Rooms is an interiors column by Laura Reilly featuring room-by-room shopping, furniture and decor wishlists, and renovation projects at home in Brooklyn.

To everyone asking me “how’s the renovation going?” only for me to answer: “We haven’t even started yet!!!” That’s not entirely true. While our apartment is more or less identical to when we bought it two years and one month ago, we’ve been making improvements to the rest of the building—two upper floor apartments, including one we’ve only just finished redoing. The plan is that we’ll move into that one while the real renovation on our place is going down. In the meantime, we’ll furnish it as a guest apartment for when friends and family visit from out of town.

When we do finally finish our own project and move back home, the guest apartment will go back on the market, which means designing neutrally enough to accommodate whoever’s style, whatever their stuff. Not the time for accent wallpaper, but really good practice on making quick-succession look-and-feel decisions.

On the next Rooms, furniture, decor, filling in the gaps, and hopefully then, a finished guest apartment to debut.

Living + Dining

Building

The best part of homeownership is wall freedom. You can just get rid of them! We took down the wall separating the living room and an adjoining office, increasing the living area footprint and letting a whole bunch more light reach the common space. One of my favorite parts of the apartment now is walking in and seeing the arched stained glass of the church across the street perfectly framed in this newly revealed window.

Buying

The Louis Poulsen PH5 ceiling lamp that had been languishing since I assembled it myself at the brand’s outside-Copenhagen factory earlier this year finally found a permanent home in the freshly carved-out dining nook. It is perfect there. In the living area (and open kitchen), I had been imagining a pair of these Geo Sunset Pendants, but with delivery times and costs in mind, I settled for two of these more affordable West Elm dish style semi-flush mounts (currently en route).

Wishlisting

The furniture. That’s the next phase of the project. I have made progress getting a few items lined up for this part of the apartment—a Lulu and Georgia slipcover sofa, Four Hands daybed, a table and barrel chairs from my family home, and a Hollywood Regency shell table from an earlier Live Auctioneers phase I’ll bring up from our apartment downstairs. All of this will be in the next Rooms column about furnishing the space.

Whatever feelings you may have about AI, I will say, I have been using an app called Gendo to mock up various room layouts and think it’s pretty brilliant at adding in furniture exactly as it looks without altering the original room image—a money saver knowing ahead of time what works and what absolutely doesn’t.

Kitchen

Building

An entirely new kitchen. IKEA. We ripped the old corner one out, drew a square layout, and stretched out its perimeter, including an island to anchor it and pre-empt a storage crisis. Appliances all came with the house.

There was a whole foundation saga though: Our (otherwise great) contractor Mahmoud wanted the floor to be truly flat so that the appliances would sit properly, even though the rest of the apartment is leaning to the center. He poured leveler, laid the tile, and now that section sticks up on one side by about half an inch. He eventually admitted that we should have just built at an angle, but alas. Live and learn.

What else…We moved the ceiling light source to be centered with the newly expanded kitchen area. Installed under-cabinet lighting (pleasant!). Probably another thing!

Buying

A dryer to sit under the island, across from the washing machine. Can you imagine! We don’t even have those in our apartment. The other half of the West Elm dish pendant pair to mirror the living room.

Wishlisting

Pretty and practical things to make the kitchen make sense, but TBH those are too small and specific and behind cabinet doors to be thinking about when I’m all in on furniture until further notice.

Bed

Building

Another instance of chiseling away at the marble until you free the angel trapped inside (demolishing walls to make bigger rooms). This space, once two small bedrooms, is now an embarrassment of square footage by New York standards, a feeling that’s amplified by the wall-to-wall mirror-front closets. (IKEA Pax! Why reinvent everything!) Maximizing closet space was a priority, given that my entire wardrobe will be migrating up here soon…

Buying

A room-wide seafoam Nordic Knots rug has been waiting in the wings since we bought this place, truly our first acquisition when we imagined we’d be giving our unit the exact treatment we just exacted on this space (wall ruthlessness), but it’s since drifted to plans for a gut reno, as discussed in previous issues of Rooms. Osvaldo Borsani’s Villa Borsani is the moodboard for this room, our seafoam king. We just need to lug the thing up from the basement…these rugs are no joke.

Lighting is half renovation-half furniture, so as with the Louis Poulsen that made its way to the dining nook, a pair of Herman Miller Nelson Cigar Wall Sconces are already installed on either side of the eventual bed. Cuties.

Wishlisting

I’ve staged the room with the exact Thuma Signature Headboard Bed that’s in our own bedroom because it’s honestly just great. The upholstery gives it that round softness, and the oatmeal beige works well with the shades of teal. I’m also toying with this Flos Ariette 2 fabric ceiling lamp (not well represented by AI), or maybe another soft-construction pendant. Paper, perhaps.

Bath

Building

A whole new bathroom, down to the studs. I think the tile arrangement we landed on is quite elegant and effective while being no more expensive than regular degular tiling. A narrow trim of tile “molding” frames the shower and brings the wall away from the floor. IDK. It’s hard to photograph. It looks much better than before.

Buying

I had loooong wishlisted these fixtures from Maha Alavi’s Fauna series, but by the time I got them and went to install, I realized we’d never talked metal finishes—I’d gotten the polished nickel Maha Alavis, but Nir had purchased all chrome plumbing fixtures. I boxed them up and will be finding them a home in our bathroom downstairs instead. For here, I got a Zara Home towel shelf and CB2 roll holder.

The 60k lumen lamp seen here (just kidding—High Touch anyone?) is not the final fixture. A Murano caged glass pendant is on its way to set an era-appropriate mood for our Victorian. So’s this showerhead I just remembered I was tasked with ordering.

Not a shower curtain, I’ll say that much! Another perk of homeownership is putting up (glass) walls.

Building

Paint—the walls are Farrow & Ball Slipper Satin in a Modern Emulsion finish. Trim is Wimborne White in Estate Eggshell. We did a consultation with the brand a year ago, which I fully credit with how neat and inviting this looks. The times we’ve tried to guess-and-check have been disasters of proportions.

We sanded the pre-finished red oak planks for the first time in their lives and stained them (well, our floor guy did) in DuraSeal Rosewood.

Brass switch plates from Switch Hits. Ceiling medallions, baseboard trim, crown molding all Home Depot. Window boxes made by our handyman Slava. He did such beautiful work.

The thing about living in the world’s city is that we have every store, and you can just go in and try stuff on. For fashion students and fans, it’s a way to get off Vogue Runway and get to know design intimately and first-hand, and for editors and shoppers it adds a richer layer to a data set that might also include runway shows, re-sees, ecomm pages.

I’ve been thinking about Louise Trotter’s Bottega lately, and how she’s designing from a clothes- and dressing-first perspective that feels exceptionally New York for a Milan brand (she’s English), and tangibly feminine after an exclusively male run of creative directors. Down to which pieces her archivist eye pulls back into circulation (e.g. the 1998 intrecciato “grandma bag”—the ostrich feather version remains the most remarkable purse I’ve ever laid eyes on).

There’s also the whole matter of in-store exclusives and runway adaptations that I never would have seen if I hadn’t let myself in: a hulking gym bag-sized version of that feather bag, exquisite Murano amber glass grape-bauble jewelry, a pair of silver-brushed python mules that felt like mine before they even touched my feet…

• We have new The Row. Its Winter ’26 collection reached the site yesterday, and each new arrival carries defining characteristics that make my writing easy: the Piro sweater whose V-neck shifts the shape-to-want to a narrower downward-facing spear; the sporty-geeky Audrey camera bag that insists on ripping the idea of chic further away from “ladylike”; the Kenton pant, its widest-wale corduroy yet; inevitably a cummerbund. Also want to double down an the assertion I made last week about bookish folios being the bag shape for fall—Phoebe had the Splay, The Row introduces the Therese.

• I follow Métier movement like a hawk, and while new releases aren’t too frequent, the just-arrived fall collection offers up some pretty momentous new styles and long-anticipated updates on the classics—particularly the Private Eye’s new gold-tone hardware. The Moonraker style is worth the most airtime, though, a softly A-frame bowler in 30cm and 40cm options, in pebbled leather and suede. It’s adorable and intimidating at the same time.

• The high-low collaboration machine is kicking into high gear for fall. On Friday, the second installment from Victoria Beckham and Gap is available to shop, featuring a smart combo of UK-meets-US staples like denim, an army green parka, and a Chesterfield coat. Also from Gap Inc. is a Banana Republic collection with Zankov (a.k.a the newly minted artistic director of DVF), featuring cashmere sweaters in an array of cheerful colors, stripes galore, and a leather bomber jacket in a rich burgundy that looks more expensive than its $600 price. Uniqlo’s latest FW26 offerings from both JW Anderson and F.RISSO are online to shop (the former) and browse (the latter). Speaking of Anderson, he’s been especially busy: His capsule collection for UGG includes a mule-loafer style as well as a boot, in a trio of earthy colors—a burnt orange, khaki, and classic chestnut. Finally, A.P.C. teamed up with Barbour on a workwear-heavy range that includes rubber clogs, waterproof waxed jackets, and a rain resistant bucket hat.

• Another collaboration of note comes from Acne Studios and Hussein Chalayan who partnered on a tight range of conceptual pieces. The standout items come in patchworked denim in a wide variety of washes—a pair of jeans, a shirt, and a tie-detail mini dress are the stuff of collector’s dreams. There’s also a limited-edition book, entitled Reference: Hussien Chalayan, published on Acne’s imprint for the real archive-heads (at $100, it’s a nice entry into the collab, as the co-branded logo tees start at $410).

• New on the fragrance front: Perfumer H released a limited collection in collaboration with Bing Ding, a wood-fired porcelain kiln atelier, for sale in its Hong Kong store, consisting of teaware, teacups, soap trays and incense holders. Maison d’Etto has a new seasonal scent for fall, Pinehurst, a fruity-woody unisex that’s inspired by a horse and evokes crisp, autumn days spent riding. And Sangre de Fruta introduced its 1884 Mood Mist in partnership with the spa at the Chelsea Hotel—a bright, floral scent for body, hair, and linens that’s named for the year of the hotel's founding.

• There’s also: Lots of Roger Vivier newness at Bergdorf Goodman, including several colorways of their signature Belle Vivier slingbacks; Iris von Arnim is celebrating 50 years of cashmere with a $995 crewneck in a spectrum of vivid shades, from a sunny yellow to a seafoam green; the sweeping, shearling Sima coat by Nour Hammour is now shoppable online; and fashion’s love affair with all things literary continues with Madewell’s exclusive capsule with the New York Public Library, complete with a cute campaign starring authors like Danielle Prescod and Anika Jade Levy.

Men’s releases

• The latest collection from KITH and Giorgio Armani is inspired by the Italian designer’s iconic desert-themed campaigns from the ‘80s and ‘90s—so much so that the duo of brands held a runway show in Morocco’s Agafay Desert for its debut. The FW26 “Dreams of the Dune” range is, of course, as fit for the street as it is for sand, with classic cotton shirting, pleated pants, all-weather boots (in collaboration with Diemme), and a very Armani aviator jacket at a very Armani price ($10,500).

• Studio Nicholson’s Winter Module 2026 is now live, with more of the pitch-perfect wardrobe staples you’ve come to expect from designer Nick Wakeman: the chunky crewneck and polo knits, butter-soft leather jackets, and pleated pants are the sorts of pieces you buy now and wear forever.

• Ghiaia Cashmere is getting into the eyewear game in partnership with performance running brand District Vision. The duo of California-based labels came together to revive District Vision’s archival Yukari Windshield frames, which come in a glossy tortoiseshell colorway and are inspired by classic Italian eyewear.

Home releases

• Danny Kaplan Studio’s latest collaboration with Vince Patti of furniture design studio Lesser Miracle is here, including a desk, coffee table, console, and nightstand in white oak, inset with hand-glazed ceramic tiles—a Kaplan signature and a nod to Art Deco’s graphic geometry. The nightstand is a clear entry point at $6,500, with the prices for the remaining pieces available upon request.

• The holiday collection from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s lifestyle brand Mémoire is ready for anyone already thinking about what luxury goods you’ll be gifting this year. Leather pouches are the big story—there is a version in either ostrich-embossed or pebbled leather for day-to-day accessorizing, as well as a rounder version more suitable for travel. Leather notebooks (folios!), lanyards, and keychains are sweet keepsakes on offer as well.

• Casalta, the New York-based design studio founded by husband-and-wife duo Nathan and Catherine Bruckner, debuted a collection of home objects that’s now available to shop on their website. The curation includes jet-black lacquered coasters, trays, and a tabletop box, as well as glass vases and candlesticks to catch the light and accent any room.

