092: Margiela at SSENSE, Claude Montana on Souvenir, and Nicklas Sovgaard at Holly Golightly
A pair of Coach kitten heels sets today's mood.
Named for the large, vertical newspaper format, think of this weekly supplement as a shopping cheat sheet cribbed from far-reaching corners of the internet.
An item to set today’s mood: Coach Winnie Suede Kitten Heels.
This is not a post about Coach’s Winnie suede kitten heel loafers (they are discontinued anyway), but rather all suede kitten heel loafers. Every few years I remember this silhouette exists and realizes it solves all of my shoe problems: It’s closed-toe (something I’m generally allergic to lest the weather insists) but not bulky, lifted but not cumbersome, easy to jump into, and kind of fussy-looking in an identity-borrowing way. For reasons beyond explanation, it’s best if they are second-hand, sourced from an old mall brand or Prada, and never for more than $150, tops. Coach, Stuart Weitzman, Cole Haan, Tods, Franco Sarto, and Ferragamo are all excellent SEO fodder for kicking off your eBay/Etsy muckaround.
Best of…
SSENSE
The Puppets and Puppets lace leggings I was eyeing hard on both the SS23 and FW23 runway are finally out—at least the white version are; Emily Dawn Long’s SSENSE capsule bears this excellent genderless gem, the Jeff Shirt that’s simply the superior button-down; MM6 remains one of SSENSE’s best deals, this illusion top delivering paramount sensual Margiela-ness for less than $400; Gigamuas, too, can’t be topped in terms of price, especially with this $78 dress for all ye vacation-bound; and low-rise baggy Agoldes might well be the perfect jeans for our times (I just bought them and already feel such huge relief for the rest of my wardrobe).
re-sale
I went down a rabbit hole searching for vintage designer bustier dresses, finding so many cuties but being particularly charmed by this lil ruffly Moschino number; an olive The Row leather wrap jacket for around $600—or this longer, cream leather trench for double that (still a great price!); we realistically still have a while to wait, but it does feel like spring is coming…and with it, the wearing of narrowly veiled bras as tops, like this very hot, side boob-y Alaïa knit crop; again, spring, which would be a great time to wear this deliriously cool Claude Montana bikini with skirt bottoms (or if you’re still clinging to winter, this shaggy Montana coat is one in a a million); and look! A smart leather Loewe box bag for just a hair over $200.
and everywhere else.
As meditated on last send, Loewe’s gangbusters SS23 collection has partially arrived, including these Minnie Mouse puffy pumps (and the rubber balloon shoes for the more daring among us); Nicklas Sovgaard is the name in all our mouths lately, and aside from his current buy at Cafe Forgot, you can find a handful of his pieces like this wooly cap at Danish store Holly Golightly; my favorite from Toteme’s latest crop, this double-scarf wrap trench, is an unlikely few hundred off already; since dropping by to see the latest twice-yearly collection from Attersee some months ago, I can’t get this absolutely perfect tailored tank out of my head (it comes in several fabrics/colors); and Rodarte, who we lovveeeee lately, has this princess dress in a few sizes left for half off at Net-A-Porter’s sale.

Thank you! Did you take your regular size in the Agolde jeans? Guess it depends on body type - I'm narrow in the hip and thicker around the waist.
In love with those shoes 😍
