Greetings…I think everyone should know that Ssense purchases to US now come with an added 20% tariff. I learned of this the hard way. I couldn’t figure out where my on sale Metier bag had gotten to, and looked up the tracking number. Lo and behold, it was stuck at my post office, “at the request of customer.” When I went to pick it up, the bag on sale for $1700 had a $340 “postage due.” I paid it, but I won’t be shopping at Ssense again.
This unfortunately has always been the case when a purchase is over 800usd, it is at the will of customs for inspection. It happened to me a few years ago. It’s basically a roll of the dice if they inspect and charge you. I live in switzerland now and everything has a VAT :) even worse!
Hello Triple! I appreciate your comment. I’m almost sure though that Donald Trump’s tariffs against Canada are at work here in US right now. This means we face tariffs that are new, and didn’t apply back when you lived in the US. I wonder if Laura could help with this…let us know. It just seems that buying something on sale, only to have to pay a tariff, may obliterate the sale savings. I think my Metier bag was 20 percent off…