• Beni Rugs has 8 new rugs on offer in its Chelsea Collection, designed with Colin King, which draws inspiration from the “hidden gardens of Europe's old cities.” This comes through in its palette of Pompeian Red, rich brown, midnight black, and moss green, with a series of geometric patterns inspired by nature and architectural elements, like ironwork and tiled mosaic.

• Monde Singulier, a platform for buying and discovering luxury furniture, introduced a new venture called MS Editions. Designed by Guillaume Delacroix, founder of brand strategy and communications firm DLX, MS Editions is “born from a desire to make considered design more accessible,” with a number of pieces coming in under €2000—including a mahogany armchair with a green velvet cushion and a coordinating cardinal coffee table .

• There’s also: Louis Poulsen is now offering the Vernon Panton-designed Panthella floor lamp with shades available in five different colors; Nordic Knots introduces the Moiré, a new patterned, paneled curtain with an iridescent quality; Lulu and Georgia’s new Élan Byrd collection includes a rose vintage sofa, a wavy, woven-frame mirror, and an ethereal nested-shade floor lamp designed by the interdisciplinary artist; Lone Fox and Joon Loloi team up once again for a line of rugs and pillows that explores antique tile work, geometric patterns, and animal print; cc-tapis x Rooms Studio's "Marks of Time" collection, part of the “Cold Warm” exhibition, is on view at Services Continu in Paris through November 7.

Hi! Welcome back to High Touch. When I launched this newsletter, multiple people reached out to me unprompted to tell me I had to speak to Kristina Holey. Cold emails, pulling me aside at events. It happened a lot. Kristina, a cosmetic chemist and skincare consultant, was framed to me as the thing that finally made a difference in people’s—sometimes lifelong—battles with their problematic skin.

Kristina formulates products for Marie Veronique, a philosophically in-step brand, but her consultations are a class of their own in a skin-support strategy that might also include a facialist, dermatologist, injector, acupuncturist, surgeon; she is the foremost topicals authority. We discuss the eight components of skin that can be addressed by product (and in which order), how to spot a real skincare brand as opposed to a marketing vehicle, diet-as-skincare myths, ingredient lists being enormously misleading, AI (inevitably), her network of trusted aestheticians in New York and California…lots more.

Laura Reilly: How do you describe what you do, and how did you arrive at this place?

Kristina Holey: I think of myself as a product designer. I work with a company called Marie Veronique and have for about 10 years—with the R&D department and designing skincare products. I'm also a skin health specialist and have been doing that for a little bit longer than working in the product world. I started off by building a business where I worked with women specifically with symptomatic skin. So, anything that related to inflammatory skin conditions was what was naturally coming to me in terms of clients that were wanting my support. I still work one day a week with clients. I do only virtual consultations, I don't see anyone in person.

My way into the industry was indirect. I wanted to be a perfumer. I went to school for engineering first, and then I did my Master’s in perfume chemistry and cosmetic chemistry in France. It was really my dream to be a niche perfumer. What I loved about the beauty industry was this ability of transformation, and fragrance was interesting to me because it was this medium in which you could communicate invisibly—you could transform your being in this secret way. I did start a little consulting company in Paris where I would go into people’s apartments and get to know their lifestyle, about their health, what they like, what made them feel beautiful, and then I would make them little trios of fragrances.

I got sideswept into skin in Paris by this woman who has a skin care center. Her name is Joëlle Ciocco, she still has it and it's very elite and crazy. Her treatments are like €3,000. She's a biochemist and we went to the same program for cosmetic chemistry. She brought me in as her intern; I had the intention of working in her lab and helping her with the formulation of her products, but then she convinced me to work in her center. I sat for an entire year in a chair next to her and watched her work with people, with the skin. I was really taken by that and her because it made me realize how complex the skin is—all the psychology and the emotional side that is involved with helping people feel beautiful. What an honor it is to have that role in working with primarily women.

After working with her I moved to New York and I started a practice there. I had never gone to school to become an aesthetician, but I started an aesthetician practice, which was a bit complicated because I didn't have a license or anything. I convinced the New York board of cosmetology that I had eight years of chemistry and biology and that I could sufficiently practice on people's skin and they gave me a license. It just kept evolving from that. I moved to California and I met Marie. We co-formulated a line specifically for my clients. This was about 10 years ago. And then our relationship really grew and kept getting stronger.

LR: When someone comes to you for a consultation, what is that top-down approach? Where do you start? What is the full scope of areas that you try to address?

Checking my intel channels after a fashion month spent on the ground, doing real-world reporting, I was a little jolted by what the retail machine had been up to and how little of it actually broke through. Over the course of a couple weeks, the…what we call “mall brands” but actually, they’re more like the impulse-buy brands we’d shop deskbound at 4pm on a Wednesday as Aquaphor for corporate ennui…have been raining down a hailstorm of packaged launches to varying degrees of attention-achieving.

Gap, in October alone, released a Simpsons collection, a Roy Lichtenstein collection in partnership with the Whitney, made costumes for Miami City Ballet, restocked the Hailey Bieber jeans, and sent out an embargoed PR release about another, fashion-ier collab coming in a week. Its sister brand Old Navy partnered with Altuzarra on a collaborative collection (why O.N. and not Gap, I can’t say, seems like a random choice). Its other sibling brand Banana Republic has me tied up by yet another embargo about yet another forthcoming, high-fashiony collaboration.

J.Crew, similarly busybodying the collab scene, released a follow-up collection with Barbour and expanded its partnership with ‘47 on college gear, both within a fortnight of its Eckhaus Latta NYFW debut. Yesterday it released J.Crew x American Girl (as in the dolls, for kids). Skims put out a collection with Ludovic de Saint Sernin and just unveiled its Alpine Collection. On came out with a second collection with Zendaya and continued its partnership with Loewe (despite new creative management). And Reformation finally released its Alexa Chung collab (which we scooped in last fashion month’s live reporting).

All of this, again, just in October. As far as what seeped through organically, I’d have to say almost none of it. Probably just Alexa Chung, which is why she’s still earning her ostensibly hefty fee for this kind of thing, decades post-Cobrasnake.

Why now? Why drop an un-graspable volume of product designed to attract news coverage and eyeballs when those resources are trained on the Chanel runway? But this is the game for mass fashion brands, whose approach to product is like an influencer chasing a mercurial algorithm, where the flops don’t matter, only the hits do. A bit queasy of an idea when the spray of target-missing material is actual physical stuff we need to deal with. Something to chew on.

• In contrast with everything that announced itself over fashion month, Tigra Tigra (which exists semi-outside of “the calendar”) recently uploaded without much fanfare some of the most beautiful and wantable pieces I encountered all season. The brand, from designer Bailey Hunter, has been around for almost 15 years now, doing amazing things with traditional regional textiles and hand-embellishments through NGOs and artisan co-ops. It’s not the first time I’ve written about Tigra Tigra (Bailey has even contributed), but just seeing its latest arrivals, I’m struck by how much every other brand is now catching up to it. This glass-beaded shoulder-pad dress could have come from Valentino or Celine. A brocade jacket and skirt ensemble that looks like the most updated self-image of The Row. This little jacket…Dries. That it’s none of those things makes it better, more humble, more of a choice you make than something handed to you.

• The Tory Burch fall runway collection is mostly live, including the cords that everyone stopped to gawk at. It’s a bit exasperating that the woven belt I also found great and purchase-worthy is $450, but as a consolation, the bigger fish pin is $180. I’ll be the first in line when these velvety, pearly pumps click over from ‘Coming Soon.’

• The headline from the latest Phoebe Philo drop is the arrival of the Splay Clutch, a leather folio-style envelope with a slim wraparound leather tie. I’ve been spending a lot of time carrying my Hunting Season folio clutch and foresee the rise of bookish bags like these (also: messenger bags and backpacks). The other thing to pull out of the Phoebe arrivals is, doesn’t this silk scarf top look a lot like this Aflalo one released a few weeks back? (A little over half the price.)

• The first fluffy coats pf the season are arriving—Charlotte Simone’s first winter drop is already mostly sold out (I acted early and got this curly-trim cropped style); but Carelli’s Upper East Side collection, similarly fur-cuffed and collared, opened up for pre-order. The updated Jackie in Bambi will do numbers.

• Good tabs to open from Cristaseya’s just-unlocked temporary online shop (this is how it releases collections): an entry-level-priced velvet fringed scarf in deep ocean blue; a diagonal-stripe chunky knit in well-chosen field shades; and a stone-colored trench with a reverse leather collar. Also…those white riding boots I’ve been flirting with for seasons are back. Is this the moment I finally buy?

• Alex Mill embodies every season somehow, but perhaps fall most of all, proof of which can be found in a few key releases. The newly arrived Sophia coat is the most remarkable of the lot, a double-face wool with double breasted buttons that’s been hand-finished by artisans who hand-stitch every seam, at the remarkable price of $375. The speckled wool-and-alpaca yarn Donegal sweater from the men’s section is worth consideration, as is the velvet Prince flat, which I foresee a lot of tip-tapping around Nolita this season.

• La Collection is still underrated for what it is, deserving of its Rohé comeuppance and on-sight recognition (maybe open a store in NYC? I would shop there…). The Antwerp-based brand released its FW26 collection, titled Maniera, and became the preëminent smart, worldly, romantic source in doing so: Deco meets tailoring meets great un-tailoring. This coat! Whoa. Also—sheer embroidered trousers under a slit skirt…great styling concept; speaks the the strengths of the brand as a whole.

• Lots to discuss on the handbag front: Nour Hammour’s Amal bag now comes in a slouchy, shiny ponyhair iteration, in either black or burgundy. For the art lovers, Eittem created a selection of bags inspired by the Frick Collection—particularly the mantlepiece carvings in the Walnut Room. Net-A-Porter has an exclusive Bottega Veneta Baby Madison bag in a caramel suede intrecciato that’s ideal for fall; Mulberry introduces the Delilah family of bags, a relaxed flap style with a removable strap and lock closure that comes in three sizes; Liffner High Season is here, and it’s chock-full of jewel tones, metallics, and lustrous fabrics like satin and calf hair; Absolutely Fabrics has restocked its sold-out LA MAMA bag, an oversized carryall for every day; and St. Agni’s textural woven tote collection is another option for daily wear.

• Now, for some shoe news: Jamie Haller’s Penny Loafer has a new ponyhair iteration for fall, in a deep wine shade (good news for anyone all-in on purple this season); Jimmy Choo celebrates 30 years with a Pearls of Wisdom capsule collection that’s heavy on—you guessed it—pearl detailing, from subtle accents to all-over embellished platforms and evening bags; Le Monde Beryl enters boot season, including a knee-high kitten-heel Babouche boot in croc-effect brown leather; and Repetto comes full-circle on high-vamp ballet flats for women—though the style of the moment is often credited to Phoebe Philo, the French brand introduced it years ago, though only for men.

• Finally, for the fragrance heads: The luxury collection of scents from Contrapposto, the beauty house founded by Nick and Casey Axelrod-Welk, is now available at Violet Grey; Tibi teams up with Abel for its first-ever eau de parfum—a peppery, green wood with 18 natural ingredients that is aptly described as “chill, modern, and classic”; and BODHA, the brand that’s become known for its smokeless incense, is entering the perfume game with a collection of three debut scents, complete with cool, well-designed bottles.

• There’s also: a Conner Ives SS27 trunk show is live on Moda Operandi, on the heels of his superb New York Fashion Week debut at The Grill; a new cotton flannel offering, The Winchester, from perennial shirting favorite Comme Si to elevate fall layering; VADA and H-O-R-S-E teamed up on a sporty necklace featuring a sterling silver coach’s whistle and eyeglass holder, together on a nostalgic ball chain; Brynn Wallner of designed an adorable limited-edition baby tee in collaboration with her favorite t-shirt brand, China Girl; Fruity Booty’s fall offering is inspired by dance studio staples, from ballet pink track trousers to a delicate detached layer top; the second drop of 6397’s AW26 collection is now available via e-comm, featuring an array of violet shades; the AW26 offering from Dima Ladina is also online at L’Ensemble, top-tier scouter of convincing, new-to-us brands; Tricot x LIÉ STUDIO joined forces for a limited fall capsule with a tight trio of pieces—a knit polo, a skirt, and a belt; and the Moda Operandi ski shop is open, should you have a jaunt to Aspen on your winter agenda.

