12p Coffee with Maiden Home founder Nidhi Kapur at Marchesi 1824 — a good conversation with a smart founder who approaches luxury interiors not unlike Magasin: with an interest in making the space more legible. Maiden Home is, in many ways, the Khaite of furniture; independent, high-end, and transparent for the buyer who’d rather shop for themselves than outsource everything to a stylist. - LR

2p Ikea x Charlotte Taylor installation — one of the funnier things I heard this week was famously lived-in arranger of things Charlotte Taylor complaining how the Ikea staff would remake her painstakingly tousled bed each morning before the exhibition opened to the public. - LR

3p Panel at Alcova — I spoke about hospitality on a panel for design hotels. The best question was whether breakfast buffets are in or out. I think they are IN, but they need to be fully local and have a strong, singular perspective. - XD

4p Miu Miu Literary Club — artificial intelligence strikes again at a lecture by cultural theorist Olga Goriunova who made many High Touch-relevant points…the personalization of the capitalist machinery of desire…I will absolutely be picking up her book, “Ideal Subjects. The Abstract People of AI.” - LR

5p Comme Si x Sophie Lou Jacobsen Disco Aperitivo - LR

As Xavier pointed out to me over text, the design world has a new uniform this season: “Everyone is wearing the same Comme Si shirt in different colors. Including me for the last two nights…But I saw at least six other guys wearing it and a few girls, too.”

He sent me a selfie in a “good red.” I sent him one back of me in ledger stripes at that very moment, also Comme Si.

11a Fidenza Village visit — It was a gamble to allocate half a day of precious Milan time to sussing out the designer outlets an hour outside of the city, but I left with a bag full of Miu Miu, so I guess it paid off: the fine mohair track jacket I’d been watching on The RealReal for at least six months, and a nurse shirt that aligns neatly with my spring pastel inclinations. - LR

2p Osanna Visconti showroom visit — During the day, I followed Kate Berry and David Barry around town. We stopped for lunch at Trattoria Milanese, where we ran into Laila Gohar and Rafael Pietro. After lunch we visited Osanna Visconti to see her collection of cast furniture made with an ancient lost wax technique. From there, we went to see Beverly Nguyen give a talk on design and curation for “ALBUM.”

7p Artemest Collection by GACHOT cocktail — The spaces in Milan are routinely beautiful, and Artemest’s HQ takes the cake. It’s difficult to install works in these kinds of spaces; on the one hand, they are incredibly evocative and can enhance and expand the design story of a collection, but the risk is that the frescoed ceiling will steal the thunder. During design week, the utility of a gorgeous room is that it becomes the draw—but the work needs to exist within in a way that feels essential. - XD

7p RH Milan Opening Party — It was giving “money is no object.” Bar Basso came to this crowd, not the other way around. My martini was imported from Duke’s bar in London. Margot Robbie wore Brunello Cucinelli. Etc. - XD

3p Convey Project — didn’t make it for press previews yesterday, but made a point of going today to see Joshi / Greene’s incredible rail system. The brand’s just a year old with a handful of residential (and a few commercial) projects under their belt, but infinite runway ahead of them…I’m now scheming an entire room in my renovation to accommodate it. Also major from the fair was Rooms Studio, a Georgian design duo and favorite from last year who’ve put out a steel chair with a burlap slip that I’d love to see around my dining table. - LR

How to use this guide

Milan Design Week, a.k.a. Salone, is about as dense a discovery affair as you’ll find anywhere in the world. And everyone agrees that this season is the busiest it’s ever been. So! Over the next four days, (XD) and I (LR) will be on the ground stretching our mortal abilities in the name of research.

Some tips for shoppers navigating these recaps:

• Any brand we mention is here because it’s among the best in the world in its category (truly). They’re bolded and linked back to their website or Instagram; I strongly encourage you to click through to explore more and save the items or styles you like on a platform like Pinterest, Are.na, or Laterbuy.

• We’ve used photos sparingly (as much as Substack allows), but will be posting liberally on IG Stories. Follow us at @magsin.ltd.

9:15p Prada Frames EVENING SESSION — a 3-parter including a poetry reading by Momtaza Mehri, AI lecture by Kate Crawford, and piano performance by Mahia Rani; the narrative explored by scholar and TIME100 “most influential in AI” was especially synapse-firing. When else has Fruit Love Island shown up in a Basilica? And how should we be thinking about “slopaganda” (amazing coinage) throughout this week? I’m not convinced finger-wagging is the straightest path forward… - LR

I attended a gala for the screening of Brunello Cucinelli’s auto-documentary Brunello: The Gracious Visionary this week, at Lincoln Center’s Koch Theater. I wore a gray cashmere Cucinelli suit that was adjusted to my frame perfectly at a fitting in the days before (I ran into GQ’s who said, “Feels good to wear Brunello at Brunello, huh?” Yep.)

The doc itself was like a piece from the brand: visually rich, transportive, people-centric, and a sequin’s worth of affable corniness that made it identifiably him. The guy is a living legend, in large part because of the levity he brings to luxury. But the room was dripping in taste. The model Bianca Balti in a custom chevron sequin gown and pixie cut had her own gravitational pull, and a louche Naomi Watts leaning over a dinner table with an untied bowtie around her tux shirt collar was just…well nothing comes close.

What’s new

• Christopher John Rogers understands how to engineer joy into clothing. That spirit lands in his new Old Navy capsule in punchy, high-voltage combinations—green polka dots, buoyant florals, and drop-waist skirts that telegraph the designer’s ethos at prices as low as $24 (!)…. Kimora Lee Simmons appears in the campaign with her daughters Ming and Aoki. Plus, maximalists like Chloe King have already been spotted wearing the designs in the wild, which is likely why sizes are disappearing fast.

• Bag watch! Big schlepper edition: Gucci’s Paparazzo lands in medium and large, offered in logo canvas, black leather, and sandy suede, striking a hybrid slouchy-structured balance complete with both top handle and shoulder straps. Bottega Veneta’s Pinacoteca leans into versatility with a reversible Intrecciato calf leather build—flip it inside out and the suede lining can switch it up, especially in the midnight-to-basalt pairing. Tod’s reintroduces the Wave, folded and arched with a satisfying round edge; some colorways are charmingly misspelled to be made out of “lether,” but the real story is how material manipulation, not logos, carries the design (the SS26 orange iteration makes a convincing case).

• Consider this a Jil Sander translation of the Clarks Wallabee—newly installed creative director Simone Bellotti’s The Hood lace-up shoe arrives in sleek black leather with hand-stitched detailing that rewards a closer look. From afar, it reads straightforward; up close, the sole reveals a deep blue tint (rather mischievously).

• Zendaya and her image architect Law Roach deliver an exclusive collection with On that shifts On’s performance language into daywear: Studio knit leggings and bodysuits return in a heathered grey colorway, while the All Day ribbed tank and Bermuda shorts, when paired together, capture “showered at the gym effortlessly.”. The headline is the Cloudnova Moon sneaker, co-designed by Z and Roach, with a zig-zag strap and a low profile that reads especially well in fig.

• Batsheva’s first bridal offering exceeded expectations. Could this be the new de facto for the offbeat bride? The Arya dress channels an ’80s sensibility that clicks when paired with lace gloves, while the Edie leans into the brand’s signature volume with oversized ruffles that feel fresh and nostalgic at once Accessories lend f theatre: a pearl sash, an organza veil that could double as a duster, and even a diamond-on-ribbon choker.

• Since rebranding from G. Label, Gwyneth Paltrow and Creative Director Sofia Menassé have sharpened GWYN into something more self-assured, and the final drop from their SS26 collection really solidifies that. The remy short stands out as a reworked and refined cargo short, less clunky yet still functional; a hand-painted pink-and-red check enlivens the Chloe skirt.

• Danielle Frankel’s Collection XI gives us a bridal separates with conviction: the Palma wool satin jacket, cut high at the neck, pairs with a mermaid skirt that feels correct. There’s still the classic wedding glamour present in the Genevieve’s ball skirt, all sweep and movement. It’s a lineup for a contemporary bride who keeps her more specific style POV intact while nodding, just slightly, to tradition.

• Kinn’s new Family Legacy collection builds directly on the concept of heirlooms, reworked for contemporary wear. Lockets lead the charge, especially the Relic ribbed version designed to hold a small note. Many pieces can be engraved or set with birthstones, reinforcing the personal. Alongside them: pared-back pavé rings, pear-drop earrings, and classic gold oval lockets.

• There’s also: Everybody.World’s Soil “Trash” tees marking Earth Month—cut entirely from cotton waste, with proceeds rebuilding Altadena Community Garden, which feels like a T-shirt doing some actual work; Emmanuelle Khanh collabs with Tracee Ellis Ross on mask sunglasses and aviator opticals (bold, saturated, and impossible to ignore); Cou Cou’s Muse tank and Slip skirt now available in organic cotton jersey, a more city-ready take on the pointelle tank-and-skirt formula currently everywhere; Attersee’s Spring Vol. II, leaning into zipper detailing and a persuasive argument for espresso brown as a spring neutral (the Terenzi top says it all); Quince taps stylist Jamie Mizrahi to curate a selection of the brand’s best-value hits, from crisp cotton Oxfords to a striped linen strapless dress that reads more expensive than it is; and new in at Sezane: a classic straw bag, a cool straw bag, and a straw bag for your straw bag.

Men’s releases

• Grace Wales Bonner’s ongoing adidas collaboration continues to break new ground with the same damn sneaker (seriously, how?!). This season introduces fresh takes on the Karintha sneaker, including basket-woven and python-textured versions available for pre-order. Apparel holds its own: a floral football jersey and a sakura-pink track jacket bring a softer palette into sportswear territory.

• In this J. Press x Alex Mill collaboration, J.Press’s collegiate backbone meets Alex Mill’s easy proportions, and the result is a color playground: a full ROYGBIV of rugby shirts, with a black-and-purple stripe emerging as a chill-er favorite of the loud bunch, D-ring belts in a range of hues invite mix-and-match instincts. There’s also a cricket cable sweater in the mix, an Alex Mill V-neck that lands with notably clean proportions.

• Lemaire is, effectively, The Row for men in more ways that The Row is The Row for men. The latest Mr. Porter buy from the brand rewards customer loyalty: crisp cotton-twill trousers, the Quiver bag, and transitional outerwear like a denim trucker and a shell hooded jacket.

Home releases

• Known for her idiosyncratic vessels, ceramicist Simone Bodmer expands into full tableware, bringing that same oddball-organic sensibility to dinner plates and candleholders (in two heights). Alongside the launch, a repairs program with lacquer artist Yuko Gunji introduces kintsugi restoration, an open invitation for customers to keep broken pieces in circulation.

• Assembler I marks a new chapter for Athena Calderone’s New York studio, with a made-to-order furniture collection that covers a lot of interiors ground via an array of instant classics. A Japanese paper screen sits alongside mohair sofas with built-in shelving—functional, but also a bit movie-prop-you-want-in-your-house. Pricing is fittingly upon request.

• Jayson Home x Schumacher’s collaboration blends the latter’s prints with the former’s vintage sourcing instincts. The result: pieces like a leopard ottoman and a barley twist chair reupholstered in a hand-painted green textile that feel almost confrontational in their bombast.

• Think of this as a division of labor: Yamazaki handles the hardware, Public Goods supplies the formulas. Their newest collaboration pairs steel caddies, designed for faucets or storage closets, with refillable glass bottles and cleaning concentrates. Sold in sets, including cleaning and home essentials kits, it’s a system that looks sleek, while helping eliminate single use plastics.

A touch of High Touch

• Technogym’s new Sandstone collection swaps the gym’s typical black and anthracite for a desert-leaning palette of beige and warm brown, reframing workout gear as part of a designed room. The investment tier is steep (a Pilates reformer clocks in at $11,570, and the stair climber hits $25,550) but smaller entries like the personal dumbbells offer a more accessible way in.

