When I touch sweet NYC pavement in roughly 4 hours (any in-flight movies I should watch?), I plan on being there for at least a month. Or, at least, I’m not going back to Europe until September.
Between Paris Men’s Week, a multi-city French tour of Baserange’s production network, and what might have been a real, actual vacation to Italy (still planning on writing it off, of course), I’ve spent about half my summer on the continent of my progenitors.
This period may count as the least colorful of my entire life, a trend in my dressing I expected to change in the season of poolside cocktails and 10pm sunsets, but apparently it hasn’t, and that’s fine? Totally solid, even? I suspect I may be on a back-to-basics journey, recalibrating what feels right in terms of fit and silhouette and on my body, and maybe then I’ll feel inspired to press past the navy blue threshold.
Toteme Double Pleated Trousers, $173 $510 / Flore Flore Hannah Tank, $85 / Fane Bra Bag, $610 / LoQ Gael Sandals, $325 / Saint Classic Leather Belt, $168
Where I wore it: Paris. Day one on my second trip through the city this summer. I had a dinner at Baserange’s showroom but needed to run an errand beforehand (returning the shirt I’d bought from Carven at Le Bon Marche the week before after realizing I wouldn’t wear it as much as I wished I would, womp womp).
Lauren Manoogian Double-Knit Jacket, $590 / Bourienne Paris Crepescule Shirt, $380 / The Row Gala Cady Pants, $1,090 / A.Emery The Kinto Sandal, $160
Where I wore it: Toulouse. Took a flight from Paris to Toulouse to visit some of Baserange’s suppliers; it was a miracle I didn’t get any woad splotches on my linen shirt from our dyeing demo with Denise Lambert of Bleu Pastel.

Toteme Double Wool Top, $535 $820 / Jeanerica Belem Shorts, $210 / Le Monde Beryl Leather Regency Wedge Mule, $555 / vintage Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Hobo XL, $2,214 / vintage (pre-LVMH) Rimowa Checked Bag, $585
Where I wore it: Gaillac. More facility tours, this time to a hemp mill run by Virgo Coop and and Baserange’s exclusive knitting factory Missegle.
Right
Baserange Dydine Linen Dress, $180 / A.Emery The Kinto Sandal, $160
Where I wore it: Castres. Dinner at Domaine Du Castelet with the group where we also stayed overnight.
Agnes B. Cotton Blouse (similar from Black Comme Des Garçons, $223 $310) / Realisation Par Boxer Shorts, $69 / Lemaire x Filt Net Shopping Bag, $220 / A.Emery The Kinto Sandal, $160 / Ayllon Livia Multi Necklace, $108
Where I wore it: Marseille. Spent the day on the water with my French-est bounty: a new Agnes B. blouse, my Lemaire x Filt shopper, a €5 towel from a souvenir shop for last minute-boating plans…that pink and red are the most color my wardrobe has known in months.

Lauren Manoogian Double-Knit Jacket, $590 / Leset Margo Tee, $65 / Donni Baby Rib Scallop Pant, $148 / Jamie Haller The Ballet Slipper, $505 / Cubitts Wakefield Frames, $200
Where I wore it: JFK > CDG. My airport fit at one point featured brat-green flip flops from the ExpresSpa in Terminal 4. Pedicure before the flight is a revelation.
Right
Baserange Capas Jacket, $390 / Leset Margo Tee, $65 / The Row Gala Cady Pants, $1,090 / A.Emery The Kinto Sandal, $160
Where I wore it: CDG > JFK. The yang to my arrival flight fit’s yin and the blueprint of a travel formula to fall back on.
The Row Patti Jersey Top, $1,190 / The Row Gala Cady Pants, $1,090 / A.Emery The Morgan Sandal, $160 / Fane Bra Bag, $610 / Little Liffner Banana Chain Bracelet, $575
Where I wore it: Florence. It was 95º out but raining, so a “sporty” little ensemble worked well. The Row’s version of the classic quarter-zip long-sleeve may well be overkill for some—Athleta’s is $99 and Alo’s is $98—but its logoless-ness and deepest black give it a lot of power in my book. The Row’s looser-fit jacket version, the Estrella, is also half off on SSENSE right now if that’s interesting to you.

Sold Out NYC The Everything Shirt, $195 / Baserange Kolla Shorts, $110 / Xero Shoes Genesis Sandal, $50
Where I wore it: Casaprota; Gradoli. This combo became my favorite fallback look for days kicking around doing more outdoorsy things. By that I mean laying in a hammock and touring Le Coste’s vineyards.
Right
Oscalito Cotton Camisole (similar, $75) / Baserange Kolla Shorts, $110 / Martiniano Glove Shoe, $490
Where I wore it: Florence. Pretty much just to go back and forth between my room at the Hotel Torre di Bellosguardo and the 13th century estate’s pool.
Oscalito Wool & Silk Camisole, $79 / Linnea Lind x Laura Reilly Laura Skirt, $450 / A.Emery The Morgan Sandal, $160 / Fane Bra Bag, $610 / Studio Deve Santo Sospir Bangle, $650 / Dorsey Leonora Link Bracelet, $290 / Casa Shop vintage gold ring (similar, $550) / Azur World Plisse Silk Scrunchie, $85
Where I wore it: Ladispoli. For dinner at La Posta Vecchia. It’s always a little silly and fun changing clothes just to stay in the same place. My whole morning had been spent rotting in a swimsuit on the lounge chairs on the terrace and in the indoor pool, until I went up to my room and put on a dinner look that I’d wear a few yards away. For the occasion of manufacture, I wore the skirt I designed with Linnea Lund (haven’t met a temperature it doesn’t work in yet) and one of the Oscalito tanks I got in Florence.

Vintage Gucci Tank (similar, $325) / Michelle Del Rio Soledad Skirt, $325 / Martiniano Glove Shoe, $490 / Lemaire x Filt Net Shopping Bag, $220 / Little Liffner Banana Chain Bracelet, $575
Where I wore it: Bolsena. A whimsical flourish for a whimsical lakeside beach town. Our lodging—the Hotel Royal, as with the rest of the lake’s frilly trim—remained undisturbed by time since progress last visited it sometime in the 1960s.
Right
Schostal Roma Tank (similar from Dion Lee, $96 $320) / The Row Gala Cady Pants, $1,090 / A.Emery The Morgan Sandal, $160
Where I wore it: Rome; Ladispoli. A multi-purpose outfit that took me shopping around Rome and to dinner at L’Angolo Divino (had a bonkers Massa Vecchia sangiovese), then on the hour drive to La Posta Vecchia the following day.

I assume the kinto sandals are comfortable since you opt for them often — are they comfy enough to walk around in all day? And relatively durable?
Hi! Are the double pleat toteme trousers you wore in paris lightweight? I’m assuming so since you wore in the summer but it’s 45% wool so double checking (I live in warm weather)