Men’s releases

• Spanish shirting brand Camisas Manolo partnered with Japanese designer Soshi Otsuki on a range of that embodies “boom boom.” Otsuki, a 2026 LVMH Prize finalist, finds inspiration in the Armani suits businessmen wore to work in his native Tokyo, which comes through in this range of shirts, complete with silk polka-dot ties that can be flipped to peek out from the inside.

• Parisian menswear boutique Beige Habilleur hosted the first "made to order" event for Rier, the brand founded by Andreas Steiner, deepening its commitment to avoiding overproduction, as well as supporting small factories and family-run businesses. Everything from coats to trousers to fleeces are made to order and delivered within 4-6 weeks.

• Our Legacy is keeping it simple for its FW2026 collection theme: “Just Clothes.” Sure, but they’re very good clothes—a casual, collared leather shirtjacket, a wool herringbone car coat, a flannel-like check-pattern shirt, and some low-rise marled trousers are worthy of heavy rotation status this season and beyond.

• There’s also: a duo of clouty collaborations is now shoppable—writer Jake Woolf partnered with Mark the Tailor on one key piece, a sport-luxe merino fleece jacket that’s available in black and navy; and music video director-slash-tastemaker Cole Bennett created a white, wooly pair of cozy-cool Birkenstock Bostons that appear to be Yeti-inspired.

Home releases

• Our very own interiors columnist unveiled his latest collection of wallpapers for Backdrop, entitled ALTER EGO. The three new styles—THE PENTHOUSE, THE BUREAU, and ILLUSION DE BOIS—translate architectural materials into wallpaper, evoking the texture and mood of Brutalist brushed steel, olive lacquered tile, and walnut-hued wood grain, respectively.

• Erstwhile Tory Burch textile designer Spencer Malinski has a new collection of five made-to-order ottomans for Love House, all rich in color, pattern, and texture. Made in Italian textile mills and using Samuel & Sons fringe, both velvet and jacquard options are available in a tight edit of shapes and patterns—we’re especially fond of the maximalist floral velvet and Art Deco fan print—priced starting at $5,700.

• There’s also: Giancarlo Valle and Jane Keltner de Valle, the married couple behind Studio Valle de Valle, unveil a new exhibition and Rizzoli book to mark the 10-year anniversary of their interior design practice; Tekla’s new checked bedding collection is the linens version of switching over your closet for fall; design studio Apparatus unveils its first full collection in five years, “Act V: Afsaneh,” which consists of lighting and furniture inspired by mythology; industry-beloved illustrator Angelica Hicks designed a collection of holiday cards for Paperless Post; Brooklyn-based designer Eny Lee Parker releases her second lighting collection with Lulu & Georgia, complete with a charming cherry-shaped table lamp.

Hi everyone! Laura Reilly here. Thank you all for joining me tonight for this after-hours roundtable to discuss what the rich and famous are doing to look like *that*. With us in the chat we have , , and . I know I’ve said this already to each of you individually, but I seriously couldn’t dream up a better group of people to have this conversation with!

Let’s just jump right in. Can everyone introduce themselves and share what makes them qualified to speak to the aesthetic and longevity pursuits of the rich and famous? (Or why you think I asked you to participate?)

Love that. I’m Carson Griffith, I’ve been a New York-based journalist for 17 years (does that age me or what) for every publication you can think of, from The New York Times to the New Yorker, and earlier this year I started a newsletter called —or RPS as we all like to call it—inspired by the topics that I’ve been writing in said publications. Those can be everything from peptides to plastic surgery, fashion to finance. And I love to talk about them, too.

Sure thing! I’m Dr. Amanda Kahn. I’m a board-certified internist and I run a private advanced primary care and longevity practice on Park Ave. A lot of my patients are people with significant resources, very demanding careers, and access to essentially anything they want in health and aesthetics. My job is often actually the opposite of giving them more…it’s figuring out what is evidence-based, what is promising, what is marketing, and what they absolutely do not need.

I also think I have an interesting vantage point because I’m both a physician in this world and personally very interested in longevity, aesthetics, fitness and optimization. So I understand why people want to experiment, but I also know where the guardrails need to be. I was also born and raised in Manhattan. I’ve known Carson for 15 years (gasp!) and Derek, we have met briefly in the past but have loads of friends in common :)

Howdy, everyone! Derek Blasberg here. I’m a New York-based writer and editor. I flew back from Paris to New York today, so I’ll be nice and delirious for this chat. And I’m a few minutes late because my five-year-old twins are not being cooperative about their bedtime!

I have to confess that I don’t have a lot of first-person experience with this topic. I was born and raised in America’s Midwest on a steak-and-potatoes diet. I didn’t even know what kale or sushi was until I moved to New York! I also have zero brand loyalty when it comes to beauty products—the vast majority of the lotions and potions in my bathroom came from swag bags and influencer mailers.

That said, I’m an avid spectator of pretty people, so happy to share what (and who) I’ve seen working (and not working). I’ll also be taking notes

2p Polo Ralph Lauren presentation — a quasi-runway, quasi-presentation staged in an airy, appropriately barn-like venue in the 7th arrondissement. I’ve said this about past Polo previews, but it holds true that the styling of the collections is among the best seen all week, and it really brings the brand’s timeless pieces into the most immediate present.

Ahead of the collection unveil last week, I was able to talk to Karen Brown Brody, Senior Creative Director of Women’s Polo and RLX, about her and Ralph Lauren’s vision for the season. It all started with American summer: “When I’m packing for a trip, I want to make 15 outfits out of a few key pieces. Our dresses and separates are designed to be that versatile.”

That approach was immediately obvious to me when digesting the latest assortment, which was blended with carry-over products, many of which I recognized from my own closet—my Western, silver-adorned belt, my Polo ID bag—imagined in fresh combinations. Their iteration feels limitless. As Karen explains: “We have our muses that continue to inspire us. There is a lot old Ralph Lauren imagery, it’s such a rich archive with 60 years of history.” More styling notes down below.

8p Polo Ralph Lauren cocktail at Ralph’s Paris — attendees reconvened later in the day at the iconic Ralph’s restaurant to toast the brand’s newly launched Polo Blaze Bag. I changed into a second look. People were raving about the fried olives. Arca DJ’ed! Good party. While the daytime show offered styling inspiration on models, the evening brought a whole new wave of ideas as seen on guests who showed up in their own imaginings of Ralph. I particularly loved a letterman jacket worn by Monica Ainley and Lou Doillon’s suede pants; the bag of the night was unquestionably the Blaze.

Buckle focal-pointing

The belt is holding down fashion at large more than ever before, with plaque styles swelling and taking over torsos; they feel fun and swaggery, and they have the ability to anchor a look in a definitive way. At Polo, we saw them over tunics, cinching paper-bag shorts, and layered over scarves.

Scarf sub-layering

Love the incongruity of an opera-ready silk scarf worn with a windbreaker; it’s so disarming. The trick to make such opposite poles agree with one another is tucking the silky layer beneath a jacket so that the fringed ends peek out, plus loading on other complex accessories (beaded collars! brooches!) and telling an interesting color story.

Indian madras a million ways

I left the presentation with a newfound appreciation for madras, just how much good chaos a braided strip of the plaid can add to an otherwise classic wardrobe. I love the idea of layering different checks, as with a tie against a shirt collar or a printed bag over a coat, or just packing a bunch of different plaids into a single patchwork piece.

Crunchy baubles

With a long stretch of minimalism finally being filed away, the appetite for texture and dimension is palpable. Embellishment (like on those windbreaker collars) and loud, crafty accessories can wake up a whole look, or take an already-vibrant one to another tier. Polo’s presentation had them in spades: chunky beaded pins, abacus belts, accoutrements for eyewear, and a curation of handcrafted jewelry created by Piki Wadsworth, a second-generation Diné and Hopi jewelry artist, using shells, turquoise and lapis.. It’s good exercise for our eyeballs to bounce around and take them all in.

2p Jude preview — gotta say, they’re beating out all the other new-gen shoe brands as far as desirable silhouettes and luxury fast-tracking goes; good celeb placements, admirable retailers (they’re at DSM), the prices are still reasonable but if they inched up I’d still pay them.

4p Ormaie showroom visit — I always learn so much about making fragrance from my friend, founder Baptiste Bouygues, when I go in for a visit, this time about the vast range of musks both natural and synthetic. The brand launched three new scents that go back to the core of what they do, even paring back their signature architectural bottle to its essential octagonal shape. The new Musc Mirroir employs many new-to-me musks and evolves longest over the day.

6p Husbands visit — I am getting a pair of made-to-measure pants, for which I picked out the cut (a flat-front straight leg) and fabric (a black herringbone medium-weight wool). I was in and out in 25 minutes because I like an efficient buying session, but you could really savor the personalized experience if you wanted. I’ll have my pants in about two months shipped to me in NYC. About $800 all in.

12p Jil Sander store visit — went in hoping to find this one totally thought-interrupting off-shoulder dress I had just seen land on Net-A-Porter, and I did! It has a sculptable wool neckline that you can fold down around the shoulders and a pinched fabric back. Unfortunately for me, it fit absolutely perfectly while also being €4,000. Still, so much else in store that was imminently buyable. I got a simple-but-exactly-right fitted v-neck silk-blend knit that I tried on with a super sexy-super split-side skirt, which I knew at the time if I walked away from it, I’d regret it immensely. Here I am, regretting. Also tried: a jacquard floral shirt and the Oliver Peoples Edition 9 sunglasses from the collab. It would have been very easy and fun to spend $10–15k at Simone Belloti’s Jil Sander in an afternoon.

1p Prada store visit — obligatory stop any time I am in the Detax zone, and I did well! Some killer dresses and skirts in a faux torn and worn-down style they call devoré, but I saw a trench coat right away I needed to assess; lightweight, unlined cotton gabardine with a weathered leather collar and NO VENT, yay (decidedly necessary trench characteristic for me, I’ve realized). Bonus astrakhan cropped pea coat that doesn’t seem to be online just yet (here’s a curly shearling in its place).

2p Celine store visit — it was Michael Ryder ‘80s minimalism this, Michael Rider zany prep that all week, but when I went in to see the current collection, I was drawn to something very un-that-language: this crocheted floor-length dress. Somewhere in the $4k range. Was fun to see the breadth coming out of there right now, and to sashay around the top floor of the Montaigne flagship in this flippy number that bounced around my ankles and wrapped me like a Chinese finger trap. Also, I definitely get the appeal of these box clutches, and seeing the jewelry reminded me that things really do look like this now.

3p Chanel store visit — I got in pretty quickly without an appointment, and found the staff to be accommodating and polite (despite lots of shopper distress I’m hearing out of there). But then again I am not the Chanel customer, so I spared them and me the drama of trying to buy a bag that was there “for display purposes only” or whatever. The Polish SA who came over for seasonal support brought me an insane beaded skirt with a Hawaiian-print lining that struck me as Society Archive-coded. I liked the Ariel mermaid heels and the drop waist dresses, a version of which is already on TRR somehow. The viscose knits were glorious, if you have the kind of money to buy a few and layer them—Chanel only really looks good with Chanel.

4p Dover Street Market — I crossed the city specifically to see Townwear at DSM, which I was put onto by . I found it and put this great attached-layer knit on hold at checkout downstairs while I took a spin around the upper floor. Upstairs, I accidentally bought a Prada nylon skirt and tank set I’d had my eye on online but didn’t see at the Prada flagship earlier. It’s great—deceptively simple in design but cut to crunch, drape, and jut out from your body in such a way. Amid the spontaneity of shopping Prada twice in one day, I left without grabbing the Townwear sweater. My biggest retail regret of the day!

8:30p Simkhai dinner at Red Katz — a pretty sceny dinner with at least two White Lotus cast members and everyone wearing Simkhai, which just opened a pop-up shop at Galeries Lafayette. It’s one of those right-priced brands that’s fun and sexy to wear, plus has an accessory signature (whimsical gold clutches) to remember it by.

Jacques Marie Mage works with a gem miner in the American West who opened up an entire turquoise mine especially for one collection from the brand, and 2. Thom Browne designed his entire latest collection because he watched A Bug’s Life on a plane. Cathedrals everywhere…

• When I ran into Ava Van Osdol on my way out of the Jude showroom and asked where I should shop, she and I had essentially the same list: Husbands, Rubirosa’s, the Montaigne flagships, the evergreen recs of Dries and Lemaire. She added: the new Rick Owens store in Palais Royale, plus Sabbia Rosa lingerie and the likewise lingerie-minded Kanelle Vintage.

