Itinerary
Tuesday, April 21

10a Gabriella Khalil x Ege rug collaboration preview - LR + XD
11a Fidenza Village visit — It was a gamble to allocate half a day of precious Milan time to sussing out the designer outlets an hour outside of the city, but I left with a bag full of Miu Miu, so I guess it paid off: the fine mohair track jacket I’d been watching on The RealReal for at least six months, and a nurse shirt that aligns neatly with my spring pastel inclinations. - LR
2p Osanna Visconti showroom visit — During the day, I followed Kate Berry and David Barry around town. We stopped for lunch at Trattoria Milanese, where we ran into Laila Gohar and Rafael Pietro. After lunch we visited Osanna Visconti to see her collection of cast furniture made with an ancient lost wax technique. From there, we went to see Beverly Nguyen give a talk on design and curation for “ALBUM.”
3p Gucci Memoria - LR
4p Prada Frames IMAGES AND POLITICAL IMAGINATION panel - LR
5p Balenciaga x Eduardo Chillida exhibition - XD
6p Tivoli x Demisch Danant cocktail - XD
6p Issey Miyake “The Paper Log: Shell and Core” cocktail - LR
Of all the surprise run-ins we’ve had this week, Lily Sullivan’s JW Anderson pigeon meeting another one at a dinner is our favorite thus far.
6:30p Levant at The Space Milan curated by Shirin Ehya — Visited a gorgeous dining room set by my dear friends at Levant, featuring their new collection of swirled, agate glassware made in collaboration with Laguna B. - XD
7p Highsnobiety Annual Bar Basso Aperitivo — It’s only 7pm and I’m already fighting for my life at Bar Basso. - LR
7p Marimekko x The Plant cocktail - LR
7p Kelly Wearstler x H&M Home Dinatoire - LR + XD
7p Artemest Collection by GACHOT cocktail — The spaces in Milan are routinely beautiful, and Artemest’s HQ takes the cake. It’s difficult to install works in these kinds of spaces; on the one hand, they are incredibly evocative and can enhance and expand the design story of a collection, but the risk is that the frescoed ceiling will steal the thunder. During design week, the utility of a gorgeous room is that it becomes the draw—but the work needs to exist within in a way that feels essential. - XD
7p RH Milan Opening Party — It was giving “money is no object.” Bar Basso came to this crowd, not the other way around. My martini was imported from Duke’s bar in London. Margot Robbie wore Brunello Cucinelli. Etc. - XD
10p Sophie Lou Jacobsen “Disco Aperitivo” dance party at Bar Doria — Fittingly a disco for her new disco collection (just one in a whole week’s worth of programming); the disco is undoubtedly the preferred social format of the week for anyone who survives sundown. - LR
10p Cabana Magazine dance party - XD
1am Volker Haug Studio x The Future Perfect dance party — Honey Dijon deejayed, too much disco for me at this point...a casa! - LR