• Compounded, subcutaneous wellness treatments are gaining traction through the GLP-1 boom, and Brello is expanding in that space with the addition of sermorelin. The peptide encourages the body’s natural production of human growth hormone to offset effects of aging skin, hair, and metabolic rates, rather than introducing synthetic HGH (what we know as “roids”) outright, a distinction that matters. As always, this sits firmly in consult-your-doc territory, but it reflects a broader shift toward individualized, clinic-adjacent wellness options.

What’s on sale

• Sephora’s spring savings event is officially here: Rouge members get 20% off, VIB 15%, and Insiders 10%, while Sephora Collection items hit a flat 30% off (the 12-hour waterproof retractable eyeliner is worth a look). Beyond that, it’s a practical moment to restock; Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant and Dieux’s Plump + Barrier Boost Kit are both on the shopping list.

• An extra 20% off the Net-A-Porter sale section with FLASH20 turns already-reduced pieces into something more urgent. A Dries van Noten brown denim jacket drops from $1,365 to $546 after the additional cut, Khaite’s Roza dress gets down to $662 from an original $1,380.

• Similarly, an extra 20% off orders over $350 encourages a bit of cart strategy at MyTheresa. Or, you can call it a day with The Row’s Liisa flats, already reduced to $612 from $1,020, which land at $489 with the added discount.

• Ganni’s private sale lays out its signature Scandi print-heavy identity, with discounts up to 50%. A leopard wax jacket drops from $825 to $495, while a tessellated-floral-print wrap dress lands at $272 from an original $545. It’s a broad selection that captures the brand’s more expressive side, now at a gentler price point.

• Vestiaire Collective’s biggest luxury sale of the year is live, with new listings appearing by the minute. The range spans pre-owned to bona fide vintage: a blue cotton blouse from The Row marked to $364 (before an additional 10% off) sits alongside an Alexander McQueen gown from the SS10 Plato’s Atlantis collection at $3,231—well under its typical $5–7K resale orbit. It’s a fast-moving field of finds, where archive means opportunity.

• Speaking of archive sales, Proenza Schouler’s includes runway pieces at 50–70% off. The Adriana leather skirt drops from $2,690 to $805, with bags part of the steep discounts as well. Long live the PS1 (and all its variants).

• At Bona Drag, ​​an additional 20% off with THURSDAY20 pushes already-reduced basics into highly reasonable territory. A Gil Rodriguez tube top drops to $33 (!), while a Beaufille maxi skirt lands at $196 (20% off included). The strength here is in well-made basics.

1. The Row

A new mini Row bag, even defying It-dom at the level of a Margaux or Marlo, will always cause sufficient Richter register to land in Brand Rank’s top five. A slew of February new arrivals included the now-sold-out Terrasse To-Go Bag—a neotenically proportioned version of the past-season Terrasse shoulder bag revived for SS26, which promptly sold out and now cameos on resale sites (the short-strapped Bauletto version is still findable).

The next-clickiest news was of The Row’s Mon Vintage edit, a price-upon-request archive curated by founder of the private vintage showroom Marie Blanchet, featuring rare Yohji Yamamoto and Margiela pieces the Olsens have openly cited as design touchstones. The curation either sold out or was retired to make way for the current Thomsen Gallery exhibition, featuring selected woven vessels, and a collaboration with Desert Vintage, feat. sourced Fortuny, Zoran, and other unknowns.

2. Khaite

Dozens of Khaite-centric conversations fizzed up in the chat this season (it was the most talked-about brand), most of them focused on its season-in, season-out boots. A sampling of mentioned styles: the Nevada stretch ankle boot, the Ona crinkled knee boot, the Davis leather knee high, the Hooper over-the-knee, the Colt glossed-leather riding boot. Denim was the next most-talked-about category, with multiple mentions of the Abigail jean (available in at least seven washes) and the Karo barrel leg.

From Magasin’s published content, the arrival of the cropped Balser cardigan threatened to replicate the virality off the OG (also chatted-about) Scarlet cardigan—and outfit inclusions brought last year’s Lotus pendant and Verda V-neck pique dress back in the rotation.

3. Phoebe Philo

Collection D hit ecomm this January, with drops happening in February and March, making it the most-clicked overall brand of the season—a scrunchie-waisted coat earned the most clicks from all the new-in, followed by angular sunglasses. But my own styled-out pieces from the brand topped even those: trusty high-throat ballerina flats AND the merlot leather bomber I bought at Dover Street in Paris (don’t ask me about my detax paperwork for that…).

An interesting tracking thing to note: Phoebe’s standing on this BR is based on data from before the brand’s arrival to MyTheresa this month—between that and Collection E arriving in June, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it finally strike #1 by our summer edition.

4. Toteme

Toteme’s perennial nature means that the sale that lurched the brand to fourth place this season contained pieces with as much appeal and relevance as its latest arrivals. The sale’s now over, but discounts on SSENSE, The Outnet, FWRD, Saks, etc. gel with or even supplant new-in pieces from its SS26 collection for the price-aware shopper—a just-released contrast-trim version of its staple bucket bag, or a lizard-embossed one of the same shape for $300 less? Cotton-viscose trouser new arrivals, or a linen-blend for 70% off? It’s a game of spot the difference where the answer is quite the deal.

5. Uniqlo

Clare Waight Keller’s Uniqlo: C collection was a volume play this season, during which $50 khaki culottes and a $40 drawstring bag were some of the top sellers. This quarter’s data didn’t include drops from the usual needle-movers, the U (from the Lemaire team) and JW Anderson collaborations, showcasing C’s standalone might in driving sales, perhaps finally staking out its rightful place in the Uniqlo Mount Rushmore of nicely priced designer capsules.

6. Lemaire

Speaking of Lemaire, mainline also cracked Rank, just a point shy of Uniqlo. The bulk of its standing came from chat mentions, which turned out some good shopping gossip, including shopping Antonioli and Jake & Jones for hard-to-source pieces, going half a size down in its shoes, and its Vibram-sole sneakers making good biking gear.

7. Prada

We’re never not hustling when it comes to Prada. Chat mentions around the brand center on resale and vintage (as far back as the 1995 collection), suggesting dupes (this Róhe leather versus the $7,900 Prada one) and protecting our investments by seeking repair recommendations (for shoes, Jim’s Shoe Repair comes cosigned).

8. COS

The sales data speaks for COS this season, over which scores of suede pants, sculptural tops, and suspiciously cerulean blue sweaters escaped into carts as the brand staged a runway show in Seoul. During the once-mall brand’s High Fashion moment, we have to ask, does the devil actually wear COS?

9. J.Crew

J.Crew was guaranteed to rank this season on the power of its 1988 Edition Rollneck sweater alone. The re-issue of the iconic knit, plus a suite of designer collabs with Eckhaus Latta, Collina Strada, Tanner Fletcher, and more, became socially ubiquitous, while old Magasin favorites like the Gwen slip skirt and Fair Isle cardigan did heavy background work.

10. Chanel

Blazy-mania brought the most hardcore shoppers out from Paris to New York, where the new CD’s first collection hit stores over March. I went in on opening day in search of the canvas version of the Small Shopping Bag, only to learn the sourcers had all gotten there first. Even the pony hair slingbacks and slides, which I wavered on, would disappear from shelves within days. Safe to say we’ve entered a post-patent leather opera flat era? (If you’re still hunting down a good dupe, Toteme just put one out.)

Welcome back to Brand Rank! I managed to make it through the writing of today’s send only ordering two things: a pair of vintage Levi’s 503b jeans, seeing that there was a rare pair in my size up on eBay and, while not on this list, a linen top from the Tove archive sale that I happened to stumble into when searching my inbox for unrelated info. This list is about shoppability, and here are two data points that would contribute to a brand’s score.

Today, in the first of two sends, we look at brands 11 through 20 on the list.

Methodology

To learn more about how Brand Rank gets built, you can find a full explainer here. In short, we assess every instance of brand engagement. Our weighted system determines—out of the 5,000+ brands that ranked—which 20 are most in-demand among Magasin’s tens of thousands of subscribers.

Across the first quarter of 2026, 480 brands were mentioned in the chat 1,217 times. Magasin itself wrote about 560 brands in 1,307 instances. 1,914 orders over the period spanned 214 brands. And the top 324 brands were responsible for driving 386,839 clicks. That’s an average of nearly 1,193 clicks per brand.

11. Gap

Remember the utopia of Gap Body in the ‘90s? As, like, a freshly showered and optimistic counterpoint to the Victoria’s Secret cleavage pressed up against store windows? According to our data, it’s back. The Breathe Bikini and Thong, re-upped in our renewed underwear deep dive, have been trending in this ranking since the original investigation was published in 2024. Now, a significant portion of Magasin chat dialogue centers on other Gap intimates and loungewear—the wireless bra from the Breathe collection, the organic stretch cotton bralette, its sweatpants and fleece pajamas, “not sloppy” loungewear, “the best tee for $20,” long-sleeve tees, satin track pants that look like Donni ones…

12. Comme Si

Comme Si’s La Shirt Classica was listed as my third most-worn item of 2025 in this inaugural assessment of Staying Power. It was also the third most-clicked link of the entire spring season of Magasin. I own this shirt in Grecian Blue, White, Maraschino, and in Gray Flannel, and most recently added in La Boxer Alta pant version in Navy. I suspect it will be on the next year-end Staying Power list, alongside another coming-soon staple I’m very excited about, but not enough to break embargo. More on that this week.

13. Jamie Haller

One thing that keeps Jamie Haller consistently on this list is the unpredictability of its launches and sales. Jamie plays a game of “First dibs,” where being in her inner circle pays off with early access to a heavily discounted archive (as happened back in January) and sporadic product drops—just this week, she’s leaked the new Scrunchie Heel in black and butter, a recreation of a 1970s sandal née The Archive Heel, and the seemingly Laura Dern-inspired Big Shirt and Pleat Short, AND she’s announced re-stocks of The Walking Sandal, The Kit Slide, The Clog, The Freddie Jean, and The Karate Pant. Some of these are, predictably, out of stock yet again.

14. Alex Mill

Alex Mill had a busy season (when doesn’t it?) with closely timed drops, starting with the Alex Rollneck of FW25 all the way through to the best-seller Chiltern Jacket of SS26 Chapter 1. We’ve now reached Chapter 3, relevant to my own wishlist as far as these cotton-linen chinos and this sort of designer-looking (you know the one) straw tote go.

15. Tory Burch

For spring: Tory Burch’s increasingly 1940s-coded designs—e.g. T-bar heels, drop waists, blazers a certain shade of blue—revisited through a contemporary lens that the culture owes largely to Lotta Volkova (the girlhood factor). But what’s on the new-in pages doesn’t always track with the carts over a season of shopping data. The real accessory story being told by the bags and shoes that most impacted Tory’s Brand Rank score, is louche, boho, a little model-off-duty, a little retrograde even! Some Tory collections are more forward-driving than others, but it looks like Q1 was one for the stalwarts.

16. Nour Hammour

The winter of 2026 will always be remembered as the one when everyone bought their Nour Hammour coat. I somehow ended the season with four of them: the Elsa and Isadora shearlings, the Gallery suede, and the Parlor leather. “Fur season” is over, but I can see spring-summer elasticity in the latest collection (good blazer) and the coming expansion into new categories.

17. Leset

Chat queen, clearly, with nearly half its score deriving from subscriber convos. Recommendations for the brand were in the loungewear catchall, with some specific callouts for the Kyoto Pants, the Lauren Wide-Leg Pants, and the Layered Margo Tee.

