036: We've got their SSENSE sale receipts
What cool, interesting people actually bought from the sale, ending tomorrow.
The three-months-on-three-months-off SSENSE sale cycle is, as I forewarned earlier this week, tilting ominously back towards a state of withholding. With the site’s homepage banner now reading “Act Now — All Sales Ending March 7th 23:59 EST,” we’re barely past the 36 hour mark of the countdown on the best source of discounted designer and emerging talent on the internet.
Many bouts of basket filling later, I made my last purchase from the sale—a pair of Fendi FF logo mesh mules I wrote about on Tuesday that I couldn’t keep away. Ever the voyeur, I was perversely curious as to what the exceptional dressers in my orbit found exceptional enough to buy themselves.
Below, in their own words, what nine fashion-fluent individuals bought from the SSENSE sale. And wouldn’t you know it? Most things are still available—and hundreds of dollars off.

“I’m such a warm weather person and I’m fleeing New York for the remainder of winter so most of my purchases have been gearing up for the summer. The one cold weather purchase I got was the Chloé x Moon Boot snow boots that represent my peak material gwol/winter bimbo persona. I’ll likely save these for next year… the deal was just too good.
I got two things from A. Roege Hove, which I think are no longer on the site. The long version of this black dress and the blue version of this skirt. I love anything that’s semi sheer and their colors are so easy to be paired.
I’m also so excited about this Isa Boulder top that is so so flattering and highlights what I love about my body most: my boobs, my waist and my arms lol.
My most splurgy piece was this Isabel Marant wool coat, which is sooo chic and I guess it’s another cold weather piece? I think it’s a good one that’ll carry me throughout the spring.”

“I’ve had my eye on these Toteme trousers for a while—I mean it’s a total classic. I’m in need of a staple white trouser for Spring and summer and I know these will be made with the type of craftsmanship I appreciate in my wardrobe essential rotation.
These Gimaguas shorts aren’t usually something i’d gravitate toward. But, while in Malibu I saw a lot of cute girls with knitted shorts on and I got inspired while sitting on the beach. These are going to be so chic this summer with a white oxford shirt and strappy shoes.
Over the years, i’ve come to treasure pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways. Toteme constantly crafts new items that are trans-seasonal, and this dress is perfect for layering. I can’t wait to wear it with knee-high boots, chunky loafers, or even a mule.”

“I needed to practice some restraint after blowing probably a full paycheck on pasta and vintage in Milan (oops), but I couldn't let an SSENSE sale go by without adding at least one new thing to my closet. I had just seen the photos from Berlin-based Anne Isabella's PFW debut when I stumbled upon this top, marked down to a mere $71 from $235, so I considered it kismet. I'm a sucker for a good layerable mock neck, and these beige, khaki, and black stripes will blend seamlessly into my existing wardrobe.”

“Well this round of the sale shopping I bought all of the things that I hate paying full price for. Girlfriend Collective leggings, (fav but full price for activewear, not me), Li-Ning sneakers, a Nike tennis dress, and a bunch of the Skims Fits Everybody bralettes, which happen to be the most comfortable and supportive lounge bras of all time.
A kooky order this round. But seriously, paying full price for something I plan to sweat in… I can’t.”

“SSENSE sale, the one that got away. I sadly missed out of several sizes in my wishlist (Commission, Peter Do, Dion Lee)—more note to jump faster next time Laura drops a sale tip. I was however able to snag the Jil Sander knee-high boots in my size. Knee-high boots have become my new repeat purchase. The A. Roege Hove dress, my new naked dress, will hopefully arrive in time to debut at a dear friends upcoming bash, will be worn with my Kye Intimates two-piece sheer set underneath, and perhaps nothing else. I’ve been deeply crushing on Agmes after wearing a pair of their earrings over fashion week. Sadly the pair I was eyeing on this sale sold out, but this Gertrude necklace feels like a timeless new staple. And lastly, the Jacquemus
Navy 'Le Pitchou' Wallet, which I'm not sure how I did not already own, this feels like a stylist's right hand during busy days.

“Had to snag the Bottega boots, I am a cowgirl at heart so anything with a western feel is right up my alley. The Row dress is giving elevated bohemian yet still minimalist. Carhartt WIP essentials because these are my everyday pieces, again, having grown up in the barn, I still love my workwear. The COMME des GARCONS top I’m going to wear on date night.”

“Its 7 a.m., no one’s awake, but I am on SSENSE taking a long shot for the what ifs, until I realize the ifs are in my favor and I find a last pair of MNZ Garbardine Trousers in grey. With that said, my grandmother told me to pick a gift for my new apartment, and luckily I found a set of White Ring Leonne bowls by Hudson Wilder, which I discovering by way of Beverly’s shop on 5th Ave last summer.”

“The SSENSE sale makes self control so hard hahah, here’s what I decided on in the end:
This pair of straight leg denim from Random Identities—there’s something about the fit of men’s denim that I love. These easy black Margiela trousers. Matching bathing suits from Akoia swim for an upcoming West Coast road trip with my little sister (who gets which color is TBD but they’re both amazing). This baby T from Mowalola, who’s one of my favorite emerging designer right now. And an adorable little lilac tank from Petra Collins “I’m Sorry.””

“I love these white Marni trousers. They are perfectly high-waisted and will be a spring staple for sure. I’m a big Jacquemus fan because I love color. This electric blue bra is so happy to me. I figured I could layer it or wear it with a blazer. (I wore it to see Dua Lipa at MSG w/ a blazer.)”