11a Dries Van Noten re-see — a major highlight; I met up with Net-A-Porter’s Lydia Zacharis there who says she’s now seen the collection three times (show, showroom, re-see) and gets something new from it each time. I spotted themes like those already being celebrated as the best new / lasting ideas elsewhere across the season / retail (Dario’s poster prints at Versace, layered sheer skirts at Prada, Miu Miu-ish boat shoe laces, Bode-ish fly-ish embellishment, NY’s surfer wave), but it all felt authentically and not derivatively Julian Klausner.

12p Tom Ford re-see — Haider cuts a mean men’s shoe and I hope the croc smoking slipper with the lingerie-scale bow comes in ladies sizes. Elsewhere, I was fixated on the skinny briefcases and outsize top handle bags in what my mind assigned “vacuum cleaner leather”; a thick, pebbled elephant-gray that conjured up a forgotten slice of the 1980s, proving there’s still more to squeeze out of Boom Boom.

1p Thom Browne re-see — amid all the theatrics of the show in NY, you’d be forgiven for having missed some of the finer points of the TB collection, including grasshopper-embroidered gingham. Also, a clue: The maillot-imprinted dress that went down the runway, on Adrianna Lima no less, was foreshadowing the launch of the first women’s swimwear from the brand, which will itself be trompe l’oeil driven.

3:30p Cecilie Bahnsen show — included some very clever inside-outside bra styling that made me think about the exposed bralette as the next boxers-above-the-waistband thing. I left with a new urgency to get these organza, embellished Bermudas.

4:30p LESSE facial at Le Bon Marche — LESSE is a very French skincare brand, at heart, I realized when getting the lymphatic facial of a lifetime; it’s ultra-natural, beautifully designed and formulated, and fits into a greater lifestyle of health and beauty.

Since bags are more expensive than ever, why not spend $2,870 on a violet talosel link bracelet instead?

• Some other The Row shopping goss to get out of the way: Our girl was at the store checking out a small Terrasse Bag when in walks David Beckham and…basically tells her to buy it; and I have to report that the Paris store is also selling €490 leather-wrapped carabiners that are admittedly tempting.

• Red lipstick queen Emily Bonita’s signature shade is actually two products stacked—MAC Lady Danger and Chanel Rouge Allure Indépendante.

• Spotted a few dozen Foscarini Caboche pendants outfitting the Thom Browne building, very much costume jewelry for hallways.

• And yet more beauty news: Lara Worthington’s new (very cool-looking) brand Ommage launched this week at Dover Street Market’s Parfums store here in Paris. I’m not a huge makeup person, nor do I really fuss with tools when I could just as easily use my fingers to apply, but I sense this Buffer Brush from the line is about to be something of a status object.

5p Re{form} Zara Vol. 1, Concept by Couturier John Galliano installation — I was first through the door to see the installation erected in an out-of-use historic hotel to launch the long-awaited John Galliano-Zara link up, which is LIVE as of right this moment. It is 100% expected to sell out, according to the PR, with the grab-an-gos like the bags sure to run out first. I’ve been joking lately that “everything is Backrooms” because I watched it on the plane, but this two-day pop-up really is the Backrooms of Galliano’s brain. You can see the thought process by which he arrived to his way into Zara—like, how to get to a point where something so anathema in many ways to his philosophy could eventually be something great—which begins with him taking pieces and breaking them down into rough, raw pieces to salvage. Those remakings of old Zara stock were then repeated in new fabrics and multiplied in Zara’s factories. • Here’s the rundown on the Zara-Galliano collection, having seen it all in person: the reference pages were post-Revolutionary France, the execution Vaudeville, ideas expressed at Dior and his eponymous label and re-upped with a mix of earnestness and cheek. Priced as low as $59 for gloves and scarves to $999 for gowns upon gowns upon gowns, some of which have already sold out. The in between counts chic, wearable wool coats and trophy pieces like the Napoleonic jacket with tails; the spliced ragdoll skirts caught my appeal most—this was my fave; a $79 leather belt with a subtle leather tag detail opposite side the strap on the buckle that I appreciated; a moment for the 5-inch platform heels; and if I had to point to one item that exemplifies the collection, it’s this nobbly wool flower hat that’s very “Central Park pigeon lady” but fashion.

• Amid a sudden rain shower yesterday, Mohawk General Store’s Bo Carney tipped me off to a line of Dries Van Noten silk scarves that are only available at the Dries beauty counter / via Dries Beauty retailers. They’re inspired by the brand’s fragrances and have names like “Santal” and “Cannabis Patchouli,” and they run about half as much as main-line ones.

• In other beauty news, Atlas Atelier, Michele Duncan’s art deco make-up project that I covered last fashion week, has officially launched on Violet Grey with three core products: a lip, an eyeliner, and a blush.

• Kassandre Paris hosted a dinner two nights ago to promote its leather bags, one of which I spotted on a woman at the salon. It’s the biggest bag I’ve ever seen, hard not to notice, but it looked great. Upon further investigation, I’m kind of into some of the other shapes—see the Eileen and the Tetra—and the prices are very tolerable.

• One more piece of David Mallett gossip: Apparently the salon’s former manager decamped to open up a hotel in Porto named Casa Cedo, which I heard from Live the Process’ Robyn Berkley is remarkable. It certainly looks it, and if the David Mallet hospitality ethos is any indication, the vibes are good, too.

• Khaite’s trunkshow for SS27 just launched on Moda Operandi, putting some dollars-and-cents behind the runway we just saw at NYFW: the bra tops are nearly $1,200, and fully embroidered dresses like the Domina are $48k. Khaite continues to toe the line between luxury and Pavlovian frivolity, and while brilliant, this very inflation-respondent trunkshow plants a foot in the latter area.

• Big things are happening over at La Garçonne. First, the multibrand retailer announces its first in-house line, _Bare, a discerning, precise collection of tailored separates like the wide-legged wool flannel pants and merino wool bomber cardigan. To round it all out, La Garçonne also announces a collaboration with Scottish knitwear brand Begg, a suite of responsible cashmere (as in made from upcycled materials) sweaters, like the anthracite-flecked crewneck Helen.

• Australian brand Acci launches their first womenswear collection, a meeting point between “heritage and contemporary,” to quote founder Lauren Acciarito’s brand blurb. Inspired by her Italian heritage and contemporary relationship to clothing via her travels abroad in London and the Western-Euro-elsewhere, this collection rather excellently remains modern while touching on some of the scarier nostalgic trends, like shoulder pads in the Siena dress and asymmetrical handkerchief-hem skirts like the Zia.

• Danish jewelry brand Trine Tuxen and PR dame-slash-perennial kind soul Pirrie Wright announce ‘Prarure,’ a limited capsule of home objects and jewelry. Much of the collection is based on a layered square shape, like the Art Deco-nostalgic Coupole stud. There’s also a cabochon mirror and a lighter case.

• Made-to-order maestro Shereen Mohammad comes to us on this humble fall day bearing menthe-green gifts. From her NYC quarters, she gives us the Bebe and Roya—sleek Princess Diana-type boatneck silk gowns in the palest of mint shades, as well as the Maryam, a grass-green-trimmed kaftan inspired by Moroccan silhouettes.

• There’s also: The return of the Fruity Booty pink jugs tee in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month; a highly structured (and subtly accessorized) Lisa Yang AW26 collection; the arrival of some truly fabulous goat leather pieces from Arma (like the Jean pants) at MyTheresa; the second drop from &Daughter AW26, including some wonderful jewel toned iterations of the Innes sweater; and the latest day diamonds collection from Jessica McCormack, all about bows.

Men’s releases

• The Giuliva Heritage FW26 collection is a veritable feast of men’s outerwear, the kind of stuff that’s worthy of cigar smoking and heavy scotch drinking. Even the trousers (naturally, the smoking pair in wool blend twill) stand out against the coat-blazer backdrops provided by such pieces as the double breasted Alexander coat and Stefano blazer in deep navy wool.

• Double RL is perhaps the most exciting Ralph Lauren subdivision, and FW26 is no exception. Nearly everything feels boyfriend-appropriate, in the sense that you gift it and then repeatedly borrow from his closet—the sheepskin overshirt and cable wool-blend sweater, especially.

• Some new FW26 drops from Bottega Veneta menswear just hit Mr. Porter, and much of it is PE-bro bait. This season, we’ve gone from quarter zip to half-zip…interesting. Styled with straight leg jeans and Intrecciato loafers, one can’t help but postulate that fashion is getting more tech-y rather than the other way around.

Home releases

• Baisi Guadagnino’s collection for Zara Home is the teak-y amalgam of ’80s postmodern Italian lacquer (the Quibit stool) and quirkier Scandi-MCM (the Sacred Spring table…which is also close to $15k). Jury’s out on how many people with that kind of disposable income are going to go to Zara for their furniture, but collaborating with the designer on these home furnishings is definitely…a choice.

• Jenni Kayne Home joins forces with Tyler Thomas and Mike Moser on a timeless-luxury collection of lived-in feeling interior pieces, including throws and a buttercream-like custom color of the beloved Bristol rug.

• Meet the Loquat pendant lamp by Of Enso, now available at Claude Home. The piece is a yellow, handpainted silk cube lamp with a hand-patinated ceiling plate, so each unit is unique. This is the kind of lamp you use for decoration in addition to effusing light.

• There’s also: A Casa Paulista, a new publication by Bossa all about the opening of the firm’s new gallery in Sao Paolo, now available for pre-order; and Away’s release of Series 3, a hardware update of the brand’s previous line of luggage.

In a way, Q4 of Brand Rank is the Reader’s Choice edition, due to the inclusion of our fall shopping survey data. The products you submitted as bought, wishlisted, or still-being-worn—which you can still see in full through the “spreadsheet” viewer we built—bolstered the scores of their respective brands. For the brand that tops the list this quarter, the impact of those contributions was massive. More on that below.

The fall shopping viewer itself was the most-clicked link of the entire quarter, but on the product end, a past-season Dries dress I wore to a wedding this summer was the leader in both clicks and orders by a lot. It’s no longer available on The RealReal (because…I bought it); I haven’t found it elsewhere, though believe me I’ve looked, and no, I won’t sell it, though I understand where those of you who’ve emailed me to ask are coming from. Here’s a recent-season alt that’s spiritually related.

Another top click performer was for Simple Rainbow, the women’s shoe pop-up I covered during Paris Men’s Week in June (people called it Repetto but cheaper); plus the If Only If nightgown I linked out, which told me later she had pulled for Girls.

This Knoll desk chair was the top-clicked home product. These Lineage protein bars were the most-ordered High Touch item. The Aaron Levine x Zara collection was the top performing men’s link. Toteme’s was the most-shopped sale.

1. The Row

The Row’s score this season literally broke the graphics tool we use for Brand Rank, which was previously unable to accommodate a score of 99—last season, The Row held a score of 30, and even the first place-holder, Toteme, topped out at 37. It’s the highest score Brand Rank has ever seen, beating out 87.71, for COS at #1 in the May 2024 edition.

The Caden loafers (an in-house favorite, too) were among the top-cited products in the chat data, with the Eel loafers and “loafers” generally including the Mario and Lucca moccs also high up. Liisa shoes are the next most-ID’ed footwear. Pants are hugely in demand: the Galas and jeans, overall, plus Thildes, Selvies, and taffeta pants. There was no single standout bag style, interestingly, with the Astra, Peggy, Park, Parker, Dalia, and Marlo, among others, each earning mentions.

The order data showed clearer intent; the canvas Marlo 17 (here’s the updated version) drove the most transactions, and an on-sale dress at Moda came second. Most clicks goes to these cotton, cashmere, and silk balloon pants.

2. Dries Van Noten

Dries has been on an astronomical rise over the last few months. Brands seemed to remake themselves in its image as our cream and minimalist fatigue rediscovered texture, pattern, adornment. But Julian Klausner’s custodianship of Van Noten’s legacy was already there. It was the most-ordered brand largely on the back of this past-season, sold-out-everywhere dress (try this one instead?), but its new collection—the all-black snakeskin sneakers and the quilted puffer scarf from my wishlist—drew in a lot of clicks, too.

3. Jamie Haller

The eponymous LA-based designer makes it on this list with a total score that shows translated engagement-to-purchases growth. This is proof that their prominent email strategy (called 1st Dibs, naturally) works with turnover. Over the past three months there have been a lot of new drops via this communication style—like the grandpa-swag edit inspired by JH’s late grandfather Julius and the high vamp ballet flat—that sell out in the blink of an eye. Jamie holds the title of most-clicked brand overall this season.