18. Simone Pérèle

Re-examining my underwear drawer made me realize how few bra and underwear makers I tolerate anymore since discovering Simone Pérèle—its Essentiel t-shirt bra and Comete mesh triangle did for those categories what no bra had come close to doing before. I don’t waste a single second on my bra wishlist anymore. And! In the months since publishing that update, I’ve expanded further into the equally rewarding underwear department and added the Plume bra (possibly the greatest ever no-show lacy nude bra).

19. Gucci

During Q1, Demna’s first collection for Gucci became officially available to shop, six-ish months after a teaser where pieces cropped up at select boutiques around the world (I bought my Vittoria heels—my favorites since—in this window). Gucci also went ahead and kind of half-assed a repeat of that experiment with spare parts from the follow-up FW26 show…leggings (?), a plain black jacket, not really any accessories to speak of…and then didn’t really promote the see-now-buy-now happening in any way. Even the SA I spoke to thought it (and the pieces) were weird. Still, gave us something to talk about over at Magasin at least.

20. Levi’s

My vintage Levi’s 503b jeans, which I awarded 100% Staying Power in my 100 most-worns of 2025, were the top-clicked link this season by a lot. There is nothing like finding a pair of jeans that render every other pair you own moot, which was exactly my experience when I bought these at Front General Store in Dumbo in 2024. I used to think I was a 550s girl, but since discovering the 503b—a youth model of the 501XX—I don’t think they come close.

I dress a little bit differently if I’m heading into the city (Manhattan, to non-New Yorkers) or sticking around in Brooklyn. I tend to gear up when going westward: patent boots, layering, my laptop bag. Locally, I can be soft. Here, I can give in to the urge to appropriate my indoor clothes for outdoor use; my favorite way to walk out the door.

I think about this approach as 1. weirdly a COVID thing (lots of half-baked dressing up in the mirror) and 2. very Loro Piana. My gentle, easy, lovingly amassed lounge-y pieces, organically arriving at an outfit with the introduction of a little heel or an intentional leather flat.

I went to a dinner for Ginori 1735’s new Florenza collection last night, which felt like a pre-Salone mixer for design types and fashion people with wandering eyes.

My mind has been consumed by all things longevity lately in advance of High Touch’s launch, so it was nice to get dressed up (I wore a new-to-me Andrew Marc leather jacket from The RealReal—sold one to years ago and never stopped regretting it, had to rebuy! wrote all about the brand here) and talk about good-looking objects. tells me he’s yet to be floored by anything at Milan’s design fair crossing his inbox, but remains cautiously optimistic about what’s to come.

We’ll both be there, pounding the marciapiede (that’s pavement to you) in search of good shopping intel. See you all in Milan in a couple weeks!

What’s new

• Burnt orange is the leading lady in the first drop from Saint Laurent’s SS26, culminating in a $33,000 ruffled nylon gown that resembles a melted popsicle. For something less theatrical, the button-back nylon dress lands in a rouge-orange that feels wearable but still pointed. With the oversized, gummy bear-rimmed mask sunglasses (the more consumer-friendly, sub-$600 way in) and Anthony Vaccarello’s palette of poppy, bright sheers for summer comes into focus.

• Stay off Reddit unless you want The Drama spoiled for you. Emily Dawn Long joined forces with A24 for some limited merch for the movie, to the tune of a 60-piece run of graphic-printed hand-selected vintage tees (they sold out in 30 minutes, crashing the A24 site on the way). The good news is; there are still some The Drama-printed graphic hats available both on A24’s merch site and in her NYC studio, if that’s local to you.

• Toteme opens the gates to SS26 to anyone who creates an account, offering early access to a short run of neutrals. The lineup is distinctly “Langian,” you could say—layered tanks that pair a crinkled knit over a compact base, evoking Helmut-era precision without drifting into imitation territory. Studded leather slides bridge errands and spa runs, especially in the Sienna brown.

• Pierpalo pulls a Demna with a limited run of Balenciaga Winter ‘26 pieces available for purchase online and at a few boutiques, just for now. Per the release: “The collection unveils new artwork inspired by the Euphoria TV series universe (!!!!!), showcased across ready-to-wear and leather bags.” Emphasis MINE.

• Delicate materials take form in Chloné, La Collection’s SS26 offering, new outcomes of the brand’s Art Nouveau-meets-Antwerp-minimalism signature. A cape dress in a jute-viscose-silk blend lends itself soft and structured—maybe for a daring bride?—while the pillbox-style Tahia hat draws from the turban pillbox styles of the 1920s but could be killer with a pair of jeans. Off-white crepe silk tops paired with matching trousers reads like a portable Caribbean vacation, minus the airfare.

• A substantial drop of Marc Jacobs SS26 runway is now live exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman, bringing those puffed skirts and padded peplums into real-world rotation. Jacobs continues his oversized, doll-like proportions, we’ll call it deliberately surreal. For something more adaptable, the padded mohair sweater offers a toned-down entry point into the same exaggerated vocabulary.

• There’s, like, hella new Prada in. The deep-V cashmere sweater from the SS26 runway has arrived, primed for layering over a crepe de chine top and offset by poplin short-shorts in a cyclamen purple that leans delightfully sporty. The overall effect is that tad offbeat and quintessentially “fashion” Prada, the preferred timbre for any kind of transitional dressing.

• The first of the season’s swimwear is arriving and it looks like a pastel cantaloupe melon glacé shade is the way to go, regardless of your tan. Eres offers full-coverage options like the high-waisted Cycle bottom with the Float top, alongside sparer combinations like Dive bottom and Bloom top, still with the same graphic square hardware details. Triangle bikinis and one-pieces round things out, all interchangeable while remaining sexy-adaptable like all good swimwear does.

• The Biebers are now an item on the shelf with rhode’s latest collaboration with thee JB. Three new products lead the drop: Spotwear hydrocolloid patches (with a typo worth spotting on the landing page), banana peel–styled peptide eye prep, and a caramelized banana lip treatment. It’s merch-adjacent beauty as well as a celebration of love; we guess JB is a big banana fan.

• In other High Touch-y celebrity beauty brand news…Kylie Jenner announces k2o, an “advanced skin hydration formula” (it’s electrolytes) created in partnership with Sprinter. Available in three flavors—strawberry lychee, peach, and watermelon lime—the hydration packets come formulated with ingredients like bioactive collagen peptides and hyaluronic acid to help skin bounce back on a cellular level.Truly no different than your average LMNT packet, but worth noting the increasing pivot to systemic beauty systems over, say, a certain lip kit.

• It’s the Pilates of it all, says extreme cashmere’s “studio cut”, a capsule collection of pieces designed for studio transitions that feel less Lulu-Alo and more ‘80s grey sweats. The ramble biker shorts and stretch shorts invite tonal stacking, while the oversized Havana tee, with a hem length somewhere rather interestingly between dress and top, serves as the perfect cotton-cashmere blend pump cover. The xtra cute cardigan stands out as an easy throw-on for early classes or post-mat errands.

• There’s also: Leset’s April collection doubling down on co-ords—matching sets that add a new glamour to “out the door in five”; Athena Club x Charlie Beads pairing bloomers with scent trios in a playful color-synced experiment; Diffar’s perfumed hair oils, a Japanese fragrance brand finally letting strands carry the same scent story as skin (with some added gloss); Acqua di Parma’s Buongiorno collection marking 10 years with a new cedarwood and white musk-based range; Gabriela Hearst x Adam Pendleton reworking the Nina bag in black-and-white ink motifs—collector-minded, but not too-too precious; and a vacation-ready and print-heavy drop from curated-vintage shop The New Studio (it’s going fast, so eyes peeled).

Men’s releases

• A men’s athleisure moment fit for tennis fans, super chill guys, and everyone in between comes in the form of the Uniqlo x Roger Federer SS26 collection. The quarter-zip polo, made with recycled materials, handles sweat at a professional level and pairs cleanly with ultra stretch shorts in a vivid green reminiscent of Windows 95. A 3D knit long-sleeve polo adds dimension—slightly bulked, but still easygoing.

Home releases

• Pam’s in her Martha era. Olive Ateliers brings Pamela Anderson into the interiors space with The Sentimentalist, a romantic collection of rattan and teak pieces marketed toward those who, like her, love their home to reflect their furniture soft-spots. Many ways in, from a $25 rattan coaster set to a $3,495 greenhouse dining table.

• Maiden Home’s SS26 is essentially Star Wars furniture for someone deeply invested in design—this said with an eye towards the franchise’s revolutionary-for-its-time design sensibility. The Petra bed appears to hover, like something out of Padmé Amidala’s private quarters, while the fragment coffee table leans into asymmetry with a hand-molded form crafted in Rome. It’s futuristic yet organic-feeling, something very of-this-world for your home.

• Tomato-mania is still alive and well at Maison Louis Marie. Liane de Tomate blends a mossy vetiver and patchouli base with tomato vine at its core, lifted by clove and verbena. The result is herbaceous and bright—less kitchen, more garden at peak season.

A touch of High Touch

• GLP-1s are now available in Wegovy pill form, offering an alternative for those wary of injections while exploring weight loss (or other off-label uses). Through Hers, pricing begins at $149 a month depending on dosage, alongside a matching subscription for concierge-style care. Some debate as to whether it’s as effective as the shot, but certainly preferable to the needle-averse who don’t mind taking a pill daily.

• You can microdose shrooms, THC, and now compounded semaglutide. Eden’s newly rolled-out approach leans toward smaller, adjustable dosing for those sensitive to side effects or looking to reap benefits other than weight loss: inflammation support, heart and metabolic health, PCOS options . The broader takeaway: GLP-1 usage remains highly individual, best navigated with both a telehealth platform’s online support and guidance from a primary care provider.

• There’s also: Mendora’s skin repair formula, a physician-developed powder food supplement geared toward faster bounce-back after workouts, long weeks, or anything taxing; ZO Skin’s health growth factor topical serum relaunch, a long-circulated favorite built on lab-made growth factors for firmer, smoother skin; and ILIA stepping into standalone SPF for the first time, adding to its complexion lineup a dedicated layer of sun defense.

• Kallmeyer adds fresh pieces to its sale section, with most discounts hovering around 30% off. Highlights include the Eloise Liquid Mini Dress, as seen on Zoe Kravitz and Shailene Woodley (Danielle Goldberg stans), the Sutton pleated skirt in viscose cady, now $410 from $585, and the Esme tuxedo shirt in pink stretch poplin. Overall: solid pass at spring dressing.

• A 30% off closeout sale on Louise Roe’s lineup of vases and vessels at Batten Home. The balloon vase, now $239 from $342, offers a softly rounded silhouette that pairs well with early spring seasonal bouquets.

• Alice Lane’s “Very Best Sale” event takes 20% off a wide range of exclusives and J. Bennett designs. The strategy to shop this deal leans toward larger investments (like the Brooklyn Nightstand in walnut, now $2,252 from $2,815) where discounts are less common and more impactful.

A higher, more variable heart rate is actually a signifier of good cardiovascular fitness (High Touch, coming soon), so thank you, Phoebe Philo, for getting that thang pulsing in my chest this week. The coy Brit’s line, long limited for purchase via D2C or in person at select retailers like Dover Street Market and Bergdorf’s, is now—suddenly—available online at Mytheresa.

This is a big deal for shoppers after 2.5 years of a meh online shopping experience (unpredictable shipping times, frustrating return processes) who finally have the security and ease of one of the last-standing ecommerce giants managing the process. It’s also no small buy: 176 products are listed, including my big-shouldered, burgundy leather jacket that I had to travel to Paris to secure (and which looks priced at about what I paid for it there), game-ending loafers, the baby sling bean bag that’s only $1,250…seemingly all of it, really.

