The volume of shopping gossip I’m able to deliver lately is limited, mostly because my fabulous life keeps hurling me back to Europe, as though my and New York’s magnets are temporarily repelling one another. If you went to the scene and no one knew me, that’s because I have been drinking wine in the company of BEES instead.
A few things I have ascertained in the last few weeks:
I never thought I’d wear sunglasses like these from Chanel, but it turns out they look amazing on me. I love being wrong.
Nothing at Prada is worth spending full price on right now, but the outlet still rips. I got a mint green Cleo bag (finally!) for $900ish after detax.
Spent two nights at The Hoxton’s newest location in Florence, a property that marries a 16th century palazzo with a 1980s Andrea Branzi modernist structure. I loved the vibrant contrast of the building (its designer established Memphis after all), and got curious enough to poke around on 1stDibs: icon-status finds like this curved oak Lubekka bench and original set of Reverse chairs by Cassina are listed for less than you’d think.
The only bag left to buy might be an Hermes Victoria. I think about buying one quite literally nearly every morning since adding it to my resale alerts, but lately I’m hearing “Victoria” a lot more from people who make obsessively weighed purchasing decisions. Namely, my agent Susanna.
I didn’t buy a life-changing 17th century carpenter’s table from an Arezzo antiques fair to use as a kitchen island (some blessed soul had already bought it for $900), even though
connected me to multiple on-site shippers who could have made it happen. More from Xavier soon on exactly this kind of thing.Cami Tellez shops Vinted through a broker in Europe who’ll mule her vintage Armani for a small convenience fee (the secondhand site famously requires an EU address + phone number), but for more local buys, she thinks the women’s department at P. Johnson, of the same minimalist ilk, is criminally under-appreciated.
Jil Sander updated its Cage sandal to include a model with a diagonal strap that makes them more wearable. My toes…fall out of the more biblical cross version, but in the new design (which I bought in sand), all appendages remain inside the vehicle.
Cathy Horyn is living out everyone’s dream out at her new place in Virginia, but her use of an old Prada duffle as a gardening/log lugging bag is inspired. Here’s one, two, three, and four similar on resale.
At a dinner, I heard about someone who’d bought an apartment only because it came furnished with what she believed were original Francois-Xavier Lalanne sheep…considering a set can fetch 1.3mm, there’s some acumen in the move.
- bought my Khaite dress. It’s on (extra) sale right now, too.
I left what remained of my most recent tube of Lesse sunscreen with my Italian aunt because she said she liked it better than any of the European options she’s tried. (Take note, skincare epicures bemoaning the tariffs.) Reason being: it’s a proprietary non-nano zinc that blends into skin, no white cast after a couple of seconds. I heard the SPF is low stock right now, unsurprisingly, but I do have a code for anyone interested before it sells out, MAGASIN20.
This WaterRower is my personality for the next 3-6 weeks. I got called Tonne Goodman and Claire Underwood within minutes of posting it, so how could it not?
What’s new
The new Bode! Inspired by the theater composer Morris “Moose” Charlap. It’s really become something in the seasons since men began announcing themselves as walking red flags by the mere fact of a ribbon-embellished pair of pants. But that was a generation ago already and it’s matured in the culture to something that belongs to all of us like Ralph Lauren. Emily, never at fault for the cresting-stage crowd that swarmed her brand, has plucked along making great things. This one’s better than the last, even, with patent opera pumps for those who missed out on the Chanel brogues, a cape-as-top concept I encourage smaller boobs than mine to consider, and a silk seersucker DRESS—what a dress what a dress what a dress. For the men, and me and you, a welding jacket in Indian suede, my dress as a short-sleeve shirt, a tee that reminds us, “Every Good Boy Does Fine.”
Colleen Allen’s FW25 hit site today (she now has ecomm up and running so you can shop direct). I pre-ordered a couple of things, including this fitted fleece hook-and-eye jacket, back in early spring, so you better believe I’m elated to see a shipping estimate as early as August 15.
The Row miniaturized the Marlo. I like it better than the original XL that never sold as well as the Margaux, which you could tell was part of the succession plan. I have higher hopes for the more dynamic 12. Sized just right so that you actually bring along your sunglass case for when the light changes, not so big you only end up carrying it atop a rolling suitcase.
There’s also: Thistles releases the Cruz, a wire-framed titanium sunglass; COS’ PF25 collection arrives full of suede in non-black neutrals; and On x Zendaya delivers intellectual workout and cooldown gear for under $300.
What’s on sale
Attersee’s Private Sale is on—last time this happened, we shared early access to paid subscribers, but this time we’re opening up our line-cutting abilities to everyone through this link. After noodling over quite a few styles I had banked in my wishlist—sage green knit dress, heathered linen cargo pants—I ended up ordering a v-neck satin dress that’s one part gown, one part beach cover-up (how utterly Attersee).
Brand of the moment 6397 is hosting a Warehouse Sale; better deals on clothes you’ll actually wear would be hard to find. A couple familiar pieces from my own closet—slate barn jacket, copper jeans—plus a few I’d gladly welcome: great black sweats, low pleated pants, zipping funnel-neck sweater.
Dangerous things happening at the Moda Operandi sale, as is wont to be the case. Starting with an excellently crispy cotton pant from YAITTE; The Row thigh-high boots for 60% off (I’m back on thigh highs BTW); a remarkable, exotic, elegant Diotima dress with crochet bodice…
There’s a Tekla tablecloth for 75% off at the SSENSE sale. The discounts are getting aggressive and they don’t end at fashion.
There’s also: Extra 30% off summer styles at The Outnet’s perma-sale—I spy Chloé, Margiela, Toteme; new 90% off styles added to FFORME’s archive sale with ARCHIVE2025; and Laura Lombardi retires some jewelry styles at 25% off.

Loved this sm. What is that high v neck white tee you’re wearing?!
Selling a couple of lovely Attersee pieces that just aren’t right for me, below sale price. A shirt sleeve ties sarong, the fringe dress, a magenta cashmere coat, and the mohair evening shawl. DM me if interested!