4. Toteme

Toteme has become shorthand for good taste and is a consistent topic of discussion (as well as a frequent recommendation) in the Magasin chat. The brand launched its first men’s collection in August, so now the guys can get in on the minimal-luxe goods, too. Aside from classic items like leather jackets, shirting, and knits, heritage pieces from the womenswear line—the robe coat and scarf peacoat in particular—are well suited for menswear proportions.

5. Tory Burch

Tory Burch is holding steady among the top-tier American fashion brands, and consistently gives us plenty of novelty to discuss in our bi-weekly sends. It mixes classic (if not conservative) brand codes with funkier, on-trend pieces to appeal to a wide spectrum of customers across generations. In regards to the latter, her runway shows—the most recent of which just walked a few weeks ago—double as entertainment, with a wide array of TikTok commentators on hand to spread the Tory gospel to the next generation.

6. J.Crew

J.Crew is relentless when it comes to megasized marketing blitzes around new riffs on nostalgic items, and it seems to be working in their favor. This August saw the release of the Tiny Rollneck sweater, complete with a campaign starring Gen Z phenom Emma Chamberlain, which was met with mixed reviews. More recently, they collaborated with another brand on this list, Eckhaus Latta, on a killer back-to-school collection, and rolled out a campaign for The Barn Jacket featuring 160 (!) people of influence. That’s one way to command the attention economy.

7. Prada

Past Prada appearances on Brand Rank have skewed heavily resale. This quarter, The RealReal activity and direct selling via the chat both contribute to the brand’s score, but its new-in has grown into a big factor, too; these organza Bermudas were, naturally, of interest, and we are all paying attention to the antiqued leather pumps with hiking laces. After the latest runway, everybody is on skirt watch.

8. Gap

Gap is still going strong as the standout amid the mall brand renaissance. It’s taking great effort to access the cultural zeitgeist, building momentum with the Hailey Bieber 1996 jeans collaboration that swiftly sold out in July. In the time since, Gap has debuted handbags designed by Reed Krakoff, dropped collabs with both Malbon Golf and A.P.C., reissued its ‘90s hit line of perfume, and had another viral musical campaign, starring Malcom Todd and Inde Navarette (plus a controversial cover of Robyn’s “Dancing on my Own”).

9. COS

There’s been a lot of conversation in the chat about the brand’s basics (like the merino wool half-zip) being perfect travel-wear, as well as talk about how the COS pima cotton serves as a more affordable alternative to higher priced shirting from, say, a Comme Si. Overall, the brand is revealing itself to be even more of a go-to than it has been in the past.

10. Khaite

Khaite has gone from a brand that we consume through actual purchases, to a brand we consume through engagement; the chat and posts scores are the same, with most of the chat mentions coming from people lusting after investment pieces like the Sybil boot. This past Khaite show highlighted the brand’s pivot to what looked like a kookier, more maximal artisanship than the kind of minimal fare we’ve come to identify them by, and this quarter’s lower score suggests that perhaps the brand is trying out a new creative strategy to convert conversation into sales. Cue the access conversation from this past NYFW.

The change in the air can only mean one thing: Brand Rank. Every quarter, we dig into the data to crown winners out of the hundreds of brands that fill our emails to you. What makes this season’s tally a little different is that it includes all of the brands and products you submitted to the Fall Shopping Spreadsheet earlier this month. Naturally, these submissions to our survey on what everyone is buying for fall should have some impact on what we’re counting as “the most shoppable brands.”

It’s always a pleasure to welcome new brands to the tally, and today we have a couple of long overdue names: Emily Dawn Long and Eckhaus Latta. Congrats on making things we really, really want to buy. Plus! At the end, a bonus list of the brands that didn’t quite crack 20, but still help tell the story of what desire means to shoppers now.

11. Kallmeyer

At no. 11, this will be the highest the 14-year-old New York native and frequenter of these pages has ever Brand Rank’ed, something foreshadowed in my very unofficial musings on the brands that defined summer 2026 (which it certainly did).

Kallmeyer skipped the inch-up from the bottom and secured the 11th place spot on the strength of the 360-degree story it told, from Daniella Kallmeyer’s wedding, at which the defining cummerbund trend of the season was front and center on her bride Allison; to the fall collection that introduced the brand’s first leather handbag, the old-Prada-inspired Magazine; to its collaboration with the giant that is Nike on a suede tennis shoe; to an upscaling NYFW show that introduced the deeply collectible “How to Wrap Five Eggs” beaded cage bag.

Members of the Magasin Chat even clocked a pair of opera flats in the R27 lookbook that inspired a hunt for a match; my inside intel is that they are by…Kallmeyer. Something for us all to look forward to.

12. Chanel

A brand with little digital shoppability like Chanel winds up on a list like this through brute force of cultural impact. It manifests in the ease with which audiences reach for it as a reference point in conversation (“these Maui Jims look just like my Chanel sunglasses”), the parallels found in our coverage of other brands (“the Jeffrey Campbell shoeless A-pieds, a confounding knockoff in the manner of the Chanel shoeless trend”), and, this season in particular, elaborate monuments to it like the plywood Chanel store created by Tom Sachs, which engulfed his studio this NYFW.

Where shopping was involved, the vintage Cerf bag (the most Blazy of archive styles) emerged as a top-seller from platforms like The RealReal and Sourcewhere, alongside an uptick in flats and slingback fever. All this, and on top, many pilgrimages to its boutiques across the world to score a last pair of Blazy toe-caps in one’s size.

13. Alex Mill

A true mainstay brand within the Magasin matrix. We talk about the brand more than you tend to mention it, but the high clicks score and order score shows that more often than not, engagement leads to an order. It’s true; there’s truly something for everyone over at AM in a unisexy fashion, from their waxed-cotton jackets to collab pieces like this J.Press rugby shirt.

14. Ralph Lauren

I don’t think I’m overstating it when I say Ralph Lauren won the season on the merit of one pair of sunglasses. Despite being almost perpetually sold out on the brand’s site, the Polo Sport frames, which I’ve been wearing almost daily since the beginning of summer, were everywhere this fashion week in every color combination. The black were the most popular, available now across various discount optical sites, though the tortoiseshell version (I inadvertently convinced Chris Black to order them this week) remains online.

Not insignificant were the brand’s off-calendar show, which pulled a lot of weight in enforcing New York’s disappearing claim to capital-F Fashion, and its US Open collection and greater ties, a reminder of its standing as a cultural institution.

15. Tibi

Tibi snuck up there this quarter, with conversation surrounding the brand mainly from a basics-buyer POV. Shared “have you tried it?” moments (mainly about the comfort of its heels) establish Tibi as a forever-in-our-hearts brand, though not a lot of chatter about the ready to wear. For those who have tried, will you buy? Next quarter will tell…

16. Emily Dawn Long

Another first-timer to the ranking, if you can believe it. We’ve counted her accolades before when mulling the brands of the summer: a CFDA candidate, prolific party thrower, a formidable fall collection under her belt, and a vintage tee pop-ups-and-drops operation that’s attracted many a GQ cover-star type. To that list, lets add the official NYFW calendar and a film producer credit. Her latest collection has put crack back on the map in the form of keyhole-yoke jeans and lunar plexus-pinching pencil skirts, worn by Meadow Walker, Terrence O’Connor, et al. The “crack collection” is available for pre-order as of this week.

17. Phoebe Philo

Perhaps by design, we’re not buying Phoebe Philo, but we sure do lust after it. For this quarter, we’re looking at wishlist items like the black straight jeans and gathered ballet flats from the Fall Shopping Spreadsheet, two items that clearly define the brand as the pinnacle “oh, this little thing?” supplier for women of means. Phoebe’s whole point is that she’s just out of reach, and that tension cultivates into, well, a cult following of people who would buy $650 rubber flip flops to engage with her design world (because, I mean, so few of us are buying the $14k coats).

18. Zara

Zara has pulled out a lot of stops to step away from its “fast fashion” reputation, in large part through an impressive lineup of collaborators with industry cred. We are days away (!) from the highly anticipated debut of John Galliano’s creative partnership, and its continued work with menswear sage Aaron Levine is well done (though we can’t say the same about their recent line of graphic tees with “if you know you know” bookstore 0fr.Paris). Zara Home has become a serious player in the interiors game, too, by partnering with filmmaker Luca Guadagnino and architect Stefano Baisi, antique textiles expert Katharine Pole, and botanical designer Mary Lennox on recent collections.

19. Eckhaus Latta

In the 15 years since it was founded, Eckhaus Latta has evolved from indie darling to a powerhouse New York brand—and one of the biggest draws of NYFW. The duo partnered with Mango on a smash hit (and sold out) collection this spring, but this season’s big story was its J.Crew collaboration, which debuted on the runway in September, and was followed by a massive house party at The Players club on Gramercy Park. Plus, the Snap bag has become a status item for a certain subset of in-the-know shoppers.

20. Gucci

As was said last brand rank, Gucci’s current strength is in its merchandising. We’re seeing the lever pulled even more, through multiple mentions of the Jackie bag—both from your current closets and wishlists—as well as horsebit items from collections’ past. Gucci clearly still thrives in the collective consciousness mainly through nostalgia for the past (multiple chat mentions of “2000s Gucci”), which is exactly what Demna’s whole design practice is about. Demna’s latest “Store Show” delivers the commercial aspect explicitly.

Honorable mentions

The brands that rank in positions 21 onwards can tell a more diverse and shifting story than the power players that tend to wind up on our official list quarter after quarter. In the spirit of recognizing their relevance in Magasin’s collective shopping psyche, a mini ranking of the top 30:

I’ve made it to Sunset Tower, where my plan is to work, decompress, and “do High Touch things” after a carnival-esque 36 hours in Palo Alto with Meta.

Have you guys tried the glasses? It was my first time. Very early-digital-camera way of capturing a moment, down to the flattering, skin-blurring lower-res quality. And I like that they naturally offer POV material that’s nothing at all like the staged stuff on TikTok where, just out of frame, someone is wearing an iPhone harness.

But that’s not really what I’ve been thinking about since I left. By now, you’ve heard that Meta announced new frames with Ray-Ban and Blackpink’s Lisa (I got the Capri pair), plus a sleeker-than-what’s-on-the-market VR device that’s being positioned for productivity more than just gaming. But the big through line was that Meta wants to be chic.

I was invited alongside a group of fashion people that included Mike Amiri, Laura Kim & Fernando Garcia, Chris Black, Zanna Roberts Rassi, Puck’s Malique Morris, Wayman Bannerman & Micah McDonald, and a dozen others, the lot of us shuffled through the Severance-scale campus by Eva Chen to panels with IG’s Adam Mosseri and AI execs and seated front row at the keynote presentation, within AirDrop distance of James Cameron. Mark (Zuckerberg…) came to speak to our group directly after the announcement. He wore The Row pants and a custom Amiri t-shirt, which he pounded his fist into on stage in a tender exchange with its designer Mike, who was seated two people to my right.

The emphasis on us, plus that Times article from this morning, plus the emergence of a new, formalized design language at Meta—Alan Dye, its new Chief Design Officer who was poached from Apple earlier this year, told me about the “grown-up hacker” look he was establishing for the company, one inspired by Donald Judd and Frank Gehry—tells me this is the just start of Meta’s strategic presence in fashion spaces.

• So we know all about elevated basics…but what about funky basics? The devil’s in the details in LES-alt-girl institution Café Forgot’s Forgot, the indie store’s debut in-house line. Drawstrings are moved to the side on the library skirt; the journal pant has a fold-over waistband reminiscent of a yoga pant, but are made of a classier cotton twill. Two Maya-favorites are the honest top and Agnes hoodie dress for their strategic use of the cap-sleeve.

• UNIQLO:C, erstwhile Givenchy / Chloé creative director Clare Waight Keller’s price-capped line for the brand, rolls out FW26 with a whole lot of color and cashmere (sometimes at the same time, in the case of the fluffy relaxed v-neck and cardigan sweaters). The shirts are ideal for making a styling statement, particularly this cotton stand collar number. Plus, for the first time, leather boots and shoes for under $100.

• Lots going on at Net-A-Porter this fall. Two new brands join the ranks: French minimalist outdoor-wear brand Rier with its fishing-inspired leather knee boots and virgin fleece half-zips, and Antwerp Six icon Ann Demeulemeester, from the slinky goth maxi dresses to classic boots like the Henrica. Extreme Cashmere also returns to the site with everything from snoods to sweaters, as does Lauren Manoogian with similar (yet more neutral, as in the case of the belted Coto cardigan) cozy fare. To round it all out, some new FW26 McQueen, some of McGirr’s finer and more subdued work, like this pleated wool dress and cropped floral jacket.