I used to make a hobby of spotting the various off-price European sites that’d gotten ahold of past-season Phoebe product through breach of some other store’s contract (the Italists and Cettires), but basically, the collection is actually gettable now. I would presume the MyT rollout is the first of at least a few e-tailer partnerships coming. Net is probably next. Would make sense to be at Bergdorf’s online (if they’re not kaput by then). The landscape’s pretty barren, but maybe…Nordstrom? or 24S? after that. Collection E arrives this June, and will most likely hit Phoebe’s own .com first, but in the meantime, there’s a $22,000 leather jacket, a $450 card holder, and everything in between to discover at Mytheresa.com.

What’s new

• Any Alex Mill mention here, no matter how buried (like the Perfect Daily Tote launch from earlier this month), ends up among the top-clicked links. Clearly there’s a healthy appetite for great basics and adorably petite yet confusingly roomy canvas bags! Spring Chapter 3 launches today, pure catnip for Magasin types that includes The Hudson Pant in Linen—excellent spring-t-shirt-and-Jo-Button-Down-uniform fodder—the lauded Chiltern Waxed Jacket in new colors, and the men’s Painter Pant, now in faded cypress. It’s also always nice to see the pieces come alive on the brand’s IG, a solid mix of styling inspo, familiar faces, dogs, etc.

• COS staged an see-now-buy-now SS26 show in Seoul with a collection that folds in subtle references to Korean dress, including an exaggerated funnel-neck top that almost gives…choker (we love it)? Tailoring keeps up with a shawl-collar blazer, matching trouser, and rounded shirt for a modified-three-piece situation with ample styling opportunities. The cylinder clutch lands as a thesis piece—trend-aware, and edited toward the COS-comes-with-ease expectation we consumers have.

• Still Here’s SS26 lookbook had us barking at our screens—no one is doing it (it being ease, cool, lo-fi with polish, guaranteed to be pinched by bigger names) like this team. Come direct a shoot for Magasin, Sonia! The brand’s raved-about denim arrives in unexpected tones—pink and burnt orange—alongside easy cut-offs that hit a sweet spot between hot pant and skater jort. The Kelly skirt and snap tank invite either monochrome or mix-match pairing, dare we say even a tad space age?

• Kallmeyer’s SS26 arrival reconfirms the NYC label’s early and lasting standing in the knowing woman’s wardrobe. Some obvious buys: The Tillda jacket with the Clemence waffle-weave pant reads like a complete spring uniform, while the Naia draped top taps into the industry-wide cropped-but-voluminous trend now gaining traction off-runway. Poppy purple and red—especially in the Lennon tee—keep things sharp without skewing too kooky, which is exactly why we love Kallmeyer so.

• The SS26 runway collection from Tory Burch has landed, reminding us of those brilliant lavender and red pairings (this oversized silk polo with a leather skirt combo is so delicious). Occasionwear leans into early 20th-century references, particularly in the embellished mesh dress, while crinkled viscose separates keep things current with the more intentionally-creased textile.

• Métier’s Spring II release rolls out a banger mini version of its better-than-Birkin Private Eye tote. The small size is catnip for collectors of downscaled Mid-century furniture or Labubus. An adorable, brain-breaking reproportion of a known favorite that appears to be a franchising move on a best-seller in the same way that The Row scaled up and down its Margeauxs and Marlos.

• Rohe’s second drop for SS26 is all about the nothings we wear through summer. Glorified PJs (this flippy-edged pointelle top), an open-back crushed top offering a compelling alternative to more literal apron references (yes, I am talking about the Miu Miu ones), poplin crop pants that just gooooo. It’s all nice versions of the stuff you throw on to run a quick errand on a 75º Friday and like better than your most on-purpose pieces.

• A strong showing of mid-price bags arrives this season with an emphasis on circles; rivets, architecture, you name it. Mansur Gavriel’s mini gnocchi curves into the body with a compact hobo shape, Eckhaus Latta’s bum bag introduces a bicycle-seat silhouette featuring the same stud details as the Snap bag, and KkCo’s rivet bag brings a structured base that seems engineered for balancing on one leg while sitting in transit.

• A new swimwear entrant, Pech World, debuts with prints by Spencer Malinski, formerly of Tory Burch. The offering is concise: a triangle top and two high-cut bottoms, one Brazilian-leaning and one closer to ‘80s French-cut underwear. It’s a focused start, built around long lines, pop-prints (the Palma is stunning), and fit.

• There’s also: Old Stone Trade’s taffeta chrysanthemum corsage extending the brooch’s tenure as our accessory-du-season; Dorsey’s SS26 rings, where emerald-cut lab-grown eternity bands dominate; Flore Flore’s expanding cotton canon in new colorways Lime, Mouse, Baby Blue, and Crocus—especially the May cami, arriving right on cue for transitional layering; Jamie Haller’s San Diego sandal in olive metallic (reminder that metallics have their own palette of neutrals); Karla Welch’s new SPANX tees, bringing a career’s worth of t-shirt experience to designing the “perfect” one; and Le Monde Beryl’s Dakota kitten heel, an elegant d’orsay with just enough lift to register satisfying ‘click’ on pavement.

Men’s releases

• Stòffa’s Collection II continues to build from textile outward. Silk anchors the lineup, from a double-breasted shirt jacket and wide pleat trouser in silk mohair twill to a washed linen blouson that leans more casual. The result is clothing that follows the body rather than imposing on it, which is basically like a menswear version of bias-cutting (who’da thunk it?).

• Wallace & Barnes’ limited-edition release with J.Crew draws from vintage uniforms bypassing the usual Carhartt-dirtbag references. A bright warbler chore jacket leads the pack, alongside a plaid workshirt and chino pairing that feels just as tailored as durable. And yes—raw selvedge denim at J.Crew. Japan’s influence continues to travel well.

Home releases

• Emma Chamberlain’s collaboration with West Elm translates her oddball sensibility into a full home capsule, from embroidered pillow covers to button-accented tables and steel coffee pieces. There’s a throughline of playful detail, carried from those smaller decor pieces into a modular sofa that feels both special enough to be vintage, and sturdy enough to not need a gut-reupholster.

• Decor is really “on the grid,” so to speak, especially with the return of Rimowa’s classic grid luggage, recalling a distinctly ’70s pattern language. Aluminum-heads will legitimately go crazy for this one, effectively a rarer / more interesting to look at version of the universally recognized grooved metal luggage. The cabin size in particular feels like the right scale to showcase the design in transit.

• Joshi / Greene’s Office Light offers a compelling desk-side object in hand-formed aluminum, delivering a warm, patterned glow through hypnotic, all-sided laser cut squares.

• There’s also: McGrath’s limited-edition candle with Costa Brazil, steeped in that signature vetiver-forward scent; and Desmond & Dempsey’s collaboration with Ash Hotels, celebrating the Shenandoah Mansions opening in Richmond with a lineup of printed robes and pajamas that land somewhere between haute hotel gift shop and collector-worthy souvenir.

What’s on sale

• These Gianvito Rossi beaded heels have stuck around on my wishlist for long enough (5+ months) to have achieved “The”-ness when I come across them now: The Gianvito sandals. They appeared again on SSENSE’s new-in pages, which I was scrolling with more intensity than usual, having learned of the site’s recent eligibility for credit back on the deeply relevant-to-me shopping app Croissant. I browse with the Croissant extension, which tells me I can earn 10% in shopping credit, so, $119 if I buy The Gianvito sandals that I can spend at SSENSE, Nordstrom, Saks, Altuzarra, By Far, etc. For those familiar with Croissant’s game, I’ll add that even though I’m getting credit, my purchase would still be up for a buyback—a guaranteed purchase price offered by Croissant itself should I ever choose to part with Them. (Though, after all this pining, that time would likely be: Never!)

• Welcome to the Nordstrom End of Season Sale, where discounts are still populating but already worth a look. Sneakers lead the charge, including waterproof Salomons and Adidas Tokyos, alongside scattered designer finds like Dries van Noten trousers. It’s a broad mix, with the strongest hits appearing at present in footwear and transitional pieces.

• A rare Amazon mention today, on occasion of the site’s “Big Spring Deals” sale that creeps into the premium beauty we and our circles actually buy. T3 hair tools like the single-pass curling iron are seeing up to 25% off, Cadence capsule sets drop into more accessible territory (20% off the daily set, for example), and Timeline’s line of longevity products includes significant cuts across supplements (40% off) and skincare (50% off) alike.

• Phaidon’s Spring Refresh Sale offers 30% off select books and prints for the aspiring Arrangers of Things among you not named Colin King. Titles like Making Space: Women in Interior Design bring new perspectives to the shelf, while limited-edition prints—like this one by Nicolas Party—offer an easy shift for walls in need of some spring change.

First up…

• Patterson Flynn and Charlap Hyman Herrero launched another collection of incredible animalistic woven rugs this week (we have one from their first run of a crocodile and it’s a prized possession). They've gotten even better in my opinion!

• In other rug news, Christopher Farr brought on Rafael Prieto to create a line of rugs depicting swimming pools, which are also present in his new Mexico City guesthouse, which opened during Zona Maco this year (above).

• The Irish furniture brand Orior hosted a St. Patrick’s day dinner in their Soho showroom. The furniture on display was, of course, beautiful, but I learned that they are also involved in a small empire of enterprises, either by direct ownership or investment, which include lighting, jewelry, and the co-working brand The Malin.

• Earlier this month, just about every design-related person turned up to see Colin King’s Zara collection (I was impressed by the woven metal baskets) and then subsequently to attend a 100th birthday party for Verner Panton, hosted by Louis Poulsen and For Scale. At that party, we were invited to sticker several LP lamps — I feel I did my design duty by removing a few.

• On a recent showroom visit, I discovered (and now need) the silver travel coffee mug with straw from Cristofle.

What kind of bedrooms do artists dream of?

The bedroom is a fundamentally private chamber that, over time, has become less of a site of sleep than it is a stage for interior life. If the kitchen was broadcast outward in the late 20th century, the bedroom remains a largely inward-looking space.

Bedrooms are endowed with a subtle but complicated responsibility: They are expected to soothe and seduce, to restore and to transport. Like our lives, our bedrooms are expected to be both deeply idiosyncratic and yet increasingly orderly and tidy. They are asked to hold not just the body at rest, but the mind in drift; there is a bed, yes, but also necessary literal and symbolic repositories for memory, fantasy, and the tactile traces of a life lived elsewhere (not to mention our clothes, accessories, and other random, practical things needed for daily life). And yet, bedrooms are rarely the kind of space that truly dissolves the boundary between waking and dreaming.

To access that more elusive register, I turned not to designers, but to artists whose practices already operate in that liminal zone. Artists are attuned to reverie, materiality, and the strange logic of memory. I posed a simple question: What is your dream bedroom? The responses resisted coherence. They arrived as fragments, atmospheres, gestures—a scent, a remembered light, a bed that feels less like furniture than sculpture. As with any true dream, there was no stable image to render, no single perspective to fix. Instead, I translated each into a sketch, guided as much by intuition as by description, attempting to give form to spaces that, by their nature, resist being fully seen.

R.F. Alvarez

The Texas-based artist is known for his emotionally charged figurative paintings that combine seductive queer scenes with raw, tactile surfaces (which you can see at Megan Mulrooney Gallery in LA).

On his dream bedroom: A good bedroom feels like a secret. I think the bedroom should have its own color—something immersive and different from the rest of the house, something you bathe in as you enter it. It should have windows that can open up and let in fresh air in the morning. I like windows that face east so that you are confronted with the day as it arrives. A good bedroom has a small desk—a place where you can wake up in the middle of the night to write down ideas, or where you can escape to when you want to be alone. I think a good bedroom also has books on the floor, ones you can pick up and flip through before bed. And of course, art. Paintings, posters, photographs. Things that you can linger on as you nod off.

What to buy for it: Nordic Knots curtains (in a rich color), an 18th century hand-painted hanging corner cabinet, a Texas Star terracotta planter.

