlight next-gen designers. This season’s class includes All Three, Attersee, and Kartik Research. A personal spotlight on the newest Attersee: The sky-blue cocoon shirt lands exactly where louche shirting should—boxy, sharp, relaxed without collapsing. Its lightweight wool slouch pants deserve attention; layered properly, the elastic waistband disappears into well-tailored trousers.
A lot happening in the Miuccia-verse right now. The Miu Miu L’Été edit slides dreamily into a vintage-summer fantasy at a Riviera flea market (crochet pouches, cheerful side-tie dresses, and a $1,550 suede cowboy hat). Then there’s Prada’s new Route bag family, where each size owns a different genre: the large is a utility rig, the medium is a shoulder-tote, and the small is somewhere deliciously between Boston and barrel bag. Finally, the latest installment of Prada Timecapsule, the brand’s NFT-linked collector ecosystem: a patchwork shirt assembled from archival fabrics (including a lips print pulled from the SS00 womenswear collection).
There’s also: Fara Homidi’s luxe puffer vegan leather makeup bag, (the Margiela Glam Slam was definitely on the moodboard); Aureum’s bejeweled limited-edition summer belt collection; the return of Birkenstock x Proenza Schouler, complete with contrast-stitched Arizona and Milano sandals; Jamie Haller’s latest signet-heavy jewelry collection; a limited edition LIÉ Studio x LESSE leather lip balm pendant; and MyTheresa’s applique-forward Manolo Blahnik high-summer exclusives, destined for anyone still spiritually aligned with Carrie Bradshaw’s fictional footwear spending habits.
Men’s releases
Saman Amel’s Resort SS26 ready-to-wear launches online in limited quantities, continuing the Stockholm label’s ongoing campaign for tailoring that screams “expensive” before anyone even checks the fabrication. We’re talking raw silk jackets (the high neck on the Nehru jacket is gorgeous), deerskin slippers, washed silk shorts and trousers.
Another season, another highly convincing argument for Junya Watanabe MAN’s longstanding partnership with Mackintosh, still the gold standard of British rainwear. This latest nylon-laminated rain mac arrives with silver hardware, a crisp technical finish, and a blue gingham lining.
Home releases
Petra Hardware just launched Fundamentals, the brand’s first-ever in-house collection of knobs and pulls inspired by both modernist and ancient sculptural forms. Fortunately, the pieces stop short of feeling overly precious. The Stalos arc pull turns a generic rental drawer into something gallery-like, the Barbara knob gives builder-grade cabinetry a more fun sense of intention.
There’s also: Savette’s saddle-colored leather home objects; Autumn Sonata’s Hanna bathrobe in graphic olive-and-cream mosaic cotton; and July’s updated Capsule carry-on pro luggage with lockable wheels, engineered specifically for avoiding rogue collisions at JFK.
What’s on sale
Net-A-Porter’s private sale has arrived with an automatic 30% discount at checkout, spanning peak vacation dressing to transitional-weather previews. Missoni’s Mare metallic crochet-knit coverup is poolside drama, while Wales Bonner’s actual in-house leather sneakers (not the endlessly reposted Sambas) are priced down to $465 from an original $665. For anyone strategically shopping sales, clock the direct links to swimwear, sandals, and warm-weather accessories.
MyTheresa’s private sale is now live, with discounts up to 30% off across a broad mix of current-season inventory, Alaïas and Valentinos included. The strongest offerings lie in the shoes, however: Gianvito Rossi strappy sandals and Aquazarra thong pumps in the $600-range are a deal any day.
The Araks spring flash sale cuts swimwear and lingerie anywhere from 30-75% off, including the Juliette one-piece in prism, priced down to $95 from an original $360. The real strategy, however, lies in combing through the lingerie markdowns color by color. The Antonia bralette in parrot sits at 40% off, while glass green lands at 30%—a reminder that patience and unusual color preferences still occasionally pay off online.
There’s 25% off ready-to-ship items from Cawley Studio, with the discount automatically applied at checkout. The product photos themselves are a guideline to best shop the sale: the Japanese cotton Sofia dress pairs especially well with a hat—take the British dry oilskin sunhat, for example.
A 20% off Bona Drag sale wins at unique basics in unexpectedly good colors. Rita Row’s Sefra dress arrives in a sharp hot orange, while a No. 6 tank in the shade ice lands in that elusive grey-blue shade fashion people spend years trying to describe correctly. There’s also an MNZ camel market bag marked down 40%; dangerously close to enabling behavior.
There’s also: Dôen’s Mother’s Day sale with 50% off draped tops, nightgowns, and children’s pieces that practically require a countryside weekend; Nordstrom’s Savings Event, currently strongest in beauty with Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 marked 15% down; Tropic of C’s Mother’s Day flash sale offering 25% off swimwear built for high tides and low rises; 30% off Sapir Bachar’s entire catalog of intricate piece-y jewelry (see: the snake choker); a 30% off offer for all items from the Rus Essentials collection at checkout (we love the Onemu pants); and limited stock left for the FM 669 private archive sale, including a couple TA103 tanks and the TP101 driving polo, both 40% off.
