300: Magasin Private Sale discounts the impossible
Sales you won't find anywhere else on the internet, from 26 of our favorite brands.
On the occasion of our 300th post—and the fact that it’s undeniably, already, actually Black Friday—I wanted to do something new, serviceable, and reflective of the greater network that is Magasin.
I’ve spent the last almost-four years concurrently fostering relationships with brands and building trust with readers, and it seemed like the right time to leverage one for the other’s benefit. So I tapped a couple dozen of this newsletter’s most highly regarded and frequently featured labels, and I asked them to offer something to the Mag audience that they wouldn’t find anywhere else, during the most aggressive shopping week of the year.
The inaugural Magasin Private Sale features exclusive discounts from brands that have never advertised, and as a rule don’t run, sales. It lobs additional percentages off already-generously reduced prices you won’t be able to find anywhere else on the internet. It’s compelled brands to begin markdowns on seasonal items that won’t be publicly discounted for days or even months. When I reached out to brands with this idea, I proposed at least 20% off to provide real value to readers, but some came back with more—codes for as much as 50% off, and with sale-on-sale offers netting out in the 80s.
These extensive discounts are available only to paid-tier subscribers, as a thanks for supporting. If you’re not yet a paying subscriber, you can upgrade at any time and get access to the discounts immediately (though some expire at the end of the day). It’s $5 a month of $50 a year. I’m dropping a sign-up button here if that’s of interest:
If you’re curious about what lies behind the paywall, I’m proud to share the bananas collection of brands I was able to bring aboard for the first ever Magasin Private Sale, plus a taste of the discounts they’re granting our little community.
Maria McManus, Alex Mill, Fforme, Baserange, Nu Swim, Hudson Wilder, Sensoria, Everybody.World, Regime des Fleurs, Lié Studio, and Maison d'Etto are extending 20% off their entire sites, including already-on-sale sections, while La Collection and A.P.C. roll out an extra 15% off their archive sales as does By Malene Birger on full-price. Lesse ups it to 25%.
Colleen Allen and Ruadh, brands so new that neither have hosted a sale in their entire existence, have each offered 20% off for the first time ever. Fane, while already several years old, has also never been on sale, yet it’s extending 20% off exclusively here.
Attersee, Emme Parsons, Agmes, and Brooke Callahan are giving Magasin readers the chance to pre-shop their Black Friday sales before they go live to the public, where discounts reach up to 80% off.
Déhanche sweetens its currently running tiered sale with an extra $20 off any order. Outline fires up its FW24 sale at 25% off, even though those pieces won’t be officially marked down until January. On top of an extra-20%-off-sale offer, L’Ensemble also invites readers to use the discount on full-price Proenza and Veronica De Piante.
And for one day only, J.Hannah jewelry is 20% off, while the nail polish line is a whole 50% off, exclusively here.