Pauline de Roussy de Sales

Pauline’s riotously playful work depicts global scenes of glamour and gaiety with intensely detailed compositions of singular style.

On her dream bedroom: My ideal bedroom would be airy and open, yet also warm and cozy. There would be a mix of southwestern hacienda-style architecture with classic 18th century French furniture. The room would be filled with fantastical objects and curios, treasures collected from travels, and furnishing sourced from antiques markets and online vintage sites.

What to buy for it: A pair of Staffordshire porcelain dogs, a rattan table lamp, a pair of Louis XV-style cabriolet armchairs in pink velvet, and an English-style barley twist etagere. (You can also include Pauline’s work in your space via her lovely collaboration with Tulip Shades.)

Andie Dinkin

Andie’s brilliant paintings and drawings are mysterious and surreal, combining a dizzying array of references and characters to create richly hued dreamscapes. Her solo show, “In the Spirit World,” is currently on view at Charles Moffett Gallery.

On her dream bedroom: It’s feminine and bright, with an ocean breeze coming through a big window. I like to decorate with finds from estate sales and flea markets, and I’d hang art created by my friends on the walls. The room is colorful, with lots of textiles and plants. I’d have a dressing table with a mirror, as well as a place to display my collection of antique perfume bottles.

What to buy for it: A lemon silk upholstered footstool, an antique adjustable desk lamp, a vintage 1970s Wedgwood cream-on-black tray, and a classic Hermès ashtray. (Check out Andie’s amazing collaboration with designer Beata Heuman—a custom woven ottoman based on one of her paintings.)

Thomas Barger

Thomas’s sculptural practice is a layered inquiry—emotional, intellectual, and spiritual—anchored in technical discipline, storytelling, and a subtle sense of wit.

On his dream bedroom: My ideal bedroom makes me think of watching movies like Under the Tuscan Sun or The Notebook in my parents’ bedroom with my hands on the remote, just in case they walked in. These movies were formative for me and still are part of my dream bedroom life: In The Notebook, after all, Noah fixes up an old house for Allie with a studio next to the bedroom. (And in Under the Tuscan Sun, Frances fixes up an old house and in the process falls in love again.) I love these stories about creating beautiful homes with a can-do attitude. My ideal bedroom would be an old dump of a house in the country that I fix up—most likely not in NYC.

What to buy for it: A vintage quilt as a wall hanging from @catsonquilt, the Samsung Serif TV on a stand (yes, he believes in a TV in the bedroom), a 1930s multicolor oval American braided rug.

Gigi Ettedgui

Painter Gigi Ettedgui’s work unfolds as an intuitive exploration of memory, material, and gesture—where layered surfaces and a sensitivity to composition converge into works that feel both immediate and deeply considered. You can see her work at two upcoming shows this spring, one at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge opening in April, and another at 15 Bateman Street in London, opening in June.

On her dream bedroom: I find Jean-Michel Frank’s bedroom on the Rue de Verneuil in Paris astoundingly beautiful. For me, it shows true style and vision, and the creativity with which you can recreate the same space forever. I adore François Catroux'’s Paris bedroom, the juxtaposition is so powerful between the simple and the decorative to create a truly sophisticated, stylish and sexy bedroom. My bedroom in Paris is painted a pink that feels welcoming and feminine, and a window looks out onto a beautiful blossoming tree in my courtyard. The room is eclectic, but I am still fond of it as it reminds me of being a Parisian girl in my twenties. And I love the romance of the Jim Dine hearts above my bed, given to me by my parents.

What to buy for it: An early 19th century artist’s table, a classic wooden artist’s easel (even if realistically, there can be no painting in the bedroom), Connolly cashmere and velvet bedroom slippers, and a Greek rescue dog on the bed.

The Directory — TV Design Solutions

Thomas’s comment about TVs in the bedroom got me thinking about how to display TVs in general. This is less a directory than a list of ideas for how to incorporate the pesky black rectangle into your interior.

TV covers

At Ash, we create custom fabric coverlets for the TVs in the guestroom, generally from the same fabric as the curtains or bedhangings. I still think this is a nice way to soften a wall mounted TV. Your local tailor will be able to make this for you, or you can order one of the many options on Etsy. You can also just throw some fabric over it.

TV Stands

I personally don’t love the idea of a wall mounted TV, so I think a stand can help make a TV feel more intentional and less like it’s floating. My TV is a discontinued LG model with a built-in stand. The Samsung Serif also has a built-in stand, but you can also buy nice-looking stands from places like the Finnish Design Shop, Industrial Konzept, (another option here), or Etsy.

Cabinets

You can always do as the English do and shove your TV inside a cabinet where you can close the doors. There aren’t a lot of ready-made nice options for this out there (an exception being this one from Ballard Designs), but I have seen people successfully convert an antique hutch or wardrobe to accommodate a TV.

Folding Screen

I used to hide the TV behind a folding screen that I’d painted a sky on. It was sort of annoying to move it all the time, but it looked nice when I had people over (I’ve noticed that even when it’s off, people still stare at a TV screen). The good news is there are plenty of beautiful folding screens and dividers available online.

Last up…

To start, some sad news: After two years, this will be the final installment of my Magasin column. Doing this work with Laura completely changed my life: Not only did I gain dream-like access to the heart of this industry, but over time, I also gained the confidence to talk with you all about everything I was seeing there.

Everyone can use some Sunshine

If there’s one piece of clothing I’ll forever associate with my time at Magasin, it’s my Kaptain Sunshine silk shirt. I encountered it during my first ever Men’s Week reporting trip, back when the Japanese label was still sharing a small Paris showroom with Palmes. Drawn to its unusual color and incredibly soft handfeel, I was quickly informed that the designer, Shinsuke Kojima, was present. Suddenly, the man himself was telling me how it had been made and the name he’d given the color (“Whisper Green”) while also encouraging me to try it on and showing me how to wear it his way—tucked in, but with the top four buttons undone.

It was an exhilarating first taste of what these weeks, at their best, would look like. When I came across the same shirt a year later, on a personal visit to the brand’s new Tokyo store, making the purchase felt a little like buying a memory.

Founded in 2013, Kaptain Sunshine is the exact kind of label I always tried to cover in these columns. It’s the kind of brand you hear about during conversations with real people out in the world, either because they’re already wearing it, or they wish they were. In January, during a late-night coffee with the renowned buyer Andreas Murkurdis, it was his visit to the Kaptain showroom that he chose to rave about first when I asked about his week. When I recently asked Taylor Caruso (someone who typically only wears Lady White Co.) where his perfect light blue jeans were from, “Oh, these are actually Kaptain” came the reply.

Meanwhile, Chris Kontos of Kennedy magazine—a man who prides himself on taking the long view when it comes to style—is another customer. And Hampus von Hausswolff is just one of many guys who enjoys the brand’s shoe collaborations with the likes of Paraboot and Reproduction of Found. And despite being a menswear line, of course, it’s not just men who wear Kaptain. Strategist and consultant Gray Broderick told me that even though she’s an incredibly reluctant shopper, she ended up picking up three Kaptain Sunshine pieces in a single day (the short Mil Coat, the Poly Nylon puffer, and a thick white sweater) on an October trip to Japan.

“You dress because you want to feel comfortable,” she said when we spoke. “The only control you have of your environment is what goes on your body, and I’m also not dressing to be shot by a street style account in Nolita. Kaptain Sunshine, like The Row, or Loro Piana, is clothing for living in—you want to have it on your body, because it makes you feel elegant. You don’t have to adapt yourself to it.”

A lot of this is a credit not only to the brand’s relaxed, dressier designs, but also to its fabric mastery. Neither one talks about it publicly, but Kaptain Sunshine shares a parent company with Auralee, and both have exclusive access to the same production factory, where they can engineer each collection to their exact specifications. The resulting quality means it’s now always included with the likes of Comoli, A.Presse, Ssstein, and of course Auralee, in discussions about modern Japanese fashion excellence.

In a rare interview that Kojima granted me this month, I asked the designer how he feels about being grouped this way. Kojima, who is a former magazine editor himself, said that the way he sees it, one particular factor unites them all:

“We all have control of every single step, from the fabric to the finish, and we all work with only small and medium-sized manufacturers whose specialities lie in the field,” Kojima said. “The collections are a result of our close relationships with those experts, and being able to travel to see them in person. The way I see it, every one of us has a different brand characteristic and identity, but the commonality is working closely with local craftspeople to achieve a certain feeling that Japanese manufacturing can. The aesthetic is different, but the quality shines through.”

I then asked, a little more selfishly, for the story of how my beloved shirt came to be. Kojima told me he starts every season by assembling a palette of 20 to 30 colors, inspired by the “scenery, atmosphere, and people I encounter while traveling.” Because the fabrics are then made for him, he can allocate the colors he’s chosen to the specific textures that will showcase each shade best, which is how my green ended up on silk.

The silk, I learned, is sourced from Hokuriku, a small manufacturing base north of Tokyo, which has specialized in the material for generations. (Anecdotally, I’ve heard Alaïa sources its silk here too.) Elsewhere in the brand, wool comes from the famed Bishu region, denim from Okayama, rare Suvin cotton imported from India, and long-staple Finx cotton from Egypt.

So, shall we take one last look at some clothes before I go? Most people start with the brand’s heavy-duty, deep-pocketed Walker, Traveler, and Umbrella coats. They’re released every winter in new fabrics, but the guys I know who have them love breaking their existing one in, season after season. If you can find them in stock, others say the Reproduction of Found collaboration, now in white after an initial black, is the best G.A.T. rework yet, but I also love this Hunter jacket, silk crewneck, Walker trench, navy Umbrella coat, these shoecut slacks, or this padded bomber and this denim jacket. Or, just wait until tomorrow, when I’m told a long-awaited collaboration with Lady White Co. finally drops…

How Cobey Arner wears it

Cobey Arner is one of my favorite photographers working today, and I’m far from alone: Everyone from Dior, The Society Archive and Emily Dawn Long to Hôtel Massé and J.Crew call on him when they need their designs photographed with a little more feeling. And given that HHWI has only ever been interested in the industry faces whom you don’t normally see, I couldn’t think of a better subject than someone who’s typically behind the camera.

What’s been in your wardrobe the longest?

I started buying clothes in high school, just thrifting in the suburbs of Atlanta with my friends. There were some pretty solid Goodwills down there, and while I haven’t hung onto a lot of stuff, I once found this amazing old YMCA t-shirt from 1996 with a really cool graphic on it. I used to wear everything pretty baggy, so now it feels like a double XL, but it’s still in the dresser.

I have a pair of Red Wings that I’ve held onto as well—the weird, brownish-red Moc Toe, with the white sole. That early menswear stuff is what got me into caring about clothes, and while they don’t get worn much, they’re a fun relic to hold on to. A “Don’t forget where you came from” type of thing.

What’s something you have multiples of?

As with single stitch vintage white T-shirts, I buy a pair of vintage 501s every time I find a pair that fits. That’s because they’re the only jeans I wear, and I know that at some point they’re all going to blow out, or rip, or there’s going to be a pair that’s out of commission for a while. So I need my backups. It’s a little regular-degular, but it’s just how I want to dress—sort of like a designer who’s kind of over it, but still looks great. Everything Jonathan Anderson wears fits great and looks great, but he has normal style, a normal haircut. That’s cool to me.

Can you say more about that?

I would just say that in the last 10 years, I kind of moved away from fashion brands. I always liked looking at the Our Legacys of the world, and it’s always nice to see classic items in a new context, but especially with jeans and T-shirts, I never felt like “Oh, I need to go and buy the $400 version of this thing.” Recently, I was talking to the guy who runs Varsity. A really lovely guy, but he was wearing a pair of jeans, and I was like, “Oh, are those 501s?” He was like, “No, these are Celine.” And they looked amazing, but then he said, “Yeah, they’re $1,500.” I think it’s fun to have those things in your wardrobe, but I would still rather just buy a pair of $100 Levi’s and then not have to worry about them. Also, girls don’t care. They do not care.

