274: NYFW Days 4 + 5 / Take me to your leader
Plus COS' scrunchy clutch, Mrs. Zuck's robe, and only in the mood for one outfit.
Introducing Magasin’s pop-up Fashion Week newsletter-within-a-newsletter, where we’ll be covering shoppable observations from scenes of interest daily: New York Fashion Week, Days 4 + 5.
Weather report
70ºF / 21º C
Itinerary
Monday, Sept. 9
11a At Present x Jalil Johnson fine jewelry preview
1p Zankov show
2p TWP show
3p Caroline Zimbalist presentation* — the bioplastic jewelry designer turned to bioplastic RTW, plus a Melissa footwear collab whose show samples will be sold next week but won’t go into production
5p Diotima show*
7p Tory Burch show — there is more detail in Tory’s collections than can be expressed in a runway setting; I wish the brand would do re-sees after the show, but at least their blog coverage of the shoes, bags, and accessories is thorough
8p Mila Sullivan show*
Tuesday, Sept. 10
11:15a Rachel Comey show
1p COS show — a see-now-buy-now show, meaning the first drop is already available on the site; the styling was especially bullish on this clutch version of the brand’s viral quilted shoulder bag
2p Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen preview
3p Colleen Allen preview
6p Ashlyn preview + cocktail
7p Mulberry + Rejina Pyo cocktail — the 15-piece collab went live today and Reddit is already drooling over its olive leather bags

Shoppable observations
I sat next to Rebecca Zhou, founder of Soft Services and OffHours, at Rachel Comey and she gave me the tea on that photo of Zuck’s wife Priscilla wearing the OffHours robe. Apparently the brand didn’t even know she owned it—it wasn’t gifted and the placement was completely organic. The post spiked sales massively, despite it being August and most of their traction typically happening in winter/around the holidays. Reddit loved the whole thing, saying they had bought the robe as a treat after a spinal surgery, for their wives, added it to their baby registries, and said it was “way cheaper than expected” (addendum: “for billionaires”…it’s $295).
I ran into Mina Alyeshmerni at the Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen preview and heard that the almost entirely direct, made-to-order brand would soon be stocked in an exclusive capsule on her store Maimoun (it’s every fashion person’s best secret). The collection could land as early as next week—I’ll of course circle back here when that touches down. Until then, there are a few great, ready-to-ship pieces on ZGAW’s site.
The longest lines I’ve seen this week were for the new emerging-designer store in LES Komune (started by five full-time students as a temp shop before they made it permanent last month), a Jaded London popup, and the Old Friend photobooth on Orchard St that’s primed to have as many culture stories written about it as Dimes Square.
Alien of the day — this toile print at Tory Burch
Designed for TB by Spencer Malinski. This slice of freaky-deaky pleases me greatly.

Love the toile skirt but what's with the waist band?
Did your parakeet come home??
