123: The denim shorts that converted me are under $70
Birkenstock on SSENSE, YSL at Noihsaf, and Loro Piana from Net-A-Porter.
Named for the large, vertical newspaper format, think of this weekly supplement as a shopping cheat sheet cribbed from far-reaching corners of the internet.

SSENSE
I was at a party this week wearing a very cute top that got a lot of compliments (this Christopher Esber one since you asked), meanwhile I was giving compliments to another girl at the party wearing another very cute top—it was this sparkly mohair vest by 16Arlington, a brand that deserves more love in this newsletter, frankly; a couple weeks back I recommended this Maridaubi crochet skirt, and I think this Shawna Wu mini has the same unexpected versatility about it…I’m imagining all the layering possibilities over a straight leg pant, a longer sheer skirt, a little dress peeking past the hem; a devastatingly chic woman I dined next to at Kings was wearing a fitted black vest and boy did she look RICH—this MNZ one on sale worn solo for summer is my whole vibe right now (I bought it); I rarely get in on sneaker collabs on the ground floor and then feel like I’ve missed my window to make them my whole personality (the Khaite x adidas, the Wales Bonner x adidas in silver), but these Auralee x New Balances came out recently enough and are a totally considered, wearable shoe for trepidatious sneaker tourists like myself; and rare, but there are some normal Birk Bostons on sale at SSENSE rn.
re-sale
I’m completely stuck on the most recent delivery of Pleats Please, which includes some of the best patterned (denim!) pieces I’ve seen from the line in ages…this archive “denim jacket” is under $600 (and this one is under $350), an easier pill to swallow than the latest’s $750; two summers ago saw the universalization of the ribbed white tank, last year, it was the square-neck tank, now it’s the muscle tee—like this pristine Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche cotton vest (for $35)—that’s staging its deposition; in case you’re looking for a dynamic travel tote to pop on top of your Rimowa, here’s an authenticated Prada Tessuto in great condition for just $270; mesh flats this mesh flats that, anyway here’s a pair of sheer-y The Row slippers that look to be covered in tinsel (? I love them.); and I have and can’t recommend this impractical Paco Rabanne disc dress (obviously styled backwards by TRR) enough…I dare you to find a better all-about-me party dress.
and everywhere else.
Summer is an underrated time to buy and wear boots when they balance out the skimpiness of a lot of looks and you can find them in your size with less competition—these Proenza Schoulers would have almost definitely been sold-out in October; last time these Avery Gregory mineral earrings went up on Maimoun they also sold out practically at once, but this time a few of the best pairs, all hand-sourced from around the world, have stuck around; Lissie Chappell turned me onto these Nu Swim shorts, perfect for traipsing around in all season to literally any event of any level of formality; a sublimely luxurious beach bag from Loro Piana that actually does feel worth it if you have $2,200 to spare; and when a reader wrote in asking me to recommend a pair of jean shorts my first instinct was simply “no <3” but almost as soon as I left my apartment that day, a woman walked past me wearing a pair of knee-length denim shorts cut narrowly to the leg with a tucked-in gray t-shirt and Hermes Oran sandals…these very reasonably priced ones from Massimo Dutti are the closest I’ve found and work best because of their minimal “distressing” and finished hem.
