178: Emergency party clothes
The same-day delivery pieces you'll probably see me wearing this week.
Sponsored by NET-A-PORTER
NET-A-PORTER emailed me about partnering with the newsletter at the exact moment I was browsing NET-A-PORTER. (Can they see me? Should I pull down the blinds?) I’d realized that I had more holiday parties coming up than I had budgeted outfits for, so I was looking around for a few pieces that would cover me over the next couple of weeks, from the one place I knew would arrive in time thanks to same-day delivery in New York. Thusly, this post was born.
The site’s edit lends it a certain “look” that I find to be extra relevant around the holidays, when you’re down to lean into theme dressing without the risk of looking costume-y (or cheap!). This breed of glam with integrity is NET-A-PORTER’s bread and butter. The bullseye edit of options is further honed in its party shop, a not-obvious selection of stuff that’d be great to wear drinking Ghia/Yola/adaptogenic cocktails and eating dressed-up fries (thank god) but that also has clear use cases past December 31st.
A handful of pieces made it into my final cart, the one where making those last chops becomes emotional work—revisiting the Liberowe coat of the season from this post and the Tove top I should have stolen when I had the chance, connecting with my inner Don Quixote over a Hunting Season sack bag, and building a thousand future looks around these Le Monde Beryl party flats (that are only $400).
Below, all of the last-minute holiday party buys you might just see me wearing this week.
Liberowe + NET SUSTAIN velvet-trimmed wool coat, $3,000 (as seen in my long coats and what to wear beneath them deep dive, love it in gray) / Alighieri The Lunar Rocks Gold-Plated Necklace, $325 / Oséree Gem Crystal-Embellished Tulle Mini Dress, $350 / Hunting Season Lola Satin Shoulder Bag, $725 (“sack” bags are my new evening default…like I told a friend recently, my favorite handbags are ones that you’d wear when riding in on a donkey) / Proenza Schouler Twisted Open-Back Velvet Gown, $1,590
Dima Ayad Convertible Popcorn Lamé and Plissé-Crepe Gown, $1,030 (the poof is removable) / Dries Van Noten Floral-Print Plissé-Silk Blouse, $1,030 / Paco Rabanne 1969 Moon Chainmail Shoulder Bag, $1,225 / Acne Studios Dimena Cutout Floral-Print Shell Midi Dress, $1,650 (the MVP from the collection, this Fern Gully dress absolutely gutted me when I saw it on the rack at a preview a while back)
Blazé Milano Everyday Double-Breasted Wool-Felt Blazer, $1,735 / Jacquemus Gold-Tone and Taffeta Earrings, $385 / Tove Raynara Strapless Gathered Satin Top, $1,845 (I got to try this top on recently and, wow…was a great mini dress for us shorties, too) / Le Monde Beryl Leather-Trimmed Mesh Mary Jane Ballet Flats, $400