• Meet Culians, an independent outerwear brand based in NYC. The brand just launched Collection 01, a comfy duo of lambswool sweaters each in two colorways: one striped in a superfine fabrication, and one with a sweet sailor collar made out of a thicker milled fabric.

• It’s shaping up to be the season of oversized hide coats. From Rachel Comey, an entire edit dedicated to shearling, from the collarless hill jacket to the Vanelli coat; and from Eckhaus Latta, the woolen bomber and an associated furry act, the Toscana coat made in 100% suede-backed shearling.

• There’s also: A new edit of Prada mini bags, including the new top handle Avoir; the very angular COS outerwear collection which features some very Khaite-like uniform coats; a restock of the Kallmeyer x Nike tennis centre shoe; the arrival of some of the more eccentric Acne Studios runway looks, including the $3,800 snake-printed bag; some FW26 newness from Maria McManus, car coats and all; and the Alison Roman x Margaux collaboration collection, featuring a very fashion-food girl-style platform clog.

Men’s releases

• Veja and Magliano team up to present the Panenka leather sneaker, a shoe inspired by vintage European football cleats. There’s an elongated tongue and double laces, just in case you couldn’t decide on colors. The Panenka also comes in tan and metallic pink, with unisex sizing.

• Huge day for that guy you know who only listens to music made by Black people and gets his “taste” from Instagram moodboard accounts: the A.P.C. x Clarks Originals collaboration is out. The capsule focuses on two silhouettes, the desert boot and the crepe-soled weaver, and delivers them in very “fashion” colors, like this blue ribbed split Italian leather.

• There’s also: A Visvim collection exclusive to Mr Porter, featuring an $11k leather jacket; and the puffed-up Jeff Koons artist collaboration with Hublot (yes, it’s the balloons but watches).

Home releases

• Architect Sam Chermayeff just launched some new storage solutions with MCM giant Knoll and, as to be expected, they’re forever pieces. Chermayeff puts his unique bend on the Knoll simple-clean that makes pieces like the bar cabinet an instant classic (if you have between $7-10k to spare).

• The Thom Browne uniform is unmistakable, and it has a new addition: this collaboration pair of QuietComfort Ultra headphones done with Bose. The headphones bear the mark of the designer: a light grey grosgrain, the 4-bar motif, the little red white and blue tag. At $950, these are a really great collectible that you can actually use for a high-quality audio experience.

• The Tory Burch fall event is here, just in time for a Nor’easter. The deal? 25% off all purchases $200 and up, and 30% off purchases $500 and up. For the best deal, we recommend stacking carts just barely above $500 to maximize that 30%, or just going for a piece like the embellished mirror skirt which, right at $519, ends up at $363.

• It’s a fall friends and family sale at Maison Rogue with FF2026 at checkout, granting 30% off all pieces in this edit. Maison Rogue stocks a lot of brands-to-watch from the Magasin matrix like 6397 and Aya Muse, so this sale is a great chance to see if a missed-out-on cardigan or cargo pant exists here in your size.

• There’s up to 70% off of Shopbop’s sale section, as a sort of “this is final” moment. This is the kind of discount that’s more indicative of a last call for merchandise that wasn’t sold through, with some random gems as a reward for digging—like this Aesther Ekme crossbody marked down to $274 from $685.

7p H&M reception + show at Olympia London — a large-format runway designed by the known British quantity, photographer and image-maker, Nick Knight. The collections revealed themselves (despite…further events!!) over several distinct acts: renaissance-romantic, Western glam, a sharp men’s story, and CBK-coded tailoring. The whole experience was more of a theatrical affair than a standard runway, with performances by the Brazilian ballet dancer Ingrid Silva, musician Labrinth (who also designed the soundtrack), and even Alex Consani who played out a love story on stage as a finale to the catwalk. It looked exactly like fashion shows always seemed to me in magazines growing up.

9p Dinner at Café Clement with Sourcewhere’s Erica Wright — a new-ish restaurant from Soho House founder Nick Jones, inside his hotel St. Clement. The hotel anchors the 180 Quarter, an ambitious block-wide project from husband and wife Mark Wadhwa and Alex Eagle that also holds private residences, cocktail lounge Bobbi’s Bar, and cafe-grocery Corner Shop—plus a boutique of Eagle’s.

2p H&M re-see at Rosewood London — I got the chance to speak with Creative Advisor and Head of Design Ann-Sofie Johansson, who I mined for shopping intel; she specifically cited the vintage store Relik in Notting Hill as a go-to source for old Galliano and McQueen, references that made their way into the collection’s more period-piece laces and corsetry and even its accessories (belt were a big focus this season). She told me her top destination for inspo in London, though, is Dover Street Market—better than the New York one, perhaps because the Comme des Garçons universe that encompasses it tends more British than American.

4p London Design Festival in Brompton Design District — curated this season by Alex Tieghi-Walker, who tapped Rafael Prieto and Beverly Nguyen among others to set up installations at its Cromwell Place venue; spotted works by Laila Gohar, Conie Vallese, Isamaya French, Wretched Flowers, Shane Gabier, and Calico Wallpaper. Plus, a delightful assembly of “One Tool, One Stool” figures by students of the Royal College of Arts.

• Several of the H&M pieces that went down the runway launched online at 9pm, the moment the show ended, but the motherload of H&M Studio pieces has just arrived to site today, my own layered sheer skirt and fur-trim puffer coat among them. Having seen it first on stage, then on racks at the re-see, it’s additive to see it on ecomm, too. My wishlist has grown to include a sculptural leather jacket with a chin strap and tie-belt that add styling opportunities, a cheeky wool pencil skirt, and several fringy layers that I am imagining stacked on top of each other.

• Pop-up newspapers and zines were everywhere during NYFW: from ALC (I wrote a piece for it), Emily Dawn Long, Kallmeyer (I posed for this one), Vogue Shopping, Nordstrom, Westman Atelier, Coach, even Talbots. And LFW was on the same kick as early as day 1. Shreeji Newsagents—London’s Iconic or Casa Magazines—had a line halfway down the block 5 hours ahead of a giveaway of the new issue of Dazed Magazine plus free Adidas Stan Smiths for the first 100 shoppers.

• Did you know Jacques Marie Mage does more than just eyewear? I contemplated at length this eelskin wallet during my appointment at the store, but decided I’d hold out until Paris this October, when the brand is rumored to be debuting its custom frames program (h/t )—I can already confirm (scoop?) it’s announcing its entry into fine jewelry then, too.

• Perfumer H was a big supporting character of the week—aside from my own purchases, I gathered intel that the brand is launching its latest fragrance, Clay, tomorrow. I also learned that founder Lyn Harris created a bespoke fragrance for the lobby at St. Clement, lemon-and-orange themed like its signature Clementini cocktail (I had two and half at dinner), available exclusively in person at the gift shop.

• A High Touch-y note, and LAST THING about this hotel group, I swear: It’s opening a three-story wellness club this October with a gym, banya, hammam, sauna, steam room, ice baths, treatment rooms, and an 82-foot lap pool. All I can say is…see you again soon, London.

Greetings from wifi purgatory on my flight to SFO. This intro is coming to you by way of SMS from my post in the skies to a grounded Alyssa. Thanks, Alyssa.

I’m heading to town for a Meta thing that I’ll have more details for you about soon. I’m guessing (and maybe you can guess, too) that it has something to do with the best Prada collection in years that went down the runway in Milan this morning. Seeing it sent me directly to The RealReal to scout old Prada skirts, of which there is an abundance at all times. (I also found this insanely priced—under $1k—fur coat that I’d buy for myself if I didn’t think it’d make me look “hippy.”) It really felt like Miuccia said, let’s play the hits on all varieties of their beloved knee-lengths.

It’s all very tempting. Shopping always is just before Paris, which I told everyone I wouldn’t be attending this season and then, of course, am (that’s two stops after SFO). I like to wear a fun new thing when buying a fun new thing. Today’s send is getting me high on my own supply: tabs open for a current-season, on-sale Celine trench coat; envelope clutch; sport glasses.

• 6397’s SS27 runway was a major hero during NYFW, and those newly initiated to the brand can dip a toe in with the new arrivals from FW26. Everything is wearable yet exciting, a delicate balance best exemplified by pieces like the knit sporting blazer, chevron dress in grape-y shade Viola, and of course, the printed L/S crew tees (the sunbeam yellow is an ideal shade).

• Nour Hammour’s new collection takes us to France at the witching hour. Entitled ‘Paris, After Dark,’ we’re seeing all the NH big guns wheeled out in evening-deep colors: the warm chestnut funnel-neck Cameron shearling jacket and rich black leather Viret foulard leather midi skirt, for example. Also not to be missed are the ponyhair pieces, like the Alana midi skirt and Hadley jacket, each in a chocolate brown.

• Loewe and Cosima von Bonin released a leather sandal collaboration exclusive to MyTheresa, and it’s the most Jack-and-Lazaro-coded thing we’ve ever seen. The shoe, called the New Comic, is a mismatched-on-purpose strappy stiletto, combining gingham, plaid, and python, with a gold chain ankle fastener on the left shoe only. It’s the kind of balance-in-chaos that makes sense for the Proenza Schouler founders to infuse into their take on Loewe, and soft-launching with a collab is a great way to go.

• The new AW26 womenswear from Cawley riffs on the central brand language in a way that’s fit for fall. The brand consistently thrives in the high concept-low concept mode of dressing, exemplified in this collection by basics like the unisex short sleeve tee, and more tailored Japanese typewriter cotton pieces like the Eliza puff sleeve blouse or Lydbrook dress.

• There are new love-centric pieces over at Dorsey for all the pre-fall romantics out there. Meet Romy, an eternity ring with a cigar band shape made up of rows of round-cut moissanite (the sterling silver is only $420?!), and Ellis, a series of minimalist lab diamond engagement rings (the pear-cut solitaire shape is a favorite).

• There’s also: A perfectly spiced Everybody.World FW26 collection (see: the reds and purples) out now, including some specialized corduroy separates; a suit-ready shoe collaboration between Balenciaga and J.M. Weston; the new Boky bag by Polène, a handbag inspired by a splayed book; Musc Miroir, a new fragrance by Ormaie that combines notes of pink pepper, saffron, and tonka bean for an animalian, sensual scent; Still Here’s new Utah wash, a cooler toned denim somewhere between true blue and grey; and Viktor&Rolf x Mackintosh, a rain-safe collaboration with two pleated-pocket rain macs fit for any gloomy day.

Men’s releases

• Wake up, babe…the second fall drop from Toteme men’s just landed. Where the first teaser was jeans-and-tees forward, this second part includes some more coats (still waiting on the Base coat for pre-order), some really considered cable cardigans, and a charcoal melange suit.

• The FW26 Gimaguas menswear collection is kinda like Tank Air but for boys. There are a few pieces that are more chuckle-inducing than something to take 100% seriously, like the pre-distressed striped Steeve polo, but the majority takes a good stab at a 2026-tinged normcore. The proposed daywear uniform looks like this: the Cani trousers held up by the Andrea belt, Ruben shirt, and Etienne jacket if it gets chilly.

Home releases

• Pre-fab, in the case of the Kettal x Eames Office collaboration, doesn’t have to mean canned. The Spanish design brand and legendary office furniture label combine forces to present the Eames Pavilion system, a structure that can be used for something as small as an in-home lounge, or as big as a home itself. While the structures are pre-fabricated, certain customizations can be made by contacting the Kettal experts at their website.

• Who says precious gemstones and metals must be relegated to jewelry? Not L’Objet and diamond jewelry designer Jessica McCormack, who come together to share these fine home objects reminiscent of a Marie Antoinette (2006) deleted scene. There are scoop bowls and dessert coupes fashioned like gilded shells, including a coordinating set of flatware dressed up in its own little jewelry box.

• Designer Giampiero Tagliaferri has had an ongoing collaboration with Minotti Studio for the past two years, and this season’s pieces take a more streamlined approach to seating. A vintage-feeling space age sofa is one thing, and the more minimal Orion is another—an envelope-style layout crafted with FSC certified wood components.

• There’s also: Doen x Trove, a collaboration of jewelry boxes, trays, and receptacles fit for any bathroom counter or vanity; a private collection of vintage Japanese homewares at H.Lorenzo that’s worthy of an antique store; and some Rick Owens-level artisanal crafted speakers by LA-based sculptural speaker makers OBEN HIFI.