Do you buy anything new?

Well, it’s funny we brought up Jonathan Anderson, because I saw him wearing a pair of Salomon hiking boots. It’s been horrible in New York the last three months; the worst winter I’ve ever experienced here. So finally, even though I’ve never been a super tactical dresser, I found the exact style he wears and just got them in a different color, because his were green. They’re really well made, and they’re waterproof. I’ve worn them non-stop the last two months. Especially because I’m on set a lot, it’s so helpful to be comfortable.

What’s something in your closet that means a little more to you?

When my dad’s friend passed away last summer, he gave me that friend’s pair black lace-up Red Wings. I’ve worn them so much and know I’ll never get rid of them, especially because they can be resoled. Every time I go home, my dad oils them up. He’s like, “You need to take better care of these.” That’s why I got the hiking boots too, because I felt guilty wearing them out in the snow and the salt.

What’s on your wishlist, if we could get you something?

I’ve been wanting to wear more loafers. Being from the south, I always thought they seemed very preppy, a little Charleston-core. But then last year I bought a pair of John Lobb Lopez loafers secondhand, for like $300, and they’re perfect. Then, in November at a friend’s wedding, everyone was wearing Belgians, and I felt a little left out. I hear it’s a whole experience to go to the store, so you could take me there.

Any new discoveries beyond clothes?

Honestly, my Jacques Marie Mages glasses. I want to say I would never spend $900 on frames, but I didn’t—these were given to me. They blend so well into my face that I feel like you don’t even see them. I was talking to my friend the other day and they were like, “Oh wait, you wear glasses?” I was like, “Yeah, every day.”

Anything else?

I love burning incense, specifically Astier de Villate’s Tucson. I stayed at Chris [Black’s] house in L.A. a few years ago, and they had that and a Perfumer H candle, and once I smelled it, I was like cool, I’m never burning anything else. I burn the whole stick, multiple times a day. And then my friend Marcus [Allen] also put me onto Hotel Costes’ signature candle, which you can buy at a few places. And then I wear the Tobacco Toscana fragrance, which I think also came from Marcus giving me the hand soap one time.

Sounds like Marcus is the cheat code.

Every time I see him, I’m like, “Oh, I want to buy the shirt that you’re wearing.” He called me the other week because he’d pulled a bunch of new Versace stuff and wanted me to shoot it. Then he was like: “You should try on these pinkish-red jeans.” The way he was pitching it was like, “Imagine you pull up on set and you’re rocking these, and you’re leaning over to take a photo, and the client sees the Versace on the back of the jeans…” I saw the vision, but it wasn’t for me. I do, however, now want to order a pair of just red 501s, just to see…

Finally, if you had to do a cartoon sketch of yourself, what’s that guy wearing?

It would be the 501s with a pair of black work boots. And if it’s not a white t-shirt, well, I’ve honestly been wearing regular navy polos a lot. They help me feel like myself, tying the southernness with the New Yorkness. I randomly got a J.Crew polo and wasn’t even really thinking about it, and it’s something that I’ve worn every week for the last six months, along with an amazing Ralph Lauren Purple Label long-sleeve knit one I found a few years ago, for like $60 at a secondhand store.

Spring. “Spring.” I think I’ve meditated on the moment long enough to know what to expect when the weather change actually takes place and clothing ticks over. It will be lots of black and white until the new silhouette feels natural enough to introduce color and pattern, safe swaps like long sleeves for short and wool coats for trenches, button-downs over tanks and opened a button or two more…

I wore an outfit this week that signaled the cycle shift to my brain; mostly stuff I’ve had for years because this moment asks for safety! Auralee cashmere coat (worn open), The Row Lilas pants, Kallmeyer plaid shirt (pale like a neutral, but plaid is my big spring signifier this year in a High Sport lookbook kind of way), my Italian factory-brand leather loafers, and the Métier Private Eye bag I barely go anywhere without these days.

My recent saves are of a similar ilk: desaturated, utopian, familiar but advancing the plot. This pair of Herbert Levine satin slides in the riskiest white silk feel painfully urgent, as do these Dries wrestling (?) shoes that read less like sneakers than dance shoes. A Tom Ford vest! Camille Surault resin earrings (more on these below) assuage my yearning for the Sophie Buhai onyx scarab collection. Roger Vivier buckle heels feature heavily on my wishlist.

Outerwear feels like…a Maria McManus pearl-sheened silk bomber jacket, Lemaire coated canvas, a Connor Ives frog-knot jean jacket that sadly won’t ship until September. But actually I already have the piece of the season: this Rachel Comey cropped trench in a leafy red (that I plan to wear with this synchronized suede belt).

I recently blew a big TRR credit on a couple of Andrew Marc leather jackets and a Prada silk suit (some things will never change), but waiting in the wings are a Chanel distressed tweed, a Connor Ives-y fur-trim Chinoiserie Adrienne Landau jacket, and a vintage Miu Miu nylon skirt set for sub-$300. I’ll play chicken and buy whatever’s still in stock by EOD.

What’s new

• Net-A-Porter’s Vanguard returns for 2026 as the rare mentorship program that attempts to operationalize diversity and inclusivity beyond empty industry phrasing, offering real retail backing and visibility. This year’s cohort—Colleen Allen, Daniella Kallmeyer of Kallmeyer, and Heirlome co-founder Stephanie Suberville—focuses on the female design point of view, and just so coincidentally picked three oft-cited Magasin brands-to-watch.

• Uniqlo U SS26 has been out for a week now, and the collection pivots its everyday uniform toward icy, grey-toned hues that feel like a 2026-recalibration of spring pastels. Pieces like the UV protection parka and unisex skipper polo jumper set the tone, while easy gathered trousers and a washable knit vest in a grayish mauve create accidentally-put-together suit combinations.

• Still T-minus whatever until Galliano’s imprint begins to emerge at Zara (his two year partnership begins this September), but in the meantime, the Spanish retailer has tapped Willy Chavarria for a collaborative capsule that harnesses his more recently established women’s offering in a downmarket way. A sub-$200 merlot leather bag bearing the designer’s name (not Zara’s) and a shoulder-y twill bomber jacket for a little more than that feel like un-regrettable gets.

• A trio of mid-priced handbag releases arrives with a shared focus: fun leather! Simuero’s oversized tool bag riffs on utility gear in rugged bovine leather designed for everyday wear, complete with a ring-sizer keychain. Etro revisits its Vela silhouette with a gradient leather finish that recalls early-2010s ombré, while Neous proposes the east-west silhouette as a new default purse shape with the Aries tote, complete with knot-detail straps for a bit of edge.

• It’s surprising this pairing took this long. J.Crew and Lee finally meet on a collection centered around American denim archetypes—jackets, straight leg jeans, and skirts—alongside a western Oxford shirt that walks the line between two Americanas: workwear and prep.

• Swedish-Spanish shoe brand Morjas expands its women’s offering with an SS26 lineup that balances practicality and attitude. A rubber-sole ballet flat introduces actual shock absorption—an answer to the recurring grievances around flat footwear. Elsewhere, an all-white boat shoe-qua-penny-loafer channels a slightly irreverent, old-money caricature.

• A couple of sunglass updates: Flatlist tapped Freja Wewer, creative director of Issueissue Magazine (among the few pubs making truly compelling imagery that crosses cultural and editorial—puts the budget gripes coming out of Vogue into perspective, but that’s another story) for a collaborative frame, dropping at 4p CET today. Garrett Leight and DÔEN collaborate on two sunglass frames—Doyenne and Ingénue—crafted in Japanese acetate and designed to reinterpret vintage shapes through a contemporary lens (get it? They’re glasses). The Ingénue, especially in red, lands somewhere between mod and classic without committing fully to either, offering a flexible pop-of-color addition to your sunglasses collection.

• The Jeanerica x Le Sundial collaboration found a way to agnostically echo prayer beads through a modern, design-forward perspective. The cobalt nautilus necklace and smoky teardrop earrings merge Jeanerica’s shell-logo branding with Le Sundial’s Italian beading techniques, resulting in jewelry that feels like a wonderful melding of design ethos.

• Camille Surault’s Collection IV limits itself to black resin and 925 silver, occasionally punctuated by gold vermeil, but pushes those materials into unexpected territory. The Vada dangling earrings and mini Pippa necklace stand out as an easy pairing, spheres and chains that suggest summer tube-top-hair-up styling (wishful thinking).

• There’s also: The Skims Wedding Shop with post-ceremony options for both bride and groom; a new two-style drop in the Sperry x Aritzia universe with color-corded laces that push the preppy staple into brighter territory; Kaia Gerber’s Repetto capsule arriving in suede and twin shades of red; Jamie Haller’s boxer pant and safari shirt duo, served up in sunchoke stripes and pistachio hues that read like a late-summer lunch; Dorsey’s 2mm rivière necklaces in lab-grown diamonds, offering a more accessible and environmentally minded take on classic line jewelry; and introducing Moussse, a Swiss skincare entrant built on patented biotech formulas that signal where clinical beauty is heading next.

• Charlap Hyman & Herrero’s collaboration with Patterson Flynn imagines rugs as if out of children’s books from your most myth-making years—or maybe you dreamed them? There’s Sueño Grande, a runner of a sheep with an impossibly long torso, and Trompa, a large-spotted elephant: whimsical and yet evocative of a kind of ageless imagination. Accomplishing a lot for a rug that could live comfortably in a kid’s room or adult spaces alike.

What’s on sale

• No doubt of interest to many here, considering how its sales has previously shot it to the top of past Brand Ranks: The Tory Burch spring event is underway, offering 25% off purchases over $200 and 30% off $500 and above—an incentive structure that rewards bigger commitments. A seasonal pairing might include the gold Capri low sandal alongside a silver metallic mini Kira bag, leaning into mixed metals that feel aligned with the current appetite for contrast.

• The Tibi Outlet goes sale-on-sale, so, extra 20% off a lot of already-quite-down-there prices (taken at checkout). A purposefully creased silk slip skirt, once $495, is down to $119, and an elegantly v-necked vest comes from $575 to $138.

• Baserange’s once-a-year archive sale started today and drags prices on eight pages of products down by 70%. The cultish Indre straight-leg pant is in the mix in several fabrications including corduroy, linen, and organic cotton, the solid everyday Briar tee is below $75, and plenty of underwear styles are in the mix. The belted, brushed felt Kapas coat is even hugely discounted at $238.

• Another erstwhile best-seller (this topped our Black Friday charts), Frame’s Friends and Family sale combines a blanket 25% discount with select items marked down up to 70%, making higher-priced pieces notably more accessible. Styles like the leather reboot benefit most from the additional cut, while denim offerings—including the bubble crop and streamline—hover around the 50% range, with many heading toward final sale.

• Following last week’s August Barron collaboration spotlight, Swedish Stockings moves into a mid-season sale that rewards stocking up. Multipacks like the Elin knee-highs and Svea tights offer practical value (there’s at least 15% off of all bundles), while options like dusty pink Rosa lace knee-highs invite a fun color-texture into your hosiery drawer at nearly 30% off.

• A High Touch-y moment: HigherDOSE is offering 25% off across the entire site, including its new red light showerhead filter—positioned as the first of its kind. Known for its focus on infrared, PEMF, and red light therapy, the brand also allows savings through FSA/HSA accounts. I’m back from a week of Swiss excellence (they are very good at what they do), having checked out the new Hauser & Wirth inn, Chesa Marchetta, in Sils and later joining Highsnobiety a town over in St. Moritz.

