291: The spreadsheetiest of the spreadshot
Plus Auralee x Tekla, Parker Posey's boots for $150, and a Great Eros closing sale.
It’s been a week since launching the Fall Shopping Spreadsheet, and about twice as long since I became fully immersed in it. So what hit? My click data is a bit patchworked, culled manually across various linking sites, but there were a few sure winners.
Metier’s Private Eye Bag and Alex Mill’s waxed barn jacket were at the very top, neck and neck with Citizens of Humanity’s Ayla jeans (they practically sold out) and J.Crew’s relaxed v-neck knit (it’s on sale for less than $85).
Baserange’s classic Omato turtleneck (only $120) went spreadsheet-viral, as did Buck Mason’s belted trench and St. Agni’s on-sale wrap pants and black denim maxi skirt. I’m pretty sure the spreadsheet made this 6397 Chore Coat sell out, but it’s in stock here. Likewise, this Alex Mill Frontier Jacket was in much fuller inventory when I last checked…
Some honorable mentions: a double-zip cashmere sweater from Me+Em; on-sale Swedish Stockings thin cotton socks; Comme Si’s cotton flannel separates (on my personal wishlist) and its merino socks; Studio Nicholson’s dark curved denim; Veilance’s puffer-that-doesn’t-look-like-one; a silver Sapir Bachar necklace and sub-$70 Ana Luisa hoops; really good 6397 parachute pants; an MM6 mini skirt (60% off); also a Kotn mini skirt that’s only $68.
Among the most-clicked brand landing pages, ostensibly from people discovering or re-discovering them, were Damson Madder, Ozma, Sea, Jamie Haller, and No.6.
Remind me to tell you everything I shopped next week…
What’s new
Auralee x Tekla!!! (Links to Mens, Womens, and Everything Else on SSENSE.) A team project so perfect I almost don’t know where one starts and the other begins. The capsule spans loungewear(-as-outerwear) and home, most temptingly with a robe coat that reads like a hybrid of my own Lauren Manoogian and Lemaire coats. The color choices, taupe as a neutral anchor to soft lime and baby teal, work great on everything from poplin PJ shirts to bath towels.
The RealReal is coming for
’s stronghold over celebrity resale events, uploading an edit from the closets of Kate Moss, Parker Posey, Marisa Tomei, Natasha Lyonne, and Julianne Moore…it’s been predictably cannibalized, but you can still find Kate Moss’ Marc Jacobs pantsuit for under $2,000; Julianne Moore’s The Row trench (also under $2k); Janicza Bravo’s High Sport pants for under $500 Rebecca Hall’s Prada 2012 skirt likewise under $500; and Parker Posey’s No. 6 boots for just $150. Everything that’s left is filed under “Closets for Conservation.”The major jaw-droppers from Khaite’s R25 collection—its tightly buttoning leather jacket, a Yohij-esque floor-length coat, this precious organza top and its dress counterpart—landed at MyTheresa as part of an exclusive. Will leave you with this carousel of Nara Smith in case there’s any uncertainty about why it’s so good.
I couldn’t even tell you what’s new to Phoebe Philo’s “Third edit, third delivery” and what’s been there, but I will say I have a huge urge for these zip-up leather gloves. I think they are from the previous batch, but I am rationalizing spending $1,000 slowly more with each passing day. The cleavage heels are also working on me.
If only you could smell this news: Merit expands into fragrance with its surprisingly elegant Retrospect exrait de parfum; Matiere Premiere introduces five new extraits, which, by the way, is the most concentrated of personal scent categories; and Loewe adds to its home fragrance lineup with the Textura Collection, poured into familiarly shaped jars with a new pumice-like grit.
Designer-creative Amelie Pichard reopens her ecomm concept shop, which sells only one thing at a time and is closed 300 out of 365 days of the year. For the next few hours, you can pre-order a croc-hardware’d leather clutch for a not-unreasonable price of $599, to be delivered mid-December.
