My showroom-owning friend Miranda Levitt wore MNZ Olympias to the extraordinarily fancy Grand Diner du Louvre (the type of fete couture exists to cater towards). For context, those not wearing custom looks included Carla Bruni in FW95 Galliano, Kelly Rutherford in Vetements, and Ashley Graham in Louis Gabriel Nouchi. Just in case you were wondering how the Maryam brand was performing on the streets…just fine it turns out. She also wore full Dries, including a sheer top she received a scolding for.
The front row playbook, since Chloe, is all about pair after pair of matching hopeful It shoes. We saw it at Sandy Liang in New York and again in Paris at Ganni. Paloma, Tish, Caroline Issa, Dree Hemmingway, all in the presenting brand’s Oleatex strappy, pointed flats.
I was apparently not the first to ask what season her incredible western horseshoe jacket was—could it have been Karl’s 1992?—for my friend
to tell me it wasn't Chanel. (The rich moms of Northern California have also looked upon it enviously.) I obviously tried to find comps, and while this vintage Wrangler is close and this super old school Gucci with the motif is bonkers in its own right, I'm afraid the coat is truly one of one.I'm feeling a bit silly for buying a $40 hair clip from Tangerine just before coming here, only to splash out at Monoprix on a handful of made-in-France claw clips and barrettes for around $4 apiece. These things are truly superior—the styles are interesting and pretty, the plastic doesn't have unsightly seams, and the grip of the springs makes for a solid hold. Etsy has tons of these things in the $10 range.
I'm still noodling on the Lemaire Shoulder Gear bag…the last thing I need is another bag, but it's phenomenal and fills a size gap in my collection (the most everyday of everyday proportions). Thistle’s Callan Malone DMed me immediately to say she shared it in all of her group chats when she saw it and Cartier’s Pirrie Wright bought it after her ex-boyfriend personal shopper at Lemaire (a dream and a nightmare I imagine) told her they'd just gotten it in. In the meantime, someone should buy this vintage Wilson for $20…