Shopping-wise, I actually did pick up some reportable intel. The massif of ski towns is more known for its luxury drag—less interesting to me away from major cities where I’m seeking out terroir—however, I discovered the small Giovanoli empire, which included a La Garçonne-esque men’s and women’s shop dubbed “Moda,” a chic technical gear depot, “Sport,” and possibly a connection to a little pub across the street, Bar Cetto, with an outrageous view of the Alps before which to sip Italian wine and beer.

Giovanoli stocks a lot of my friend Lauren Frauenschuh’s family brand, Frauenschuh (she did knitwear for Dion Lee in New York before moving back to Austria to design the label…now it’s all brilliantly flattering slope uniforms with a few suede skirts and neoprene minis of questionable pragmatism in the mix). And I talked Nir into buying this unbelievable Ten C anorak whose Japanese knitted nylon/polyester micro-fiber was unlike anything previously known to my fingertips; like powdery silk satin to the touch! Menswear!

The Highsnob team hooked us up with some really thoughtful gifting (danke!) including a traditional leather belt from third-gen Appenzeller Gurt featuring studded suns and bovine charms. Khaite-coded, if you ran it through a time machine on a dairy farm. The galaxy-brain styling I loved seeing on some of the other guests was looped through techy ski pants.

The most expensive thing I tried on, at a security-heavy workshop hosted by the brand, was an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked, “openworked” meaning you can see the mechanics of that fames Swiss precision in action directly by glancing at the dial. Am I selling myself as a watch person? It’s $103,000, so if I am, maybe not today.

What’s new

• Perhaps the most actionable news of the week, Alex Mill’s Spring Collection lands, bringing with it frictionless pieces like the newly launched, cleavage-y ballet flat. It’s toughen-up-able with the Painter Jacket or picks from the equally strong men’s section, which counts a linen work jacket, twill zip jacket, and pique polo shirt (check out that enlightened greige) as additions to my personal shopping list.

• Jonathan Anderson’s first collection for Dior has officially landed in stores, and yes—somewhere along the way we’ve collectively dropped the “W.” when discussing John W. Anderson’s creative directorship feats. SS26 plays with Dior’s legacy without putting it behind a historically perverse museum glass: There’s a hero accessory in the book tote, “no Dietrich” tees and pastel denim pieces for the jeans-and-tee consumer, big flared chiffon dresses with matching satin shoes that lean into Dior ’50s legacy for fashion history buffs. The biggest addition to the brand’s grammar is the Dior Medallion, reworked as a roaming insignia across the entire collection (this Toledo calfskin belt is a favorite.).

• Following Jonathan Anderson’s no-sleep-till-legend-status career path, his ongoing Uniqlo collaboration returns with an SS26 collection that’s as clear as ever, with a few well-placed jolts. Seasonal updates come through color: a sharp orange bi-color tee and milk-of-mint jorts that truly make the case for seafoam as a functional neutral. It’s a familiar formula for Anderson’s Uniqlo, just as clever as it is accessible, with just enough variation to keep it moving.

• Incumbent all-natural-materials brand H-O-R-S-E is here to remind us that while gym class may be behind us, PE kit aesthetics are forever. Drop 003 leans into that thesis with high-neck sweatshirts and straight-leg sweats in navy and grey; uniform-adjacent, but elevated enough to wear far beyond any locker room. You can also still use MAGASIN20 for 20% off the whole site.

• Six new spring sneakers enter rotation: Salomon’s Rier collab trims the usual trail bulk into something sleeker with the all white XA Pro 3D. By Far taps 1930s football lines with a barely-there bungee fastening on the Prudent sneaker (its first in the category). Jacquemus and Nike revisit the Moon shoe in a trio of Neapolitan tones (the Glossier-esque pink is our favorite, given the sneaker-y ballerina export). And there are two VEJA collabs, one with Magliano and one with Baserange made out of recycled nylon and organic French hemp. To round everything off, Prada’s new leather and mesh Speedrock brings city-meets-outdoors utility with just a dash of REI seasoning (see: the yellow-flecked cord laces on the graphite/black color way).

• Cordera remains a sleeper, Toteme-tier (in terms of price and wearability) brand worth waking up to: consider their SS26 a formal introduction. This collection makes beige, brown, and every in-between shade feel intentional rather than institutional (a lot of the time khakis like this can lean a little UPS-y, and not in a good way). Standouts include a perfectly cropped ostrich leather bomber and cotton capris that show a mastery in flattering proportioning. Then there’s the Estructura mule, hiding its heel within the sole as a design detail.

• The Gia Borghini x Pirrie Wright Opera Collection draws from stage costuming with a light touch: The Renata’s curled upper nods to 16th century period footwear, while the Callas slingback distills the theme into something more wearable and less historical literal. It’s theatrical, but not costume-y, landing somewhere between Broadway extra in a period drama and modern eveningwear.

• Two jewelry drops, one shared instinct for statement pieces that feel collected rather than hoarded season-to-season: Sophie Buhai expands her Isadore earrings into carnelian and onyx, alongside scarab motifs (you guessed it…a brooch). And Jessica McCormack’s Orbit collection moves more toward the stratosphere, celestially—diamond spheres, asymmetry, and high-carat pieces that orbit (the material writes itself!) between playful and serious investment.

• Launching today, Brooke Callahan joins silk specialist Home of Hai for a collection that merges her signature, cultishly LA silhouettes with elevated fabrication. Scrunchies, bags, and tie-front slip dresses arrive in rich silk, blurring the line between sleepwear and nightlife.

• Once open produce starts appearing in net bags on the street, spring has officially arrived. From the Hereu Calella Filt cotton net carryall to the Rixo x Dragon Diffusion woven leather Niamh handbag, a vintage-feeling piece without the fragility of an actually vintage woven leather bag, to Loeffler Randall x Underwater Weaving basket bags with a Jane Birkin-tinged charm.

• A busy week for fragrance. Phlur’s Honey Moon blends mandarin, honey, and vanilla into something warm but not heavy. LoveShackFancy’s Sweetheart leans fruity-floral with a sparkly feminine finish. Miu Miu’s Fleur de Lait introduces mango and coconut into its more powdery universe, while Santa Maria Novella expands into body care—adapting its Acqua (light, aquatic) and Quercia (heady, woodsy) into a body cream and bath gel.

• There’s also: Tory Burch x The Explorers Club’s Women in Exploration capsule, complete with commemorative patches and 10% proceeds funding women in science—gear with an actual mission; Jil Sander x Oliver Peoples eyewear, delivering the slick, future-facing frames The Matrix (1999) promised us; Prada’s five-piece Re-Nylon SEA BEYOND capsule, reworking house codes in seasonal color shifts; Swedish Stockings x August Barron hosiery, which just dropped today with just enough attitude to make tights a focal point again; Etam x Miaou’s first lingerie outing, all sub-$50 and engineered for maximum visibility beyond the bedroom; AGOLDE x Maria McManus, loosening denim’s usual rigidity with pieces like a bandana worn as a sarong; St. Agni’s Fawn textile, ushering in a softer animal instinct to the fashion stampede of 2026; COS’s Monument Tote, a bag that means business and hints at the brand’s continued inching toward higher-stakes accessories offerings; and Alex Mill’s Perfect Little Tote edit, an array of its hero canvas carryalls—the Daily size is the 2004-era Celine Boogie bag, still practical enough for any canvas-appropriate day trip.

Men’s releases

• Cawley’s second SS26 drop brings a lot of focus specifically to its menswear offerings, with a slightly offbeat sensibility. Overdyed cotton-linen trousers and a British oilskin rain mac anchor the collection, while the freakier striped typewriter pant gives ethical train conductor fantasy. I think Andre 3000 would order the entire thing, which, I mean, kind of confirms it as a great collection.

• Jacques keeps things neat and no-fuss in this cogent spring edit. Fare centers on pieces that add something you might not know you need while not overcomplicating the existing wardrobe: cashmere wool bombers, merino mock necks, and tennis polos in both long and short sleeve lengths.

Home releases

• Zara Home continues its strong run with Colin King’s debut collection. Brass plates add a polished accent to any room whether a catchall or display fruit tray, while lacquered nesting tables and plinth-like side pieces bring a more solid yet not too on-the-nose ’80s reference.

• For those looking beyond trend cycles, though, Robert Stilin’s selection for his newly debuted online store—vintage grails that reach POA pricelines—offers deeper cuts. A 1973 Silas Seandel bench-table hybrid and a custom-updated steel and oat worktable channel mid-century rigor with a collector’s eye.

• The second Nickey Kehoe and Dumais Made collaboration lands firmly in lighting heaven with claw-like sconces and ceramic lemon-framed mirrors thatdraw from Sicilian votive traditions.

• Checks, plaids, and tartans are making a strong case in interiors in 2026. Tekla introduces its first core check in a cool blue percale, while BAINA echoes a similar water-like motif across two towels, one for poolside and another for the bathroom.

A touch of High Touch

• NAD+ enters a more consumer-facing format (versus its usual in-clinic or on-demand IV drip) with pre-dosed injectable pens by Remedy Place and NADClinic. The co-enzyme—central to cellular energy and function, and likely the biggest name recognition in buzzy longevity interventions—naturally declines with age, and this delivery system aims to replenish it directly.

• Musely’s new estrogen patch introduces an FDA-approved bioidentical hormone delivered through the skin. Designed for women 40–60 (and a talk-to-your-doctor moment), it addresses menopause and perimenopause symptoms from low energy to skin thinness without relying on oral treatments, which often carry side effects.

What’s on sale

• Maryam Nassir Zadeh, you will always be famous. The MNZ end-of-season markdowns have just landed, featuring 50% off all bags and an added range of shoes. Our favorites are the utility-minded Julian hobo or the wavy suede Tierra shoulder bag, and of course, the Serafina flat—all half price.

• SSENSE rolls out up to 15% off new-season pieces—less clearance, more revenue strategy (post-bankruptcy closure stave-off looking good). Still, it’s a useful moment to pick up a couple odds and ends; my eyes are on seasonal colors like this orange Pleats Please modular scarf and these lime green fur Marni slip-ons without paying full freight.

• Everything at Thistles is 20% off at checkout, including the Al frame—a Magasin gift guide pick (!) with a soft square shape that channels a very specific 1960s reference point: Think Kennedy. While it is women’s history month and we hate to see two baddies pitted against each other, Love Story discourse has brought us to this point of exhaustion: Jackie O > CBK.

• Friends & Family season delivers at Saks, with mid-tier luxury seeing meaningful reductions. This Staud dress drops dramatically (from $450 to $168), and there’s also a lot of Alexis Bittar jewelry. On a hunt for the perfect wide-leg trousers I found Diane Keaton’s Margiela skater chinos; if you’re a size 0, they’re all yours (last pair).

• An outdoorsy one: Arc’teryx’s outlet adds an extra 30% off, with outerwear dipping even lower depending on color. The less conventional shades (like this Sentinel jacket in a smoky teal color marked down from $750 to $450) often see the steepest cuts.

• Bergdorf’s new season sale mixes practical buys with aspirational ones; Manolo slingbacks fall into a surprisingly accessible range after stacked discounts ($1,025 to $384 with an extra 25% off sale), while statement pieces like this 16Arlington number (down to $288 from $960) make a strong case for impulse decisions.

• At Nordstrom’s spring savings event, appeal lies in range: Mango basics alongside Tory Burch footwear (the Kira flip flop in red is 20% off and the classic loafer is up to 30% off), all under one roof, all temporarily reduced. The coming weeks are sure to reveal even more gems.

• Vince offers 25% off sitewide with FFSP26, including its campaign pieces—red flared cotton pants and sharp linen-blend blazers that nod to mid-century cinema (Rear Window, 1954) without feeling too literal.

