In today’s send: the “just clothes” brand carving our a key spot in my wardrobe, Miu Miu for under $400, a $6,000 bag I won’t buy (damn you Alaïa), the new American Apparel, bedsheets for less than they should be, and should I buy Emily Oberg’s Bottega heels?
What’s new
6397 is “just clothes,” in that it makes versions of foundational pieces of modern wardrobes that are simply better than the next. The lookbooks are louche—smartly understyled—and the fabrics and fits hypnotically easy. Its newest season just landed, exemplary of why it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite brands: I picked up a pimento-red papery-thin button down, roomy linen twill trousers, and a hemp-cotton kaftan that fulfills every fantasy of a kaftan (sexy, sly, laidback). I’ve worn them all already, in the half-week since they arrived, and each has earned a compliment from an onlooker.
Net-A-Porter celebrates its 25th anniversary this month with a look back at the best sellers of each year. Impressive that the site’s still selling Alexander McQueen’s skull scarves (2003’s unforgettable breakout star) and Isabel Marant’s sneaker wedges from 2013. Amazing to think this is the very nostalgia we’ll feel for Loewe’s Puzzle Bag and The Row’s Margaux, the top products of 2025 and 2024, respectively.
Tibi’s FW25 runway collection arrived, full of bouncy-structured neoprene-like knits in rich navy and brown. Important takeaways include the bonded twill dress and jacket, this tropical wool bomber, and a shrunken v-neck long sleeve. The shoes deserve a callout of their own—satin elf shoes! shearling sneakers! furry chukkas!
Hermés has the canvas Victoria, Khaite has the canvas Maeve, The Row has its canvas Idaho, and now Métier introduces the canvas Chameleon, an elevated tote centering the understated material. I’m sure we have the Boat & Tote to thank for the recent wave of duffels, which also includes styles from Staud, Savette, and a very nice Kallmeyer option. I promise to let you know the moment my Tibi x L.L.Bean belted tote comes back in stock…it’s simply the best.
Rage bait: The Row is selling rubber shower slides for $620.
A rare designer who dares make an uncategorizable shoe, Simona Vanth has opened pre-orders on her SS26 collection that includes kitten heel moccasin boots, toe-less tabi sandals, and a sneakers that’s a portmanteau of several sport styles with gummy driving nubs at the sole. Ships in December.
There’s also: Have you seen the woven Alaïa Le Click bag yet? I saw it in store in Paris and it nearly knocked me to the floor; Flore Flore adds three online-exclusive colors: Audrey, Baby Blue, and Bubblegum; new Paris Georgia PF25 lands via a secret private access page; same for Studio Nicholson FW25—here’s early access; and new Tankair arrives tomorrow, including more color options for its American Apparel-tier viral stretchy tops…and a crochet laptop case.
What’s on sale
I have been thinking a lot about BEDS (and yes, you’ll be hearing more from me on this soon in ROOMS). One of the central figures in the bedding space, Boll & Branch (which gets uttered on Reddit alongside highest-end luxury brands), is hosting a sale that technically doesn’t start until Friday—but readers get early access with MAGASIN. It’s 20% off sitewide, and up to 40% off select styles and sets over $300 (like this bundle. I recently ordered the Signature Hemmed Sheet Set and Signature Hemmed Duvet Set; definitively hotel quality and a good option for recovering linen sheet wearers (so’s the percale—but no shade, they do carry linen, too).
The conceptually elusive project (resale platform? social network? shell company?) Basic.Space, which once courted influencers and known names to offload their closets through its app before a company pivot to furniture—and acquiring the art fair Design Miami—is hosting an archive sale on many of those pieces. The network effect never really took hold, which means a lot of desirable items are priced low AND are now 20% off with ARCHIVE20: Emily Oberg’s Bottega Veneta intrecciato heels for $360, Juliann McCandless’ Roberto Cavalli skirt for $120, Nikita Desai’s Celine bag for $480…
A private Miu Miu sale at MyTheresa takes 50% off the brand, going as far as including bags, shoes, logo-tagged apparel at prices that dip below $400.
COS’ 60% off sale got a 15% boost with EXTRA15—I’d start with this High Sport-like vest for $37 (!), silk t-shirt dress for $84, and a one-shoulder swimsuit down to $50.
A compounded Nonna sale (extra 15% off at checkout) puts a significant discount on Michelle Del Rio, Tigra Tigra, Sophia Fish—thoughtful, feminine brands with a strong sense of place in summer.
There’s also: An Apiece Apart online sample sale that gets to 75% off with tiered bonus discounts (it maxes at 30% off orders $500+ with EXTRA30); a flash 24-hour Norma Kamali swim sale that goes up to half off; Italian bag brand Medea is up to 50% off in its summer sale; and a 20% off sitewide sale at Bona Drag with LUCKY20 that stacks with existing discounts.

Those Row sliders look like knockoff Yeezy ones?
