418: All these sales, and I'm still just shopping The RealReal

Resale wishlist reveal.

I woke up this morning to a notification that I’d won a leopard-print rabbit fur jacket I barely remember submitting an offer for on eBay. I am somewhat delirious amid all of the Black Friday coverage (my awards season), but it’s become a sort of ritual lately to wind down by scrolling through pages of vintage furs, looking for something to scratch the itch that Nereja awakes in me (but for considerably less than the $5k-ish their reworked coats cost).

My other ceremony, opening my Gem app alerts email in the morning, means I’m always abreast of what second-hand Phoebe Philo, runway Giorgio Armani, and past-season MNZ has hit the market. So, too, does checking The RealReal’s new-in editors’ picks pages at least daily.

When I planned out my BFCM coverage last year, one thing I didn’t consider was resale, yet almost every one of the people I surveyed on their purchases bought something secondhand. And I realized I had, too. And here we are again, and I suspect enough of us have had the thought cross our minds when seeing the many, many sales roll through: “I could find that for cheaper on The RealReal.” It begs the need for an official Resale Day on the calendar.

Lo and behold, just this week, The RealReal launched its ‘Sale of the Season,’ Grailed’s Cyber Week sale went live, and 1stDibs is hosting a Holiday Sale. My favorite Italian vintage dealer Maj Kiosk uploaded her personal archive to site (with the password CLOSETSALE), Sensoria unveiled a collaboration with the French vintage store Casting Archives, and Turn Paris, another great French vintage project, introduced physical gift cards that each come with a handmade Murano glass bonbon…many such ways to shop vintage this week, it seems.

So, while a ton of pre-owned things are on sale, and other are just great deals, I wanted to share a few items on my various wishlists.