• Thank you, Nonna. The indie retailer’s sample sale pricing reaches near swap-meet levels in this edit, with pieces like Delfina Balda Yo-Ma pant marked down to $50 from $360 and even this one-season-ago doily-collar Sandy Liang cardigan marked down to $276 from $395.

• There’s also: Madewell’s Insider Event, knocking 25% off nearly everything (and there’s an extra 40% off nearly everything if you sign up for their newsletter); luggage brand BÉIS travel’s virtual warehouse sale, stacked with greatest hits like the carry-on roller; Banana Republic’s Friends & Family event, a full spring reset (linen shirting included) before the first real 70-degree week exposes any laundry negligence; cou cou’s lingering spring cleaning sale, a rare entry point into their cotton voile and pointelle universe (I’d recommend starting with a couple pairs of briefs and a cami or two, then recalibrate expectations); and the Kiehl’s Friends & Family sale, 25% off across the board (30% if you commit to emails), with the Midnight Recovery serum stepping in as damage control for Northeast windburn season.

Home sales

• In its final week, the 1stDibs annual spring sale expands with one last burst of collectible furniture and jewelry. Burl wood nightstands and a modestly priced amethyst and diamond ring are a couple highlights in my cart, from investment furniture pieces to smaller, more sparkly additions.

2p Loewe resee — I heard from their PR that the keystone inflatable coats from the new collection can (and should) be filled by a custom-designed porcelain air pump that costs more than your average fashion collector would spend to refill the tires on their bike.

4p Nour Hammour showroom — not shown at the preview, but I heard that bags are coming. And winter layering pieces like knits, too. I think most brands who launch bags don’t need to, but Nour’s will get eaten up.

• Potentially the most epic Fortuny lamp sighting to date at Nour Hammour’s new permanent showroom on Rue Pierre Charon. A Cesendello Cascade glass lamp chandelier with 33 spiraling shades that costs around $40,000 off the shelf. Individual cesendellos are a more approachable $1,500 and are great doorway accents.

• Apparently I was the one to break the news of Jude’s launch several PFW Report Backs ago—their team confirmed it at the preview. I also was first to report on the opening of the Christen store on Rue de la Paix upon seeing the signage erected last season. In case you need any more of a reason to trust me with your upcoming shoe shopping intel, I’ll say that By Far, one of the OG “accessible luxury” footwear operations of the 20teens to 2020s, has a rebrand coming down the line. Watch this space.

• Relatedly, the founder of Jude also designs a furniture brand that outfitted the showroom this season. I’ve known about Project 213A for some time now and even have one of its Maria vessels, but am just now clicking that Jurgita Dileviciute is the connective tissue between the two brands. Her furniture project has also done design for Le Doyenné inn and restaurant, which I visited last summer.

• Possibly the chicest giveaway I’ve ever picked up from a dinner: this gold-plated match box from Giuliva Heritage. A lighter is always going to be easier, but no one has this. Excellent gift, and apparently hard to get one’s hands on as it’s currently only available for pre-order.

• Also at said dinner, Kelly Rutherford was wearing a great velvet shawl-collar blazer by a brand none of us at the table had ever heard of (rare! a challenge!): Bleis Madrid. She had kept the tag in her pocket because she knew someone would ask, what a queen. Her exact jacket doesn’t seem to be in stock currently, but the prices across the board are excellent—under $500 for comparable styles.

• A final spot of shopping on my last day of Paris…I struck out at Lemaire (</3) and on a whim went into Dover Street Market where I never have any luck. After telling anyone who’d listen all week how I didn’t like any of my leather jackets, I allowed myself to try on Phoebe Philo’s Shrunk Bomber. It was expensive…very expensive (although much cheaper than in the States at €4,500, especially after detax)…but it didn’t feel like a pill to swallow the way my other high-budget temptations of the week had. Chanel’s new tweed shopping bag (at €6,200) was unavailable, and I was relieved. And the vintage Hermés at Preclothed (at €2,700) didn’t have the magnetism to make me pull me wallet out of my bag. The Phoebe jacket was like…an obviously correct choice, which changed the way spending the money felt.

10a Sourcewhere presents The Request Desk — one of my favorite stop-ins of the week. Founder Erika Wright assembled a greatest hits list of past and current-season pieces her fashion-sourcing platform gets tasked with finding clients most: a timely mix of price-commanding CBK-adjacent Prada and Calvin Klein, Margiela-era Hermés, J.W.Andersion’s Dior RTW, Charvet shirts (interest is surging due to the Chanel collab), The Row accessories, and Elsa Peretti objets. Housed in an apartment designed by Necchi Architecture (also responsible for Hotel Chateau d’Eau, where I stayed several visits back).

1p Rituel Libre at Sant Roch Vendome — a new sauna, “bathing club”-type experience that, IMO, needs some work. Design is…fine…but no-shoes policy and music that tries very hard to be “cool” instead of just being “enjoyable.”

3p Shopping at Preclothed — I tried on a devastating c. 2008 Hermés jacket that premeditated Blazy’s Chanel (as seen on Jacob Elordi). Around $3k, but the hardest thing I’ve walked away from all week.

• Spotted at David Mallett: a Louis Poulsen artichoke light, very Frenchly wired via an extra-long cord plugged into an adjacent wall.

• The Sourcewhere apartment was stylized with vintage National Geographics, which instantly took me back to my childhood homes, in which my parents stacked every one of the hundreds of issues of the magazine they’d collected over years. Very well might be my soft spot, but I could see the tell-tale Nat Geo yellow spine becoming the new knowing archival print artifact. After all, either Erika or the Necchi team knew to place them there. My parents couldn’t give these things away during the last move, but now they’re going for $20 for 8…

• My husband joined me at Preclothed, and the team did a bang job at figuring him out as a customer, bringing him a selection of Malo cashmere. It’s made across from Brunello Cucinelli’s cashmere facilities in Italy and is “better quality than Loro Piana or The Row,” pre the store. The hand was unbelievable, indeed softer than those and as soft as the Cristaseya sweater he had on. Their excellent-condition pieces were priced around €1,000, but they go for as little as under $100 on The RealReal.

• Men in hats! We saw it during NYFW with the molded felt caps at Public School and on various attendees, and it’s happening here on the streets, too.

• A piece of High Touch gossip: An editor I sat next to at Yohji had flown in directly from Korea, where he got “the new version of PDRN” (salmon sperm) injected into his skin. It’s called Elravie Re20 and is apparently uncomfortable enough of a process that they will anesthetize you (this is shocking to me) before fanning the skin booster over the area with a cannula. It only cost him around £300.

• Chanel’s show invite was a bouquet of flowers arranged by Maison Vertumne. (Palette cleanser for the Epstein files gift recommendations floating around.)

• The Lanvin flagship on Rue de Faubourg may be one of the chicest places in Paris. The brand’s ties to Art Deco (very much of Jeanne’s time) give it the accolades and institutional knowledge to execute the style today without a wiff of nostalgic artifice. Jeanne and the house were longtime collaborators with Armand-Albert Rateau (he designed her Paris apartment and the house’s original perfume bottles), and the store is an homage to him. Collectors be forewarned: Authentics can cost up to $2.6 million, but great-looking pieces “in the style of” are a pittance at under $1,000 on eBay.

• Quick side note while we’re on the subject of Art Deco beauty products: Michelle Duncan’s beauty line—Atlas Atelier—that I mentioned last send will be coming this fall and is indeed Art Deco-inspired (I saw pics of early prototypes but they are embargoed). She was originally developing some version of the makeup line for Cartier, before it abandoned exploring the category altogether (it still does fragrances, though)…

• Louisa Jacobson revealed to me over a bottle of Julie Balagny’s En Remont that she’s a “supertaster”: a genetic scratcher prize that allows some people to taste (and smell) beyond the average palette. Her heightened senses have brought her to Byredo “Sunday Cologne” topped off with DS & Durga “I Don’t Know What,” an aromatic intensifier when combined with other scents.

• In yet more fragrance gossip, the site of WWD’s cocktail, Hôtel de Crillon—a Rosewood hotel—smelled amazing. It’s the property’s signature scent, created by Naomi Goodsir, an an Australian milliner-turned-perfumer. The site-specific scent is available as a candle exclusively at the hotel’s gift shop for €89, but a range of her other eau de parums are for sale at Gardenheir.

• My MVP of the week, reminded about by ’s story, is the Lymphatic Brush by Cecily Braden. A curved brush made up of millions of soft bristles topped off in a “button” pattern that promotes blood flow and moves stagnant fluid around your face. You might’ve seen the millions of Temu knockoffs, but I hear from the most credible sources (authorized seller Raquel Medina) to accept to imitators. I used it on the plane, driving through wine country, and every morning at the hotel to offset the jet lag, travel, and the effects of wine consumption during these inflammatory days.

51ºF / 10º C — I always get the season wrong when packing for Paris…last time I thought it’d still be summer but I had to buy a coat. This time, I packed furs but it’s spring already! I shop for a living…really, I can’t complain.

1p Shopping — Chanel, Gucci, Charvet; Gucci was previewing a see-now-buy-now selection from the most recent Demna show, this week only, that the sales associate was downright apologetic about…a baffling offering of leggings and ill-cut suiting that was exactly the kind of thing I’d wear to go out after one of my first NY jobs, coming directly from the office and stopping at the American Apparel off-price store in Soho in between to pick up something tighter. Last season they did this with the La Famiglia collection (I bought these snakeskin pumps), but now, not even any good accessories to consider—why bother with this shopping model?

7p Hodakova show — classic Hodakova “raiding the attic for antiques”-core, feat. models who laid down on old rugs that they rolled over into skirts.

Shopping gossip

• I shopped! I technically started early at La Vallee Village, an outlet mall about an hour outside of Paris. The Google reviews all complain of the sales not being aggressive enough, but I saw plenty of stuff at Gucci for 70% off. I bought a Bamboo Night Clutch for ~$1,000, down from $3,550 (here’s one on resale for $1,775). I also bought a totally necessary Loro Piana fur-cashmere hat that I suspect will become the main character of the next leg of my trip in Switzerland. Here in the mainland, I treated myself to Charvet pleasures: a silk tie in a heady, creative print and a simple silk handkerchief with a navy-on-white spotty print.

• Also from pre-Paris, we drove through Burgundy for a few days, discovering wine and dining at the kinds of restaurants the Michelin guide was created for. At Château de Courban (a great meal), I loved the heavy table linens from Garnier Thiebaut, a 193-year-old brand from the Vosges region.

• Spotted an excellent new Repetto ballet flat style, the v-necked Lilouh. The last ballerina I fell in love with from the French shoe brand, the Lucien (made for men, and therefore not available in my size) got picked up and recreated by Phoebe Philo with the Gathered Flat. Let’s see who’s paying attention now.

• My friend Miranda Levitt gave me a travel size of the Lisa Eisner tallow balm from her Strategist feature, and I can confirm it’s the fix my jet-lagged, dehydrated lips desperately needed.

There is no Weather Forecast by Magasin franchise currently in development, but if I had to give my best assurances, I’d say we’re closer to being out of this historic winter than we are deepening into it.

It perplexed me at first, not knowing how to actually dress to protect myself from the, at times, worrisome conditions outside—last time it was this cold and windy was the year I moved to New York, when I wore cowboy boots in double-digit snowfall days and a leather jacket through sub-zero (Fº) weather. I was a young fashionhead straight out of California and boy did I make myself suffer!

A solid three snowstorms in, and I’ve started to get the hang of it. Just as the season is beginning to change in our favor. In thinking about the quickly evolving dressing conditions in my near future, I wanted to map out a series of outfits that would address a variety of occasions ranging from freezing cold (North Face puffer days) to pleasantly mild (little more than a CO trench), from anonymously casual to dress-to-be-documented formal. And so, the Winter Dressing Matrix was born.