• On Senser, there is quite a bit of Celine up to 60% off. The majority of the discounts are on small non-leather accessories, but there are a few new season pieces—like this cornflower blue cotton poplin blouse and eyewear like the full-frame sunglasses—included in the sale.

• SSENSE just launched an extra 20% off with code FW2026 at checkout for select full-price styles fresh in for the season. This is a great opportunity to consider investment pieces from your favorite designers, because it’s rare we get this kind of a discount. On our list: the Jil Sander Elbe slip on loafers and Leset off-white Barb wide leg trousers, to name a couple.

• Bergdorf is also having a new season sale, offering 25% off fall collections ranging from Marni to Veronica Beard. From Marni: the trompe l’oeil denim sleeveless midi is down to $1,312 from $1,750; from miss Beard, the Rickie plaid jacket is now $523, down from $698.

Hi from High Touch! Today we’re back with a fresh questionnaire (yes, so soon!) from a source a lot of you will be interested in hearing from. Chris Black is the first guy to come on the pod to talk aesthetics and longevity. If you know anything about Chris, you know he always brings his takes—on pimple stickers, ketamine in doctors’ offices, bottled water at restaurants—but he’s also very much about this life and, seemingly, down to try anything with a net health positive.

So, today you’ll learn from Chris about maintaining moisturized eyes, mastering the Wim Hof method, finding the concierge doc he’s referred half a dozen clients to, being the second freak I’ve interviewed here who does bloody wet cupping (with the same practitioner as , no less), the challenges of Lanserhof, the joys of sobriety, and so much more. But first, what’s bubbling up in the High Touch universe this week:

A touch of High Touch

• Custom skincare platforms have been around for a while (Musely, Nurx), but a new one, Cottonball, wants to merge that world with the world of luxury beauty. It tapped Ron Robinson, who made products for Clinique, La Mer, and Rhode, for its formulations; the intended outcome combines the clinical efficacy of ingredients like tret, azelaic, estriol, and rapamycin and a pleasantness of use that’s been missing from the previous gen. The packaging design would fit right in at Happier Grocery.

• Technogym, the fitness equipment company that satisfies both my workout and design inclinations, launched a Pilates reformer this week aimed at the high-end resorts and HNW households it typically serves (the machine costs almost $14,000). I will probably never have one in my house, but Technogym has the kind of pull that if I saw it listed among the amenities of a hotel I was considering staying in, it would move the needle; if I saw the reformer and the hotel offered classes / privates, that’s something I would seriously consider as a schedule simplifier during a busy FW trip or something like that.

• The sunscreen ingredient bemotrizinol that became the first new SPF ingredient approved in the US in decades this summer is finally trickling onto mass market shelves: Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Daily Face Sunscreen, $18, and its Clear Face Sunscreen Acne-Prone Skin Broad Spectrum SPF, $18, are both legit made-for-US-consumer products now sold on Amazon. Ultra Violette’s Unblock Screen SPF 50, $40, is the niche option.

• We’re making gut supplements from human breastmilk now. You’ve probably heard at least bits and pieces of the breastfed-vs-formula health dialogue, and kēpos is basically the inevitable outcome of that; think of it like colostrum but from from human-derived oligosaccharides that are being used to manage IBS. Worth a shot if other interventions haven’t helped much.

Skincare / SPF

I don't really do a whole lot. I think like most guys, if you live with a woman, you have access to stuff that you wouldn't buy yourself. I helped my friend Drew start a brand called Margin, so I use that cleanser. There's a moisturizer as well that I really like—it's just simple and it smells good. For whatever reason, I've used eye cream since I was in high school. I don't know why. When I was at the height of my drug use, before I go to bed, I'm putting on eye cream. I used Kiehl’s back in the day, but now I use the Aesop one because I like the way it smells. I don't need anything super technical. If I have to use sunscreen—I really don't like to, which I know is bad—I use Augustinus Bader. If I'm going to do a mask, I like the Biologique Recherche one that smells bad. I still use Queen Helene masks—it’s, like, CVS shit, but it just feels like it works. If I do a sheet mask, we use 111Skin. They’re really nice.

Haircare + scalp health

People think I’m crazy because I have a shaved head, but I shampoo and condition twice a day, because I shower twice a day. It just feels good. I use Santa Maria Novella, they make a shampoo for men that’s sort of for the whole body. The scent is Melograno, I love it. I’ve used it forever. Then I’ll use conditioner. I’ll use Nécessaire or Aesop, depending on how I’m feeling that day.

Bodycare

Magic Molecule: It’s one of those things, it actually already exists in your body, but it heals things faster. If you spray it on a cut or anything, it heals it quite quickly. I spray it on my face a couple times a day, almost like a rose water or something. It feels refreshing, but it also has healing properties.

Hands / feet / nails

I have a real issue with feeling moisturized. I don't like that feeling. I have every hand cream under the sun in this house—I have the Santa Maria Novella, I have the Aesop, I have the Frama, have them all. And I’ll do it if my hands hurt, but otherwise I’m like, I can’t. I tragically bite my fingernails, so that’s kind of off limits. Mondays, if my schedule aligns, I take a Chris day and I take a CitiBike to the East Village. I get my haircut and then I get a pedicure. I get a pedicure every two weeks, probably. I think that as a man, your feet are inherently gross, especially if you exercise. The least you can do is get a pedicure. It costs forty bucks, it’s fine. There’s nothing emasculating about it at all.

Eyes

I use those eye drops, they're Japanese, Rohtos. I buy three packs at a time on Amazon. I keep them in the refrigerator. I have a refrigerator in our house that’s my film, my peptides, and my eyedrops, and that’s my zone. I’ll use eye patches if there’s something coming up, like if I’m getting my picture taken. I’ll do those in the morning and those will be Augustinus Bader as well.

Oral health

I’m pretty old school. I really like to try new toothpastes, though. I’ll try any flavor of Marvis. When I go to Italy, I buy different flavors to try. I love giving those as gifts, too. I use the Marvis whitening toothpaste. I use Marvis toothbrushes as well. I use the Marvis mouthwash, too. I really like it. Even though they say it’s bad for you. There’s a lot of debate about mouthwash, but I like the way it feels.

Fragrance

I’m a big fragrance person, but I only wear one and I’ve worn it for probably 12 years: Wonderwood by Comme des Garçons. I don’t believe in switching up for the seasons. I love it. I honestly feel like I get a compliment on it every day, still. I wanted to talk about this new deodorant I got, from Taylor of Old Bond Street. I was with my friend Osman in London and we were doing some shopping. It’s like an old men’s barber shop, it’s a sweet tobacco scent and I recently ordered three sticks. I love it and it’s something I’m happy to import to add to my regimen.

What happens during fashion week? All of the collections that went down runways last fashion week arrive in stores. (Rains → pours.) While we were busy Reporting Live!, there were so many collections, collabs, and solo releases that we’re skipping sale coverage today to highlight more of what’s new.

Lots to finally buy from the fall lines—Kallmeyer’s matador pants and those wide-wale Tory Burch cords stand out. Meanwhile, Leset drops a surprise shoe collection, their first ever (love these silky mules), and of the many new bags that just came into existence, Fane’s Pli is the one I need soonest.

A lot happening on the home front, too, not just fashion: Yves Salomon Éditions debuts an in-house furniture line that builds on the shearling textiles it’s been developing over a slew of explorations and collaborations—yes, very sexy; Marine Serre does a crescent moon folding chair (?); and Maiden Home’s newest collection puts it further into the word of high-end furnishings (including an almost Chareau-ish stool I’m very happy to see).

I’m in London now, where fashion week is happening too! And Milan is next, which means the season’s new arrivals will keep coming. If you want to get in the Milanese spirit faster, Lucy Delius’ Sciura fine jewelry collection is exactly the stuff of slow-moving, glittering Italian donnas.

What’s new

• St. Agni SS27 is now available for pre-order exclusively through Moda Operandi, and the selection is chock-full of creamy neutrals. The season’s best are the matching sets, like the wool blend cuffed pants and cami, as well as the statement pieces, like the deco fringe slip dress in a milky off-white for (the very good price of) $540. The ornate silk wool coat, cami, and minimal pants combine both of those worlds impeccably.

• FW26 alert from the capital-L NYC Labels: From Kallmeyer, some excellently unexpected corduroy suiting and various pieces like the Ivette dress adorned with Art Deco-inspired beadwork. From Fforme, a lot of deliciously simple shift-y pieces like the Oriana dress and floor-length Noah coat. Finally, Tory Burch blesses us with a little extension on that ’40s bit she’s been running, with runway pieces like the purple jacquard shirtdress and bunny knot pump.

• Some bag talk while the leaves turn: Lemaire’s newest sling bag named Care (it resembles a toiletry bag), and the sculptural Pli bag (designed to expand like a file folder) from Parisian brand Fane. Metier’s also got some newness for fall, like the Ease 24 clutch, and fresh, deep colors like the suede merlot version of the Private Eye. Then there’s Loewe’s rather weird $3,400 Whisker bag, a semi-smushed top handle (kinda?) shoulder bag (also kinda?), with long leather pulls on the double-zip closure that resemble kitten whiskers.

• This is a skivvies-forward publication, in case you didn’t already know: Else has some classy new lingerie colors—midnight blue and an ecru-beige called oat milk—which look great in the stretch pointelle mesh Bella collection. Magasin-favorite Kye Intimates introduces the FW26 collection with some contour-hugging jersey basics, like these grey lounge pants and this baby tee.

• Banana Republic and La Ligne announce their fall collaboration, one that infuses American classics with a pointed NYC flair. It’s all extra stripe-y as La Ligne is wont to do, with a bit of luxe-casual styling, like the suede wrap midi skirt paired with the boxy cotton striped tee. The poplin tunic is also a brilliant meeting of the minds (and it’s only in stock in two sizes).

• Leset’s first shoe collection is somehow even better than we thought—big ups to them for designing for so many different consumers! Highlights are the Rose Mary Jane with some funky toe-windows on the vamp, the smoking slipper-esque Romy mule (the printed pair is fabulous), and the sportier, vintage-Merrel-reminiscent Sonny slip-on.

• Cordera FW26 is wearing me (Maya) out. It’s the return of the dropwaist, the baggy long-sleeve with an even baggier bottom-heavy structured hoodie, and a personal favorite: the naughty little hand-beaded bag. This collection balances a “cool” feeling with relaxed silhouettes while remaining feminine, which is not an easy feat.

• There’s a lot of new bling for fall in the “finer things in life” price category, if you catch our drift. Lucy Delius releases her new collection called Sciura, a bamboo-like deployment of antique finish gold and pave diamonds, where all pieces for everyday wear—from the $23k bangle to the $5,400 the huggie earrings—maintain the same sense of luxury. There are also some jewelry firsts, like Kindred Black’s foray into fine jewelry (and a strong one at that, the marble-like topaz locket is an inspired choice), as well as House of Wunder’s inaugural venture into fine jewelry and timepieces (we envision the Amplifier midi watch stacked with the Wunderflow bracelet). Plus, Sylvie Auray’s Little Heads collection at Carven, ceramic doll-like pendants held together with a twisted silk cord and gold-plated brass clasp.

• Reformation’s FW26 campaign, titled “Good Sport,” features Olivia Jade wearing a curated collection of collegiate-prep pieces meant for cracking the books in crisper weather. The edit features items like the Jonie cashmere oversized scoopneck sweater and looks-good-with-baseball-cap Deja dress, as well as a tongue in cheek crewneck reading “College”—referencing both Animal House (1978) and the infamous admissions scandal Jade was embroiled in. We’ll give it to them, this is funny.

• There’s also: A little something from Demna’s much-discussed Gucci, with some leather and logo moments mixed in among the irreverent printed silk crepe de chine skirts and dresses; Uniqlo U’s newest collection with some seriously unisex-y outerwear; Repetto x Yohji Yamamoto’s sold out (for now…) square-toed ballerina collaboration; the ponyhair clog-like shoe collaboration between TWP and Commbi; a rock n’ roll studded Birkenstock by Etro; the Hadid-led brand Guest In Residence launches its first denim collection with a suite of loose-legged silhouettes; Dorsey’s latest mossanite confections for fall; and the purple-washed FW26 Still Here collection.

Men’s releases

• Gap x A.P.C. launches today, a moment of shared visual language between the two brands. As is to be expected, there are a lot of “just chillin” pants-jacket combos, like the deep olive corduroy relaxed straight pants paired with the lined Japanese denim jacket. There’s also an APC hoodie in the style of the iconic Gap collegiate-font hoodie, for those who like to partake in some sartorial word play.