There’s also: Proenza Schouler and Sorel release an inclement weather shoe capsule comprising an ankle boot and a clog—reinterpretations of Sorel’s Maribou with added height; Metier (who I’m calling the American Hermes) is now on SSENSE; and Fruity Booty launches Second Skin, an Oscalito-inspired line of basics.
Men’s releases
Colbo’s FW24 collection leans more into suiting than the brand has in the past, putting to use hand-sourced textiles from Tuscany, which I remember Tal going out to select after debuting the brand’s previous collection during Paris Men’s. He’s in Japan currently, launching a collaboration with Porter Yoshida that’s coming on November 2. No sleep for the truly committed!
Not only has Baserange expanded into men’s with a solid lineup of cotton-jersey boxers, tanks, and tees (of a great and hard-to-find heft), it’s also running a 15% off promo with MEN15 for the month to usher in the new category.
Nanushka joins Zara for a collection that includes men’s and homewares (RWS-certified wool coats are under $350…it’s hard to deny).
Home releases
The Carroll Gardens cafe and home goods store DAE (which once banned Instagram and is yet still the most popular backdrop for quaint neighborhood content) has launched ecomm. Its glassware, sterling silver, candles, and whatnot range from irresistibly minimalist Japandi to intricate and downright strange. Anyone within walking distance already knows this, but it’s a top tier option for gifting.
These days, brands are curators and tableware is fashion. Moreso around the holidays, when you get the likes of Mansur Gavriel launching MG General Store, a hub for shopping not only shoes and bags, but a revival of the brand’s lamentably sunsetted knitwear, Italian glass candle holders, wooden puzzles, duck-shaped doorstoppers, and even pasta. It’s charming, really.
What’s on sale
One of those hate-to-see-you go-love-to-watch-you-walk-away moments, but The Great Eros, Williamsburg’s chicest intimates shop for the past eight years, is closing. It’s hosting a massive liquidation sale now down to 80% off. Yes to all the bras and French-cut underwear, but also the RTW including sheer tees, vacation-y skirts, and lounge pants suitable for the outside world.
Credo Beauty’s sale is on (it ends today, though), putting the whole site on sale for 20% off. My personal call-outs as a beauty minimalist are Heretic’s Dirty Hinoki fragrance, Corpus’ Neroli deodorant, and this Moon Juice Acid Potion exfoliant that will last…seriously forever.
Marseille’s loveliest hand-pleating brand Azur is selling off some of its “defective” pieces, which, naturally, are not really defective at all, but wabi sabi deviations from their more uniform cousins. Scrunchies, dresses, skirts, and tops in appropriately coastal hues are selling fast.
I had to do a double-take, but pieces in A Personal Uniform’s archive sample sale are going for as low as $10. The Bangkok operation has been on my radar for a few seasons, since someone alerted me of it in a previous Fall Shopping Spreadsheet, and now I have to wonder whether there’s a future ahead for the graduate project-cum-cult label, or if this spells the end?
Maybe you remember that Eckhaus Latta collaborated with Depop on their most recent “fashion show” during NYFW—a dinner feat an impromptu runway of friends and fam wearing past-season pieces sourced from the resale platform. Well, the partnership continues, now facing the opposite direction, with Eckhaus Latta itself listing samples at good markdowns. I’ve got my eyes on you, crunchy brown rain jacket.
We’re not there yet, but we’re about to tip over into full-scale sale season, as evidenced by all of the in-person archive sales happening this week. Bergdorf’s gift card event is another auspice of the coming season, offering up to $1,500 in credit for $5,000 spends.
There’s a kind of hidden Tibi archive sale going on—it’s not hugely advertised on homepage, but if you navigate to Outlet, there’s a ton of pieces marked down dipping below the $100 waterline.
There’s also: The Rita Row archive sale is on and serving all manner of cords and knits seekers; and Banana Republic is offering 40% off full-price items and an extra 20% off sale…pas mal!