• There’s also: Kent’s clean, classic brief, the brand’s take on men’s tighty-whities; the first AW26 drop from Colbo, featuring some rather fetching canvas pieces like this half-zip; and the launch of UGG x Willy Chavarria, a comfy suite of boots inspired by the hard-edged culture of leather.

Home releases

• The poet and the painter, once separated from the contemporary world via their art, are now joining it in this Olive Ateliers collection. Inspired by the oft-alienating qualities of poetry or painting, the selection features American-pastoral-classic slipcover pieces like the Maud chair and ottoman, as well as antique-washed hutch cabinets like the Hilltop.

• Maiden Home introduces FW26 in a big way, casement sofas and all. A lot of the collection is inspired by Brazilian modernism, with all the necessary nods to Sergio Rodriguez and Percival Lafer in the Aria mirror, Strata console, and a personal favorite, the leather-worked Fio stool. Festen Architecture also announces its first furniture collection with some elevated primary colors: an off-ochre low-to-the-ground armless couch, dingy-chic blue patinated bronze wall sconce, and off-tomato red slipcover-style chair.

• Yves Salomon Editions’s first interior collection is an ode to the fainting couch, and associated furniture acts; the Moka daybed and the Dune pouf are perfect for necessary lounging. There’s an array of accessory cushions in ultrasoft merino shearling to serve as accoutrements, too.

• In case you’ve ever wanted a branded seat, Marine Serre and Chaisor have collaborated on folding chairs in the all-over moon motif. This is artist Sarah Coleman’s influence—the woman who made a design habit of turning some spare Louis Vuitton bags into upholstery for various chairs a decade ago.

• There’s also: the new ridged stainless steel echo fruit bowl from Service Projects; Collina Strada’s graphic interiors collection with Layered; the Sander Lak-designed textiles for Maharam, including the purple, fleece-like Bolero; some new hand-crafted pieces in the artisanal lighting category by Abask, in whimsical materials and shapes like the Yuxuan Huang hand-painted paper table lamp in the shape of a butterfly; and the thick, caramel scent of the new Flamingo Estate Croquembouche candle.

10a Heirlome show — inaugural runway for the Latin-run, artisan-driven brand; refined, high-end stuff but not generic—the piles upon piles of various weaving techniques provide perspective to pieces like silk cummerbunds and collared shirts. -  LR

11a Advisry show — this feels like the first season designer Keith Herron really went from the “fun knits” brand to a full fashion concept. The show was outlined in three acts each based on inflection points in Black American history, reflected in the evolving mood of the outerwear: the croc-embossed straightjackets were a major standout. - MK

11:30a Sloan presentation — designer Julia Sloan explained that SS27 takes the brand’s human-led design ethos to its sun-tired extreme—from the hand-crocheted vest tanks and lightweight one-shoulder sheath dresses to the bare feet and messy hair styling. - MK

2p 6397 show — designer Stella Ishii accurately captured the unfazed-yet-unhardened New Yorkers in her circles, dressing up her characters in clothes they inspired and clothes they’ll eventually, happily buy. There’s a lot of love for this brand right now. The right price, a ton of soul and humanity, wearable stuff. I likened it to my seatmate to “New York’s Auralee.” - LR

5p Thom Browne show — there’s NYFW, and then there’s Thom Browne, in a lane of its own. If you exist outside of the Browne-iverse, it’s excusable to forget about it away from the twice-yearly Broadway-tier productions it puts on, but every time that happens, I’m reminded how good of a suit TB can cut, and how fun it would be to be inside many layers of its tweeds and poplins, like an impressive, insect-based storybook figure. - LR

7p How Long Gone “The Goneies” awards show — a real who’s who of Straight Guys in Media, a funny vibe shift after a week of runway shows. I stuck around long enough to watch Blondshell perform and see Mary Beth Barone and Mark Ronson accept awards for “It Girl of the Year” and “Best Dressed Man or Woman,” respectively. Charli xcx won “Album of the Year” and thanked the boys via video message since she was about to play a second sold-out show at Barclays Center in less than an hour—which inspired me to buy a last-minute ticket and book it to the train with in order to make it in time. - AV

• I ran into Akari Endo-Gaut at the tail end of the Chan Luu presentation (which I just missed) at Marcel, the restaurant at Sotheby’s that I also visited earlier in the week for Nordstrom’s fall campaign cocktail. She’d DMed me after my first stop in when I posted jewelry styled in a glass case, twirled around a fork and resting on a beautiful ceramic plate. Akari is one of those behind-the-scenes creative power players who is secretly in charge of the way the best-looking things look. She’d been working with Roman and Williams Guild on Marcel for six years before it opened, developing with a centuries-old porcelain producer in Japan the ceramic wares that I had mistaken for Ginori. She says the silverware “almost broke her” they were so complex to make. Expect a deeper dive with her on this project here sometime, we scarcely scratched the surface during our in-passing chat of all the object obsessiveness that makes the place what it is: an instant NY icon.

• Alex Mill’s cashmere collection drops today, and I wore my new v-neck (above) the moment I got it—I think it looks so Mrs. Prada. Right away, Calvin Klein’s Alix Rutsey said it was “a very good sweater!” I am ready to embrace all that a cashmere drop represents: my v-neck an evolution of easy, one-thing dressing, and the long-sleeve polo on my to-get list an invitation for collar layering.

• The Nike Moons that went down the runway with 6397’s new collection were a really good match. Also featured, toe shoes tucked into heeled flip-flops. Feels kind of Substack-y to me?

• Just to say, now that the week is done, thank you to my Saltair AHA deodorant for rolling on clear and not damaging my clothes, plus for keeping me very fresh over some very long days. You the MVP.

• I’m so glad that my lifelong fixation with surfer girl style is being validated by Big Fashion this year. The summer gave us a killer Miaou x Roxy collaboration and surfboards on the Louis Vuitton men’s runway beneath a giant wave (shout-out fellow Virginia Beach native, Pharrell). This week, we got Hawaiian prints and swimsuits peeking out from looks at Emily Dawn Long, 6397, and The Society Archive’s debut shows, and Made Some Sportswear popped up to bring its popular California board shorts to NYFW. The vintage Sex Wax long-sleeve t-shirt I bought on eBay recently is going to get a lot of milage this fall.

12p Fforme show — I’m a fan of the brand, have been attending since the first runway (Paul Helbers era), and wore my own Fforme to the show. It was difficult while watching the procession yesterday, and still is, to grab onto even a piece with any relationship to that original promise of the “strong woman.” I’m not in the business of panning, but what I saw was eerily unrecognizable, and it was sad to witness a dovetail into sameness. - LR

1:30p Colleen Allen presentation — more so than a lot of shows and presentations, which can be like watching a brand upload files to the cloud, my Colleen appointment always feels like, “so what did you make for us this season?” Witchy things tailored with no compromises in grape soda silk, plus another careful increase in the number of wardrobe (i.e. real clothes) pieces; my favorites are the sheer, slinky knits as tanks, pencil skirts, and narrow dresses. Also: a Swedish Stockings onesie collaboration launching in tandem. - LR

• I ran into who wore the large-format python Jude bag—wow. I think it’s the sleeper hit bag of the moment: I wore my suede evening version to Nordstrom’s cocktail at Marcel earlier this week, where VP of fashion Brooke Bobb asked to take its picture, and I saw it in suede XL in Toteme Soho’s VIP room, slung on the back of a very chic woman’s chair (I was there for an appointment, regret not asking who it was). The brand launched the bags very slyly a few months ago, and yet it’s already found its way onto “the right people.”

• The Eckhaus Latta x J.Crew collaboration that walked the runway on Friday (and threw a house party) launches online today. Everything is under $500 but most things are under $300. My guesses on the first to go: the striped mohair mini vest, the barn jacket, the chinos.

• Something I’m chewing on: A pre-order email for the just-shown Tory Burch collection hit my inbox yesterday, which proved enlightening on the pricing front. Runway has always been premium, but it certainly feels like numbers are ticking up. $4,000 and $5,000 dresses, $6,000 coats, $2,000 scarves. I don’t want to seem unfairly critical, there are also $400 knits tops, $600 heels, and $250 sunglasses that I will be ordering. The thing that strikes me is how much is listed as made-to-order and won’t be hitting stores ever.
  
  This is part of a bigger pattern that’s shown up throughout the week—Mel Usine’s private client business model that largely skips over the everyday shopper and serves the bride or the “money is no object” woman who buys customs in multiples. The bleachers at Tibi’s show were stacked with VICs, and the seats at Khaite were “at least 50% investors and their families” as one person put it to me. The word is that each look that went down the Khaite runway totals at least $50,000 between apparel and accessories. And one influencer who attended said she was almost certainly there “for how much she spends” at the brand, and not because of her social channels. How many of those clothes will actually make it to the store?
  
  We talk a lot about the affordability crisis, which is very real, but we’re also heading into an access crisis, one where brands bypass their own windows, sites, and third-party sellers and go direct to their top spenders. The widening wealth gap is pushing brands to charge more, privately, to the point where, in order to buy something, you have to have the money and the right connections. Big death of retail upon us.

12:30p Presley Oldham presentation — I am very charmed by the Hudson-based jewelry designer and his collection that’s heavy on freshwater pearls, coral, and colorful, vintage stones. The pieces are even more delightful layered up than they are on their own; I gravitated toward bracelets made of striped glass beads that resemble Danish hard candies. - AV

1p COS show — despite events (!), we still got a collection that, in classic COS form, was made available to buy immediately. Wool coats at generous ankle lengths, leather-ribbon separates, and my favorite, a pair of so-shiny-you-could-see-your-reflection-in-them silver trousers (that are already selling out). - LR

2p Sandy Liang show — plenty of the requisite pretty, pretty princess fare is on offer again this season, but with a sporty, utilitarian twist. My favorite series of looks included roomy track jackets styled with tulle skirts, belted with a signature Sandy oversized bow. - AV

3p Magda Butrym show — the brand’s first NY show; admittedly took the Saint Laurent on the mood board very literally, but still look after look of “I would wear that”—if at times “am I tall enough for that?” I can see myself adding more Magda to my closet this year. - LR

4p The Society Archive Collection show — Marcus Allen’s collection of vintage Abercrombie and Banana Republic put the Bruce Weber back into 2020s men’s fashion. Now, he’s taking his affection for surf codes, beefy guys, men in sarongs, and dorm-room boxers into a line he’s designing and producing himself. Instant downtown fixture. - LR

6p Miss Claire Sullivan at Dover Street Market — the designer has a booming custom business (every pop girl from Addison Rae to Rosalía has her on speed dial), but this week marks her first foray into ready-to-wear products. A tight collection of pieces, including a bolero jacket and a tulle-sleeved t-shirt, is now available at DSM and on her website for aspiring inhabitants of the Miss Claire universe, all sub-$1K. - AV

• After the Conner Ives show, I changed from my first look into a second look at Emily Dawn Long’s Chinatown apartment, a couple blocks from her screening venue. The next morning, Emily sends me a pic of her wearing the Claudia Twisk shirt I had tied around my waist. (My reply: “Shes new, european. shirts but also like cool dresses. you would like.”) A little while later, she sends me a screenshot of her order confirmation for the same shirt. A little later still, when I saw her at The Society Archive show, she tells me she’s just convinced Molly and Reese Blutstein and Literary Sport’s Jackie McKeown to order it, too. It’s a good shirt!

• I sat next to Throwing Fits’ Lawrence Schlossman and NYT Styles’ Jacob Gallagher at a show, and they clued me into Vivet, a menswear universe episode I’d missed entirely: Streamer Kai Cenat launched a brand with a runway show at Cipriani that both of my seatmates separately described as “like Yeezy, but not as bad as I thought it would be.” There is some debate as to weather a fur coat was made of real dog hair. PETA got the wrong address…

• My two cuties of the day, both spotted at Magda Butrym: model Alexandra Ágoston wearing a Magda leather jacket I wouldn’t have bought for myself until I saw it in person, plus (also Magda) capris and delicate little heels. And, New York Magazine’s Joanna Nikas in full Aflalo—a sweeping scarf top-dress and crinkly capris (that I own and am inspired to style exactly this way).

• The lace heels that went down the runway at Area (I didn’t attend, but saw on social) are from Evelina Kryvopust of Twins Design Studio’s graduate collection; she just released some pairs on her website today after an influx of demand. They are killer.
